We were suprised to find Cima del Mundo exceeded our alredy very high expectations. The view from your suite and veranda has to be one of the finest in all Vieques. The home is modern, all white and meticulously clean. Every amenity including fully stocked kitchen are at your disposal and the hosts Dennis and Debra are the greatest always ready to help out if you need them.

If you enjoy leisurely sipping coffee while looking out at a 180 degree view of the Caribbean Sea and rolling hills surrounding Isabella II, you'll love your stay at Cima del Mundo. Truly, the ceiling of the world, this lovely retreat is perfect escape for those who want a relaxing getaway that is conveniently located for quick access to town for a cold drink or your new favorite restaurant.
We consistently made use of the full kitchen, coffee maker, blender, grill, cooler, towels, beach chairs & umbrella for our daily adventures in search of "our favorite beach". The apartment is immaculate and tastefully furnished with all of the comforts you'll need during your stay. The many fans and the bedroom air conditioners will keep you cool when you need it, and when you fall into bed at night after a day at the beach, the bed and linens could not be more plush and comfortable. While we felt very safe, we did make use of the security system to secure our valuables while we went off adventuring. We couldn't have been more happy with our stay.
Our hosts, Dennis and Deborah, responded promptly to emails and shared information about where to go on the island, including a folder with maps, menus, and advice. They very kindly picked us up at the airport, showed us around town, gave us advice on where to go, and even cooked a lovely meal for us for our final evening on Vieques. I'm confident that you'll enjoy every moment of your stay!

Not much more I can really say... But i'll try: My fiancee and I just got back from a week at Cima Del Mundo. It was the best, and easiest vacation rental experience I've ever had. Dennis came out to meet us at the airport, helped us get our rental car and showed us around the island a bit before taking us back to the house. The apartment was immaculate. You could instantly tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making guests as comfortable as possible. We were able to wake up each morning, brew a pot of coffee and lounge on the deck which overlooked one of the absolute best views on the entire island. After a hard day of sitting on the beach (making use of the coolers, chairs, and umbrellas Dennis and Deborah kindly provided) we came back and made some snacks and mixed drinks in a kitchen stocked with just about anything you would need. While I definitely suggest eating out and trying out the local establishments, sometimes its nice to come home after a hard day on the beach, relax and make something yourself. (I say "home" because it truly did feel like coming home every night.) The grill on the deck was perfect for when we wanted to grill up a steak and watch the sunset. The bed was incredibly comfortable and while it may not be important to you, I appreciated the security system. It was nice to be able to lock any valuable items securely in the apartment while we were running around.
I can't thank Dennis and Deborah enough for their hospitality and generosity. While their residence is above the apartment it is completely separate and private. They were always available if we had questions or needed advice on where to find the best burger or rum drink, but at the same time they respected our privacy and we made ourselves right at home.
Thank you Deborah and Dennis, it was just amazing! -

We have just returned home from two weeks at Cima Del Mundo. It was an amazing vacation - the perfect place to stay. Dennis and Deborah are wonderful hosts. From the moment Dennis picked us up at the airport, we felt at home and welcome. The Del Mar Suite is beautifully decorated and, as others have said, has everything there to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We love to cook and found both the kitchen and grill area to be fully equipped. Dinners on the patio were a highlight for us after our busy days diving and exploring the many beautiful beaches. We loved listening to the birds, horses, roosters and frogs from our high up perch. What a view! We are already missing the sunsets. If you are planning a visit to Vieques, it is our opinion that there is no better place to stay on the island! Thank you, Deborah and Dennis, for your hard work in creating and maintaining such a perfect getaway!

There is no greater compliment than having our guests "feel at home". I'm glad you did and we loved having you here! We also loved hearing about your diving experiences-your stories were fascinating. What a wonderful world we in!

