Everyone who wrote about such exceptional experiences were absolutely correct.Your beach house was a pleasure to stay at. Thank-You so much for letting us stay there, we had an excellent time exploring your island and just relaxing at Los cocos. I was completely captivated by the climate and the constant lull of the waves breaking. It rained a little every day, just enough to water the land.I was able to swim everyday and I did a little snorkeling. The Bio Bay was very interesting and sun beach was a beautiful beach to swim in, my husband was able to go up to his neck there (he doesn't swim ).The beach at the house was a little rough the first few days we were there but it gradually became calmer which was nice. After I load my pics on my laptop I'll send you the one of the Puerto Ricon man lovingly giving his horse a bath out front of your house. I find myself eating mangos everyday since I got back. It's still so cold here I miss being there.your recommendation of the 'dirty banana " was dead on,. I thought Esperanza was such a quaint little town, I need to explore that again.Again, Thank-You again,

I can't say enough about how wonderful our trip to Vieques and stay at Los Cocos was. It was everything we could have dreamed of. The island is such a great place to visit. The house speaks for itself. It is even more beautiful than the pictures. We especially liked eating at the Cafe Mamasonga's. Their breakfasts are great and their seafood stew is to die for. They don't open till 9 and close after lunch, and reopen at 6 for dinner. So don't assume they are closed for the day The Tin Box on the other side of the island is very interesting. They grow much of their produce on site. If you're looking for a fresh salad you will definately find it there. Duffy's has the best beer selection on island and the food is okay. You really can't go wrong with this house and this island as a vacation destination. We loved every minute of it. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner. She is a wonderful, friendly person who made us feel like family. Thanks Jenni!

Oh my word -- there are no perfect words to describe how wonderful this place is! Vieques, in general, was such an amazing island to explore and hang out in, but just chilling out at Los Cocos was by far our favorite part!! Falling asleep to the incredible sounds of the surf to waking up to another beautiful, sunny day sipping coffee and collecting sea glass to all the moments in between I just can't say enough about how awesome this little villa is! It has everything you could ever want, it's decorated beautifully and is so airy and comfortable you're never, ever going to want to leave! The beach out front was quiet and without much traffic - other than the occasional swimmer or surfer or parade of wild horses. The next door neighbor Tom was wonderful and has a weath of knowledge about the island - and 3 really cool dogs - the neighborhood was clean and cute and pretty close to town. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jenny, who was so warm and helpful and D'arla was amazing - as were her smoothies!!! Thank you for opening your home to us! We loved it! I'm ready to book for next year. Jenny - you'll hear from me soon! :)

This was our 2nd stay at Los Cocos. We loved Vieques & Los Cocos so much, we brought my parents with us this year. What can I say, we'd love to keep this place a secret because it's got to be the best house on the island, but the owners deserve all the praise they receive. If you enjoy great service and great views than you'll love Los Cocos. The owners R fantastic. They quickly respond to emails, offer advice, & when we missed our connection, due to mechanical problems, Jennifer personally called us at the airport in San Juan with advice & the schedule for the ferry just in case we couldn't get another flight out. Aaa customer service! D'Arla, the caretaker also kept in close contact. On our 1st trip, she picked us up & dropped us of at the airport & helped us orient to the island. She's always friendly and helpful, and really makes you feel at home when you arrive. We really enjoyed our talks with her. Now the house ... we practically spent every waking minute, & a few asleep, out on the patio. Coffee in the am and long conversations in the PM just watching & listening to the ocean. The only way your going to get a better view of the water is if you're actually in it. The house is kept immaculately clean, the interior is open and airy with lofty ceilings and french doors that wrap 2 walls. It's ideally located to town. Far enough from the center, but close enough that you can walk if your not in a hurry and don't mind a few hills. I think Vieques has world class beaches and after exploring all day, it was nice to come home to Los Cocos for one last dip (depending on the tide, you may or may not need water shoes to get in). I say "coming home" because that's how we felt when we'd return. Los Cocos feels like your home away from home. You really can't beat it. Where in the world will we have 2 go 2 match it? hmm *(Cape air flew an extra flight 2 get us 2 Vieques & Maritza's car rental stayed open so we could pick up our rental the same night - muchas gracias!)

