Breathtaking Views and meticulously maintained villa

Left on 05/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013

I would like to thank Renee for immediate responses to any questions we had prior to our rental, she was fantastic in relaying information. Adrienn and Jarrod were there to meet us at the airport and were a great help in pointing out things that we might need. The villa was gorgeous with everything you needed if you opted to eat-in. Rooms were very spacious and beds were very comfortable. If we opt to go back to Vieques, I would definitely stay in Colina de Brisas without any hesitation. Thank you again for the wonderful villa!!

      Surreal and fantastic

Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This property was phenomenal. Everything exceeded our expectations. Management was supportive, answering questions and helping out. Views are amazing, house is perfect. Stop looking for beachfront property on Vieques! All of the great beaches are on protected land, which don't have beach front houses. This location provided very quick beach access, and seemed exclusive. Wish our stay was longer!

Great place to relax and get a break from northern winters.

Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Renee and her local agents Jared and adrienn were very accommodating and had many helpful suggestions for activities, restaurants, favorite beaches, etc. The house is roomy, well equipped and has wonderful breezes and a beautiful view of Isabel Segunda and the harbor and also of El Fuerte. It is also an easy walk to town which we very much appreciated. The best part of Vieques is the beaches and the beautiful Caribbean water and the friendly people. Our only disappointments were the mechanical problems with the car we rented from the owners of the house and lack of internet service until the last day of our stay. The internet service provider is apparently very unreliable and the car had to be taken out of service due to multiple mechanical problems. I wouldn't recommend renting the car unless you are assured that it has had a thorough update (transmission, radiator, suspension, parking brake, etc.). Renee and Jared were very accommodating and tried their best to fix these problems, but Vieques is an island off an island and things don't always go smoothly.

      Beautiful home in perfect location

Left on 02/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013

This home was perfect! We arrived on the late ferry to find Jared waiting for us. He was so helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. The house was beautiful and it had everything you would need or want for a vacation rental. We only had 2 couples staying, but this place would easily accommodate 3 couples. The couple that was managing the property, Adrienn and Jared, were so great! The car available to rent was a great value and extremely convenient! When I return to Vieques, I will stay at Colina de Brisas!

What a perfect spot for a great getaway. We were only there for three days, but enjoyed every moment. Ready to start planning our return for a longer stay. The island is uncrowded, everything is close, beaches, reefs, shops, and restaurants. What more could one ask for?

This beautiful house on the hill offers great views, cool breezes, wildlife, and even supplies snorkling equipment. My only hesitation in recommending is that it may draw too many visitors and limit my ability to go back.

We had a wonderful stay at Colina de Brisas. Great open space and breezy beautiful views made it perfect for kids and grown-ups too. We loved the veranda, and the walkability to town was an unexpected treat. We hope to come back again to this lovely spot on Vieques, hopefully when the mangos are in season! ¡Gracias por todo!

Great home away from home for our whole family

Left on 12/29/2012 for a stay in December 2012

The house was spacious, clean and well equipped with everything you
need for the beach, barbeque at the house, cook in the kitchen, movies
books, toys for kids, etc. We were a group of 6 adults and a 4 and 2 year old. Plenty of room for us and then some whether we were in the house or out on the verandah. Loved the breeze blowing the curtains in our bedroom at night truly knew you were in the tropics! Also, enjoyed being serenaded by the roosters crowing every morning, being visited by the horses and watching the iguanas from the deck. All in all a great place we hope to return to.

Wonderful property in a fantastic location

Left on 10/27/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We visited Vieques in October 2012 and absolutely loved our far-too-short stay at Colina de Brisas. We were astounded with the size of the house and how nice everything was. Vieques itself was phenomenal, far exceeding our expectations. All the equipment in the house was greatly appreciated and made our stay much easier. We met another couple in San Juan and really want to come back for a week or more with more people -- just awesome.

      Fully-equipped home...wonderful breezes...quiet and relaxing!