Pittsburgh PAGreat place to experience Vieques!
Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Earlier this month my wife and I enjoyed a 5 night stay at Cima Del Mundo, and couldn't have been happier with our choice of lodgings. The owners, Deborah and Dennis, have put a lot of though and care into the experience they are providing for their guests. After picking us up at the airport and driving us to our rental car, they took us on an insider's tour of Isabel Segunda, pointing out a number of good restaurants, bakeries, and stores along the way. The property is 5-10 minute drive from town, on a hill bordering the northern section of the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. The suites are below the main apartment where the owners live, but as the house is built on a hill both levels have balconies with stunning views (the pictures really can't do it justice). The balcony was the perfect place to begin day sipping on coffee and watch the sunset at night, listening to roosters, Coqui frogs, and neighing of the many horses that wander around the island. Among the many conveniences provided by Deborah and Dennis, we found everything we needed for the beach, including comfortable chairs, an umbrella, an umbrella anchor, coolers of various sizes, a really nice beach tote, noodles, beach towels and baggies/utensils for picnics. The amenities in the apartment include luxurious linens (sheets, beddings, bath towels were all very nice), a satellite tv/stereo (we never used it), and interesting reading material on history and character of the island. Though we didn't cook, the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, a blender, a toaster, and there was a brand new gas grill on the patio. We explored several gorgeous beaches during our visit and loved staying at Cima del Mundo!

The hosts were very gracious and helpful from day one. Readily available but not hovering so it felt like our own place. My brother and I visited to fish, enjoy the local flavor and the great views. The apartment was spotless, warmly decorated and modern. A brand new gas grill sat on the balcony that we used to cook a surf and turf meal that we purchased at the local fish market. The views were spectacular with the rolling mountains highlighted by the azure blue of the Caribbean on the nearby horizon. I would definately stay again.

We had been to Vieques before, and when we decided to return saw Cima Del Mundo advertised and thought that it looked liked a good value. This was a great decision. Deborah and Dennis picked us up at the airport, took us to get our rental car and proceeded to their home. Our apartment (downstairs from their home) was tastefully decorated and immaculate. The view was incredible. The kitchen was equipped with anything you would need for cooking (unlike some rentals that come with odds and ends that are barely usable). The area is very quiet; you can hear the roosters crowing in the morning, but they are not right next door! You will need a car to find the best beaches, but that is almost essential on Vieques. Deborah and Dennis are excellent hosts. They are available if you need them, but invisible if you don't! We already have plans to return next year!

The owners of Cima del Mundo, Dennis and Deborah, could not have been more welcoming and generous in their hospitality. Our two bedroom apt. was beautifully furnished and I really appreciated the thoughtful amenities such as the iHome dock and the luxurious cotton sheets. But if its a peaceful, relaxing get-away that you're looking for, this is the place. The view is spectacular and the terrace was perfect for watching the sunset with a cool cocktail. I will be recommending Cima del Mundo to anyone coming to visit Vieques.

Cima del mundo has a breathtaking view, a private and serene setting and the ability to affect instant relaxation. All of that and wonderful hosts as well what more could one ask for?! To wake up in the morning and hear the sounds of the island -the waves, the birds, the roosters, the horses and the people it was magical! The accomodations were clean and comfortable as noted in other reviews. Most mornings we chose to have breakfast "at home" -the kitchen has all the necessities for those who wanted to cook meals at home; we chose to go out for lunch and dinner-the next time we will need to visit the fish market and cook for ourselves( maybe once!) Even before our vacation was over we started planning our next -and we want to bring more of our family with us. This time we brought our teenage children who enjoyed the island and who finally began to snorkel (the magic of Caracas beach) Aside from staying at Cima del Mundo again we are looking forward to eating more Pincho's; hiking to some of the area's we did not get to this time and more relaxation! Deb and Dennis we are so glad you decided to open your home to guests thank you for all the help planning our trip from flights, hotels in San Juan, rental cars, most important sites to see/things to do and restaurant recommendations! This was the most relaxing vacation we have had in years!

Dear Christine,

We're tickled your children learned to snorkel. There's such a beautiful underwater world here, off our beaches. Ah, beautiful Playa Caracas (Red Beach) - a favorite for visitors and Viequense families, as well.
We look forward to seeing you again and meeting more family members! Our island has so much to share. -

Left on 01/04/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The property sits atop of a mountain, is immaculately clean and airy. At night you hear sounds of nature. One doesn't go to Vieques to spend time inside, but at the end of the day sitting on the porch and looking at the ocean, and the lights of the main island, while having a bottle of wine with friends - that's as good if not better than a boutique hotel, and much cheaper. I would choose this over most hotels. Hosts have been very accommodating, even arranging a car rental when we couldn't get it from the rental agencies (New Year's). The owners have been great and personable, thinking of all the details, providing beach umbrellas, chairs, towels, even a cooling bag. Overall, we enjoyed it greatly.

Dear Vitaly,
We are so happy we were able to host your New Year's vacation. As the island has a finite number of cars, we were thrilled to be able to help you find one.
You and your friends were wonderful guests and it was our treat to meet you!