I really don't know where to begin other than we didn't ever want to leave this spot.
Not knowing the owners other than through lots of emails with Jennifer it is very obvious they have put their love & personality into this beautiful villa.I loved her taste in decorating & all of her beautiful colors she put together. Her love for detail was everywhere.
Jennifer couldn't have been more helpful or lovelier with any of her responses to my questions. D'Arla, her caretaker was very helpful in pointing out places we would need to visit & her smoothies were delicious. Her little car got us everywhere we wanted to go.
Vieques is a beautiful little island & we visited most of the beaches & even found our favorite.
Falling asleep every night listening to the waves gave us so much tranquility & peace & rejuvenated our souls.
We loved our vacation & will definitely visit again residing at Los Cocos -

My wife and I had our honeymoon on this lovely island and stayed at this beautiful beachfront home at Los Cocos. The home was right on the water with all the comforts of home and much more. The location was great with shopping, bars, and sight seeing within a half mile. We walked into town on numerous occasions to get some exercise. The locals were all very nice and helpful. We have already been discussing when we would like to return. We loved it.

We just returned from a dream-like week at, (what seemed like), our own beautiful villa on the beach ! The home is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed to enhance our stay. We spent much of our time on the "front porch" overlooking the sea. We ate our meals there, read our books there, watched the surfers there, and just took in the beautifull seascape there. We also enjoyed the view from the roof, especially at night with the abundance of stars shining overhead. We walked "our beach" several times per day collecting sea glass and shells. We seldom saw another soul on the beach save for the occasional dog, dog walker, surfer, and one morning we came upon a small "family" of horses on the east end of the beach by the rock wall.
How wonderful to hear the ocean each night as we drifted off to sleep, and again as we woke. The wonderful smells, the sounds, the refreshing breeze, all made each day a joy.
Oh, and don't be afraid to use the outdoor shower, it's "The Bomb" !
The caretaker, D'Arla, picked us up at the airport, gave us the "quick tour" of Isabella, took us to Los Cocos and saw to it that we had everything we needed. She rented one of her cars to us for the week and was always available to answer any question. We would drive by her Smoothie stand by the ferry dock each day in order to say hello to her and to purchase another one of her delicious smoothies.
Our mantra was "another day, another beach" and visited Blue Beach, Green Beach, and Red Beach. Not only was each beach beautiful in its own way, but there were so few people at any of those beaches that we felt, again, like we had each of the beaches to ourselves.
We took the "clear boat" Biobay tour with the Vieques adventure Company and were amazed by the beauty of it all.
We went riding with the Esperanza Riding Company and had a wonderful riding experience.
We enjoyed meals at many different restaurants.
We chose to remain "unplugged" the entire trip and can truly see we had the most beautiful, relaxing vacation we have ever had. We hope to do it again, some day.
Thank you Jennifer and Jeff for sharing your Paradise with us,

Our stay at Los Cocos was so deeply satisying. We were looking for a romantic, relaxed vacation get away and this was perfect for us. We got our groceries at the market after meeting D'Arla at the ferry.
The pictures didn't do it justice. It is charming, light and airy. Most days we ate at home on the patio overlooking the ocean with warm breezes cooling us or under the shade of the coconut trees. Walks on the beach, naps in the hammock, reading, snorkeling, the amazing Biobay, swimming at a different beach every day and enjoying our beautiful accomodations adter an outdoor shower. We couldn't have asked for more. We rented D'Arla's 4x4 which was easy and great value. She was awesome. We can't wait to return to paradise witj friends and family. -

