Bozeman, MTWe loved our stay!
Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I just returned home from an 8 night stay in Casa anolis and my group and myself only had great things to say about the home! Having rented the house was much more suitable than staying in a resort. The kitchen was fully equipped for whatever we were cooking. The bed were extremely comfortable! There were more than enough towel stocked in the bathroom for our 5 adult 8 night stay. We enjoyed mornings on the back deck watching the critters in the yeard and enjoyed countless evenings playing cards and chatting around the table on the deck as well.
From the moment we arrived we never felt out of place. Joey (the landlord) was extremely helpful in letting us in on the local secrets and without him we wouldn't have made it to our ferry on departing day. He went out of his way to find us a ride that would get us there on time.
The location of the house was perfect for us. We enjoyed our walks everyday down to the malecon and to the local stores and bakery. It was a treat to see all of the horses roaming the neighborhood along with the stray dogs.
Next time we travel to Vieques we plan on staying at Casa anolis again. :-) -

Raleigh, NCGreat Family Getaway
Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We stayed at Casa anolis for 4 nights in February, and it really made for a great landing pad for our trip. My husband, 3 year old, and 1 year old stayed in the house, and it was nice that each of us had our own room, for less than the cost of many of the 2 bedroom rentals in Esperanza. As a mom with two small kids, cleanliness and child proofing in the home are a priority to me ... and I did not have to worry about a thing at Casa anolis. The house was spotless and there were no hidden hazards for little ones. The window aC units in each bedroom worked great, and their hum throughout the night helped drown out the noise of the neighborhood roosters and dogs. In fact, our kids slept soundly through the night thanks to the aC units. There was an outdoor shower, cute front porch, and long wraparound back deck, which were all great after a day at the beach to rinse off, and then hang our clothes out on to dry. Our son particularly liked the coconut tree in the backyard, and all the yard space to play around with his tractor toys. Everything in the kitchen worked, and there was nothing lacking that we would've needed. There was even laundry detergent left over from previous guests which was nice to have on hand and the washing machine/dryer worked well. The only tricky part of the house was the hot water in the indoor shower. It was impossible to get a consistent water temperature as it would fluctuate randomly and dramatically throughout the course of the shower without ever touching the handily (from freezing cold to scalding hot). I'm not sure how that could be fixed, but we survived the shower and just accepted it as a quirk of the house and island life. We had no issues with bugs (there were screens on all windows), animals (loved the tree frog sounds at night!), or neighbors. In fact, the neighbors were all incredibly friendly and helpful and we appreciated their warmness. Joey (the house manager) was wonderful and really made sure our trip ran smoothly. He was very responsive and easy to get ahold of. I also loved that the local bakery (with the best doughnuts and fresh baked bread in the morning!) was only 2 blocks away, as were two little grocery stores where the kids loved eating push-pops in the afternoon after the beach. The Malecon was just under a 10 minute walk and made for a wonderful stroll in the evening. I would absolutely stay at Casa anolis again.

Owner
Thank you for letting us know about the water heater. We have already spoken to our house manager and are replacing it as soon as possible.
We appreciate your kind words about Casa Anolis. Hopefully you will return to Vieques and stay at Casa Anolis again. The hot water will be in perfect working order.

YaucoGreat place to stay in Vieques
Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed at Casa anolis in Vieques a few days ago and it was a great experience. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood nearby La Esperanza beach, is neat, comfortable and well equipped with everything we could need. I'm so glad I chose this house for my vacation, because the house is excellent, but it's owners, Mr. and Mrs. Krause gave us a quality service, taking care of every little detail to make our stay pleasant. We would gladly return to Casa anolis on another ocassion. I definitely recommend it.
Thanks so much, Mr. and Mrs. Krause -

If you have never traveled to Veiques, let me tell you it's fabulous. I have stayed at Casa anolis several times and it's always first on my travel list. Just can't get enough! This cabana is perfect if I want to come by myself or with my family. I really appreciate having a washer and dryer so I can travel with less stuff. A quick walk to the local grocers and I can do any and all meals right here or I also like the short walk to all the restaurants and of course to the ocean. I love the temperature, afternoon rains, and all the beautiful flowers and greenery. Did I mention the beautiful blue ocean?

This place was a wonderful rental right in the heart of Esperanza. I travel to Vieques quite a bit and always prefer to be in the town of Esperanza because its right on the water and the malecon is a beautiful place to take a stroll and watch the sunset. Casa anolis was a short walk down to the malecon and had a great back deck to watch the storms roll in and have a cocktail. The house has everything you need including a nice grill and all the kitchen appliances you would need. The rooms were very comfortable and two of the rooms had air conditioning for the occasional need to drown out the roosters/squakboxes. Thanks to the hosts for sharing their wonderful casa with us and letting people enjoy Vieques at a great price!

mid MissouriSecond visit---and we hope to return
Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This was our 2nd stay at Casa anolis. Although it's not on the beach, it's only a few blocks up the hill in what appears to be a typical Vieques neighborhood, i.e., roosters and cats in the yards, horses going by in the street, and an occasional iguana.Casa anolis is clean and airy. Two of the three bedrooms are air-conditioned. There is a really nice porch on 2 sides of the house, but mosquitos made it uncomfortable to spend much time outside in the evening. (We had stayed at Casa anolis in June 2007 and didn't have any problem with mosquitos, so this august visit was probably just at the height of mosquito season.) We would definitely rent here again.