Left on 08/06/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The home is located in the Mambiche neighborhood, a 5 minute walk to Isabel Segunda. It is set high up on a hill which affords it a clear view of the ocean, surrounding hills, the fort, as well as wonderful cross breezes! On the property, we found a mango grove as well as guava trees. Horses actually come right into the yard. It was a great experience for my daughter to see horses (and roosters) up close. I was worried we might hear a lot of "neighborhood" noise but this area is very quiet, save for the coqui's chirping and the early morning rooster's crow.
The veranda was the perfect spot for coffee as the sun rose, lounging while enjoying the cool breezes and watching my daughter run the entire length. We arrived on the last day of the Patron Saint Festivals so at night we got our own fireworks show! While sitting at the bistro table on the veranda, we had a clear view to the marina where the fireworks were set off.
The home is fully equipped and very organized (a place for everything and everything in its place!) You really do not need anything but your clothing! There was scuba gear, coolers of varying sizes, beach chairs and bags, boogie boards, washer/dryer, movies, books, a ps3 with 20+games, the list goes on! I was really happy with the items for our toddler: pack and play, dishes, cups, life vests, beach items, coloring books, crayons, markers and toys. The air conditioning is great, and the fans (in every room) help to circulate the cool air. The water pressure is good and the water is hot.
The rental process was very easy. Renee, the owner, is very organized and professional. The property managers, Adrien and Jared, were prompt and friendly. They kept in contact with us, picked us up at the airport and even took us to get groceries!
We definitely enjoyed our relaxing stay and were sad to have to leave after the week was up. Thank you Renee, Adrien and Jared, we hope to repeat it next year!

      Nice home away from home

Left on 01/21/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We've been sleeping our way through the Caribbean for the past 12 years, and were very happy to come across Colina de Brisas (CB). We the liked the open and spacious floor plan, which led out to the versatile veranda (we ate breakfast and dinner there, had drinks and relaxed, read, danced, gazed at the ocean, moon, rainbows). And it does have all the things you need to make going to the beach an all day awesomely comfortable time. We also loved the well-equipped kitchen. We like to cook when we go to a new island (think: fresh fish etc) and CB lacked for no utensil or small appliance (okay, no bread machine, but almost everything else). Really liked the great location-alone on a hill, but a stone's throw from town. We didn't walk to I2, but should have (instead we drove down and walked around). Very impressed that there were no bugs etc in this wonderful island home.

      Reasonable price and great views

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in November 2011

I traveled to Viegues with my husand and 4 adult family members. All of us enjoyed our stay at Colina de Brisas, aptly names as Hill of the Breezes (loose translation). Our favorite time of the day was having coffee on the porch which offered panoramic views of the island and ocean. Although the house was up a (steep) hill, it was located in a neighborhood, close to a museum, and provided good opportunities for walking. The house was well equipped with everything you would want for trips to the beaches, meal time, etc. Light sleepers might want to bring ear plugs for the roosters, but we got used to them.

      Terrific Place To Stay

Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011

This rental turned out to be a great place to stay. Our party consisted of ten people (4 adults / 6 young children ages 5-11). There was plenty of room... with some to spare. The house was very well kept... and turned out to be an excellent value. Everything was there that we needed (except groceries) and we had no problems during our stay. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely choose this house to stay in again.

      An awesome Place to Rent!

Left on 05/14/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Some friends and I rented Colina de Brisas for a weekend in Vieques after spending the week in San Juan. The only regret I have is that we couldn't stay longer!

The house is very well kept. Everything was perfectly clean and the kitchen and storage closets were well organized and labeled, so we were able to find whatever we needed in a matter of seconds. The house itself is close to Isabella Segunda (the big town on Vieques) and is within easy reach of the stores and restaurants nearby. Located on top of a hill, the porch has great views of the town, the harbor, the nearby fort, and even the PR mainland. Most importantly, it has all of the amenities you need for a leisurely day on the beach - beach toys, chairs, coolers, and the like. All of the various beaches are within easy driving distance (we really enjoyed Navio in particular, but you really can't go wrong).

Long story short - if you are coming to Vieques and want to rent a house, this is the one!

      Great Vieques Villa

Left on 04/09/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Colina de brisas is a great rental villa, clean, comfortable, secure. It accomodated 7 adults nicely at a price way more reasonable than staying in an inn or hotel. The Biobay on Vieques was amazing! Totally worth the trip in itself. Loved Blue Beach and Green Beach. Only stayed 2 nights but really enjoyed the view and drinking my morning coffee on the verandah.

More than a rental, Colina de Brisas is like home!!!

Left on 02/07/2011 for a stay in February 2011

I traveled with my boyfriend and his family, we are all young people so we wanted a place that was just for us. I can't tell you how perfect the house was. It had things that you won't even have at your own house!!! It had from coolers, plenty of beach chairs and more than enough towels. Laundry was a must since a traveled with people who kind of don't know how to make their own luggage!!! The three bedroom are very comfortable and beautifully decorated and the two bathrooms are very spacious. We were a party of seven and we were more than comfortable. Renee is very detailed oriented specially in the kitchen area were everything is labeled, you won't only find enough cookware but also things to use like for ex. salt, pepper, sugar and condiments. The outdoor space was great we used the hamacas, made some barbecue and you even have a outdoor shower, specially because we made the "must do, don't get out of Vieques without doing it" bioluminescent bay tour and we came with our feet cover in mud!!! The location was excellent since you are in the middle of everything. The house is suitable for people of all ages, and I can tell you that although I have family in Vieques but have stayed in rentals in the island before, that his has been the best rental experience I have ever had!!! My boyfriend's family loved it and we are already making arrangement to come back!!!