To get away from it all pre-holidays, my so and I chose Cima del Mundo as our vacation spot in Vieques. Boy, am I glad we did! At 1st, I thought the location would have us traveling a bit. Not so. We were close to everything: beaches, restaurants, shopping. We learned everything was close in Vieques! :)
The rate was affordable and I feel like we got a good value for our money. We had a complete apartment to ourselves. It was clean and comfortable - beds were comfy, kitchen well outfitted (I like to cook), had wi-fi and TV (although we never used the TV). The best part for us was "cocktail time". After our days at the beach, we would come "home", shower, and prepare for our evening by enjoying the sunsets while sitting on the balcony. Very romantic.
The owners live on site and were very helpful-available if we needed them yet unobtrusive. They also provided a nice surprise for us when we arrived- cold beer and water in the fridge! We were parched from our day of travel and thought that was so thoughtful of them.
Although there are so many places to see in the world, we're talking about going back to Vieques. Would love to be able to stay at Cima del Mundo again!

Cima del mundo has one of the most breathtaking views of the mountains and the ocean in the beautiful island of Vieques. The suites have everything you might need; a fully equipped kitchen, fans and a/C's in every bedroom, spacious and beautifully furnished living room and bedrooms, a balcony with an amazing view, and a closet full with everything you need for a perfect beach day.
This is a great location, it's just 10 minutes from the airport and 3 minutes from the pier and it's really easy to get around. It's perfect for families, a group of friends or a honeymoon couple.
We recommend you spend a day relaxing at Caracas beach, an afternoon horseback riding, an evening at the bioluminiscent bay, a snorckeling adventure at Blue Beach, and a visit to the fort and the 375 year old Ceiba downtown.
Yet the most amazing part of our trip was getting to meet the owners, Deborah and Denis kind and lovely couple who will welcome you to their home with open arms. Their hospitality and knowledge of the island will help you plan the perfect vacation.
We had an amazing time and when we go back we will certainly stay at Cima del Mundo again.Response from Deborah OKeeffe - 10/07/2012

We originally rented a home a few houses down the road from Cima del Mundo, but the owners double-booked us and Deborah O'Keeffe generously took our booking instead. Though stressful at first, this turned out to be a very fortunate change for us because we ended up with the opportunity to stay in Deborah and Dennis' beautiful home!
Deborah met us at the ferry, showed us around and drove us to our car rental before heading back to Cima del Mundo. Minutes away from Isabella II and situated on a hill on the edge of Vieques' Wildlife Refuge on a very quiet road, Cima del Mundo is a completely new home with breathtaking views of the ocean and the big island of Puerto Rico. We stayed in the three bedroom apartment, which was comfortably furnished and minimally but tastefully decorated. (Deborah has a nice eye for decorating!)
The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed - ziplock bags, pantry essentials, etc. And an added bonus was the boogie boards, noodles, cooler and beach chairs that were available for us to use on Vieques' beautiful beaches - Blue Beach is our favorite!! The bedrooms were great, with air conditioning for humid nights. But the best feature of Cima is undoubtedly the view - we could have easily spent our entire time on the patio, enjoying the spectacular view! The apartment is also great for children, our 13 year old daughter and 10 year old son loved Cima as much as we did. In fact, we were actually on Vieques to attend a wedding at the W hotel and moved from Cima del Mundo to the W for the wedding. And we enjoyed being at Cima more than the W!
We travel a lot and have stayed in very posh hotels, resorts and vacation homes, and we can't say enough about how happy we were with Cima del Mundo. If you're looking for great accomodations on Vieques, don't make the mistake of going to the W (like we did!) and instead stay at Cima!
Both Deborah and Dennis were extremely friendly, nice and helpful, and when we return to Puerto Rico we will definitely stay here again!Response from Deborah OKeeffe - 09/02/2012

