What a wonderful hidden gem! There is something for everyone. The view and seclusion is unbelievable. I would reccommend this to a couple for a romantic get a way or a group. So many activities and a complete vacation home.

Three generations spent three days, two nights. and all enjoyed it. The setting is out of a book. The home is clean, well furnished, and very confortable. Everything is provided. At one point we had eleven people in the house and did not feel crowded. The kitchen is well equiped; nothing is lacking. Plenty of toys and books for the little ones; toys (horse shoes, pool table, boats, volley ball and badmitten) for the adults; and some peace and quiet for Grand Mom and Grand Dad. All in all a fantastic stay.

We can't say enough great things about our stay here. The hosts were very responsive to our questions and emails from first contact until the end. They met us at check in and showed us around. The house is lovely and the setting on the pond was stunning and unique. A true Maine treasure. The house was very well stocked with everything we could need and more. In addition to all the water activities, there was something for everyone in the family. There was horseshoes, volleyball, and even separate game "house" with a ping pong table! Our family has rented many homes for our reunions and this was by far the best place we have ever stayed. Only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

We have stayed at the Gurneys' Black Pond House several times. It is very private, one of only three homes on the pond. The Gurneys keep the property in immaculate condition, clean and tidy. It has many wonderful conveniences, including satellite TV and wireless Internet. There is a separate building with a game room. But the water access is the primary attraction, with a dock, float and views galore. Most people come in summer time, but foliage season is spectacular. This is a great getaway, out in the woods but not too far from the village of Mount Vernon.

My husband, two little sons, and I spent five days at the Black Pond vacation house in Maine this past June. We all had a wonderful time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owners and given a quick tour of the house and grounds. They were both very nice and made us feel so welcomed. There were contact numbers available to us in case we needed anthing or there was any type of emergency (which there was not!). We enjoyed the following activities during our stay: paddle-boating, canoeing, swimming in the lake (we don't fish, but heard the fishing is great); campfire and roasting s'mores; ping-pong in the rec room (which had a nice bar area with mini-fridge); badminton and basketball, and taking a walk along the quiet country roads. There are also tvs and dvd/vcr, board games and books available for inside enjoyment. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very nice. Two full bathrooms (with a third toilet in the laundry room...yes, a washer and dryer were available for our use...so convenient!) were nice to have available. The kitchen had everything for our needs and there were even two refrigerators for our use. The whole house is very spacious (multiple bathrooms, bedrooms, "living room" areas, and dining room/kitchen) and filled with warmth and nice decor (not to mention, very clean). Our overall experience was an excellent one! We will definitely be coming back here to stay!