My wife, brother and his girlfriend stayed at Colina de Brisas and the place couldn't have been in better shape. The view and breeze on the veranda was perfect, the beds where very comfortable. The place was very clean and offered everything you would want for a vacation house. Plenty of towels, sheets, beach chairs, cooking equipment etc. The location of the house was off the beaten path a bit but that worked out better as it offered easy access to all sides of the island. If we go to Veiques again we would certainly stay here.

Surprised by the size of the house!

Left on 02/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010

Renee was great to work with, very prompt at getting the security deposit back (the day after we checked out the money was back in our account). The house is bigger than the pictures lead you to believe. It is very spacious. My family of six had plenty of space to play with the toys they have there. The view is beautiful! The house is in a very convenient area. A short drive to everything. Also, the neighborhood felt very safe and we had no concern of petty thieves. The house is set up and away from all other homes, so it is private and secure. The yard was spacious and full of fruit and flowers. We did get to see an iguana from the house too!

The driveway was a bit steeper than we are use to, but managed. Also the roosters are a bit noisy, but once we found the fan setting on the Trane A/C we could drown out their noise.

Completely spoiled by Colina de Brisas

Left on 02/22/2010 for a stay in February 2010

For our third trip to the phenomenal island of Vieques, my husband and I chose Colina de Brisas as our home away from home. From the very beginning of the rental process we were extremely impressed by how easy and professional the owner Renée Chandler made things. The website’s photos and information was wonderfully comprehensive, the information they needed from us was requested via easy to fill out forms, they accept PayPal, and answers to questions and confirmations were sent immediately.

When the date of our trip was near, we were sent terrific verbal and visual directions (that ultimately navigated us to the home flawlessly), as well as were given the opportunity to select our own entrance code in lieu of a key. We loved the simplicity of not needing to worry about keeping track of a key on the beaches!

Our arrival at Colina de Brisas took our breath away! The views from the enormous veranda are even more stunning than the website can give them credit for. The home is bright, airy, spacious, exceedingly comfortable, meticulously clean, and had all of the amenities we could ever imagine desiring. There is an easy to use home security system and a safe in the bedroom. The kitchen was huge and vastly stocked with more cooking and dining supplies than we could even get around to using. The two (that’s right, two) bathrooms had massive counter and storage space, as well as great lighting. The volume of bathroom towels and beach towels available to us was astonishing. We particularly enjoyed the wide array of DVDs, Playstation games, books, and board games available for our use during the stay. We really appreciated having use of the in-house washer and dryer so that we could pack far less than we normally would for the trip. Colina de Brisas also has a big selection of beach bags, coolers, chairs, body boards, and other fun supplies we made full use of.

In conclusion, we have never had a better experience dealing with a renter, nor stayed at such a

Perfect place to stay in Vieques

Left on 02/21/2010 for a stay in February 2010

We truly enjoyed our stay at Colina de Brisas and found it to be a very special place. It has everything you need in a vacation spot on a tropical island: a nice, breezy veranda with views of the ocean, well stocked (books, movies, towels, water toys, etc), plenty of space, good AC, and it was spotlessly clean (every cabinet in the kitchen was labeled with its contents, if that gives you an idea of how much attention is paid to detail). Also, we sort of felt like we were living in the middle of a zoo, in the most complementary and entertaining way possible - we spent about an hour one day just counting iguanas in the trees. At different points in time, we saw roosters, chickens, dogs, cats, iguanas, lizards, and a horse at the bottom of the street. We really loved this place and would definitely come back here.

One note: the driveway is really steep. Like, really steep (and we're saying this living on top of a hill in San Francisco). If you have a reliable car, it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you are like us, and you've waited until the last minute to rent a car and end up with an El Desastro (as we affectionately named our Ford Astro van with 254,000 miles on it, basically held together with wire), you might need to park at the bottom of the hill. It really isn't a big deal, just a logistical note ... and a suggestion: if you are going to Vieques, rent a car. Now.

In any case, we would happily recommend this place. It was relaxing, very well maintained, and a good deal. We were traveling with family (my husband and I, with his mom), and had intended to be traveling with friends (who got stranded in D.C. with the snow) - this is perfect for that. While we were initially looking for a place closer to the water, we ended up being much happier with this spot - you can't beat the views or the breezes, and the water really isn't far at all.