Writting this review makes me sad. Sad that I had to leave Cima del Mundo. There are so many words that I could use to describe this vacation rental but I will stick with amazing, fantabulous, spectacular and stunning.
Upon arrival to Vieques, we were greeted by Dennis. He took us to pick up our rental then gave us a "mini" tour of the immediate area of Isabel. Dennis was very informative and provides a lot of details to help get you acclimated to the area.
Then we were off to our home away from home for the week. Driving up the steep road to Cima del Mundo we had no idea that we were about to be introduced to the most amazing accommodations on the island. All I can say is Holy wow! We were blown away by this beautiful home on the hill. I had no idea that the house would be more impressive in person than the photos on the web. You can not get a true representation of its' beauty until you see it in person.
We then enter the Del Mar Suite and are very impressed by what we see. This apartment is beautiful and very clean but the best part was the spectacular view from the balcony. Amazing! It has the million dollar view. What a splendid joy to watch the beautiful sunsets, sparkling ocean and the neighborhood wild horse family grazing on the hill below us.
The apartment is equipped with everything you will need to enjoy a fabulous vacation. It is equipped with new quality items (coffee pot, blender, dishes, towels, beach gear, etc.) which makes your stay comfortable.
Deborah and Dennis are gracious host and were available whenever needed to offer directions, suggestions and recommendations. They are truly wonderful people and made us feel completely welcomed. They take great pride and care in their beautiful property. They will make you feel special and appreciated.
If you are undecided about where you will stay in Vieques, I highly recommend Cima del Mundo. You will not regret it. I can't wait to plan my next trip back. Thank you Deborah and Dennis for sharing your amazing home with us. -

Cima was the perfect place for our large group of friends. Deborah was so wonderful and accommodating, she really went above and beyond. She picked up two separate groups from the ferry, took us on a driving tour of the whole area, and gave excellent recommendations. Both apartments are clean and spacious, with tall ceilings, and spectacular views. The kitchens are well outfitted, and anything they might not have, Deborah was happy to loan. She provides all the beach supplies - towels, totes, chairs, umbrellas, and more.
If you spend much time on the lovely balcony, make sure to be careful about the door - we accidentally let about a million bugs in. And be sure to check out the snorkeling around Blue Beach, especially on the west side of the little island. -

Our hostess, Deborah, was so warm and wonderful and did an excellent and thorough job providing information/recommendations about the area. She was always available if we needed to ask questions and made us feel like family without being intrusive at all.
The beaches were close, plentiful and pristine. We were pleasantly surprised that often, we had entire gorgeous beaches to ourselves.
We really enjoyed the town of Esperanza. It was artsy and delightful. Late night kayaking in the bioluminescent bay was a once in a lifetime experience!
The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The apartment was clean, well appointed and well stocked with all necessary items. A perfect getaway!

wow what a view is what we kept telling each other during our stay. this condo is literally at "the top of the world" one of the best views on the island. it is far enough away from the town to have piece and quiet but close to everything including beaches with a short car ride. the owner Deborah is wonderful everything we needed was provided for us both household and beach supplies. only a short trip to store for some food items is all thats needed. deborah went over the island info with us and recommended things to do and see and where to drink and eat, it was very useful local information. At first when i first booked the trip I thought i would be lacking things to do , i was wrong between going to a different beach everyday and getting ready for meals i was busy :) in a good way. a great experience and great place to staying, we are definitely going back. ps we have had friends stay here twice in the last year as well.

My husband and I survived the funky plane ride (it was fun) from Ceiba and were met by our perfect hostess and landlady, Deborah, at the airport. She provided immediate cold ones for our ride to the car rental place while she filled us in on the best places to snorkel, have local cuisine and buy live island lobster. We dodged the small herd of wild horses in the middle of the road leading to her incredible home on the side of the mountain. You will not believe the view of the mountains, town, ocean, and coast of Puerto Rico from the apartment balcony. The apartment was spotless, new and beautifully furnished with everything we needed. Deborah provided additional things we requested to get us through until we could get to the grocery store the next day. She was always available to answer questions and share the local lore. We loved exploring just some of the many pristine beaches there, leaving a few for our next trip to discover. I could not recommend Deborah or this apartment more highly. If you want peace and quiet in your retreat after a beautiful day exploring, this is it!

We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Cima del Mundo and highly recommend it to Vieques travelers. It really does feel like the top of the world!
The house is built on the side of a large hill/mountain overlooking the island, water, and distant main island. It had the best views that we experienced on Vieques and a private balcony to relax and enjoy them from. The location is perfect - it's a short drive to everything on the island. The apartment is brand new and in excellent condition with all the amenities you could ever need. Our stay was incredibly comfortable.
Deborah was very welcoming and a superb host. She had great insider's advice for our stay that led us to discover many great restaurants, shops, and beaches. I highly recommend a trip to Vieques and staying at Cima del Mundo is a must! -

As the chef of the bunch...the kitchen is large and very modern, it was a pleasure to cook in... everything was at your fingertips; and then to be able to dine at the table in the dining room or on the balcony with such amazing views... just spectacular!
We just love the feel of Cima... its peaceful, relaxing, and it has all of the comforts of home (the beds are quite comfortable!!!)
I look forward to our return... its a little slice of heaven! -

A welcoming and simply beautiful get-away! Felt so much at home, views from the balcony leave one speechless. Sunsets, Sunrises - wild horses and roosters roam the streets, coqui singing their night time songs -just a few of the treats that one will experience when staying at Cima Del Mundo. The rooms are spacious and clean. If we weren't dining at one of the local restaurants we were preparing a gourmet meal in our fully equipped kitchen. Cocktail hour on the balcony was one of the highlights of the day after spending a lazy afternoon at the beach. Karen Liotta, Pawling, NY

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at Cima Del Mundo. The house was nestled atop a hill and had the most amazing views! We stayed in the Del Mar Suite - It was beautifully decorated and really felt like home away from home. The rooms were spacious and everything was neat and really clean (even the beds were really comfortable - something we rarely find at a beach house!) The patio was the perfect place to have our morning coffee, and drinks in the evening while the sun went down. We were surprised to find little unexpected things like a cooler and beach chairs to make our days at the beach even more awesome! And having a full kitchen really made our lives easier. We can't wait to go back - and we'll definitely stay here again!

If you're looking to get away from it all, and want to have all the conveniences of home, Cima del Mundo is the tropical destination for you! Two of my closest sisters-in-law and I had the pleasure of staying at Cima del Mundo last fall. Deborah welcomed us warmly and immediately gave us the tour of our gorgeous, recently constructed tropical apartment. Everything imaginable was ours for our perfect weekend get-a-way, including high-quality soaps/shampoo, linens, kitchen appliances, and beach gear. She was the perfect host, as she was mindful of our privacy, yet would be available if we had any questions about beach, store, and restaurant recommendations. I would highly recommend Cima del Mundo to my family and friends, and hope to return in the near future. The views are incredible, and you'll feel on top of the world!! My favorite activity there...sipping freshly blended pina coladas on the back deck watching Vieques' brilliant sunsets!

I stayed at Cima del Mundo for four nights during a girlfriend getaway, and I can't say enough about the fabulous accommodations. Cima del Mundo, "On top of the world" was very clean, private 3-bedroom apartment on a big cliff overlooking the ocean. The high ceilings and tile floors gave the apartment an airy, open feeling. The three bedrooms had extremely comfortable beds with crisp, clean linens, and tasteful decor. Each room also had its own air conditioner, which allowed us to adjust the temperature to our individual liking. The fully equipped kitchen was roomy and open enough for the three of us to cook, and included a blender for our nightly homemade pina collatas! The apartment also included beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, a washer/dryer, and a full bathroom. It also featured outdoor shower, which came in handy for rinsing sandy shoes before entering the apartment. The owner Deborah O'Keeffe, is very friendly, informative, pleasant, and accessible. She gave us many travel suggestions on beaches, restaurants, other sites, and also gave us some safety tips which we were grateful for. She was not intrusive at all - just the opposite. She waved and smiled, but let us be on our own.
The outdoor covered deck had a beautiful view of the ocean, and it was private. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck each morning, and had enough room for yoga on the deck. We couldn't hear other tenants or any other noises, which made us feel on top of the world! I would highly recommend this to friends, relatives and strangers. The apartment can easily sleep six guests, with plenty of room for "living."
Cima del Mundo is located about five minutes from Isabel, and about 15 minutes from Esperanza. It's tucked away at the top of a big hill, but easily accessible. We would go back there in a second - no doubts about recommending the phenominal lodging and hospitality. Best gift shop: Vieques Flowers and gifts. Best takeout food: Sol food -

There may be no better jumping off point to explore the island of Vieques than from the "Top of the World."
The view of the land and ocean is so relaxing you might not want to leave the condos at all. The rooms are all immaculate and sparkling. The kitchen is even full sized and modern.
We stayed in the Del Mar Suites. The space is large and inviting. The beds are soo comfortable, again, you may not want to get out of bed. But when you do, you feel rested and rejuvenated enough to enjoy a full day and evening of exploring.
Deborah makes sure you have everything you could possibly need (including snorkling gear, beach chairs, hair dryer). She's so gracious and knows about all the great sights and restaurants all around the island. And it's only five minutes from Isabel II.
We're looking forward to our next trip back (just a few weeks away!). This time staying in the Del Sol Suites. Can't wait!