The house was very comfortable, roomy, and private, front row right on the beach. Lots of indoor and outdoor space. The neighborhood was mostly comprised of other homes and the house was an easy 15 minute walk into town. We especially loved the outdoor shower. I definitely suggest that you rent a car, in order to explore the rest of the island and it's many beaches. There are not that many restaurants nearby (although there certainly are enough of them to get by for a few days) and their hours sometimes are unpredictable, so you probably want to get some food in the nearby grocery stores, which was easy to do. However, there are a lot of great restaurant choices on the other side of the island, which by the way is only about a 20 minute ride. And be sure to have Waldo the chef come over and cook a meal or two for you- makes for a very romantic evening! The only downside to the trip was the mosquitos on the island itself, so be sure to bring your spray. Other than that, we loved both the house and the island.

This place was perfect for two. I'm almost reluctant to heap on more praise because I want it available to rent it again as soon as I can! As with most places in Vieques, a car is pretty essential. I loved that it was a local beach too, and didnt particularly mind the late night partying. (it was supposed to be 'the end of the world' when we were there, so it was completely understandable.) My only complaint was fear of being beaned by coconuts, but there are plenty of other places to sit, just look up!

My husband and I spent 7 nights at Los Cocos from Nov 2nd-Nov 9th. We felt like we had our own little slice of heaven. The cottage had everything we needed to make home cooked meals and more! The cottage was recently renovated with a raising of the ceiling and it was spacious and beautiful. We lounged all day both inside and out and watched wild horses frolic in the ocean. We rented D'arla's car for a portion of the trip (the cottage's caretaker) to explore various beaches and spent the second portion of the trip walking into Isabel for lunch and sunset drinks at al's. The cottage was beautifully decorated and we couldn't have found a better retreat! Thank you Jenny for creating a home away from home for us. Thanks to D'arla for providing us with all the info we needed when we arrived on Vieques. The only con we experienced was that the cottage is on a beach access and the beach was pretty loud and busy during the weekend and when school got out. Locals tended to hang out on our steps to the beach and tie their horses to the wall of the cottage. If you don't mind action then it wont bother you a bit, but we could have done without the extra noise at times. All in all, a perfect place for us!

Congratulations and I'm glad you enjoyed Los Cocos! I did some investigation after your mention of the activity at the beach access because it seemed unusual to me. A local attributed it to the election and subsequent celebrations and that makes sense. I saw footage on election day that resembled a street party and was told it continued through the rest of the week. I'm glad you mentioned that the house is next to a public access and while not typical, there are times during the year that there is more coming and going. Hopefully we have four more years till an election is the cause!
Thanks for your positive comments about the house and your stay.

My husband, 2 two sons (age 10 and 13) and I stayed at Los Cocos for a week. It was heaven. Jennifer Zeislet (homeowner) was extremely friendly and helpful in every way. The house had everything we needed, was clean and beautifully decorated. The minute we walked in, we felt right at home. The location was amazing, right on a beautiful, little-used beach. To visit the other fantastic beaches on Vieques was less than 1/2 hour by car. There were good restaurants close by and grocery stores. I would definitely go back to this island and this house. (The only bad thing the whole time was the mosquitos, and that's just Vieques. I recommend Natrapel--natural bug spray that works really well and isn't harmful to the dinoflagellates at the bio-luminescent bay. You can get it at Blackbeards on the island, or bring it from home. The house has mosquito netting over the beds, but if you you are using more than the 2 beds (like the extra mattress or the day beds) you are out of luck.)

You won't be disappointed. The pictures are accurate but can't do Los Cocos justice. You have to stay at least a week to try and absorb most of what Los Cocos and Vieques have to offer. There is never a bad day rain or shine. The walk to town is great and gives you a chance to meet your Vieques neighbors (chickens, dogs, horses and lizards). Also if possible arrange to have access to a vehicle for at least a day so you can explore the island. Go find the other beautiful beaches. Nature has a great show in store for you. The sunrises and sunsets at Los Cocos are best enjoyed sitting on the patio or in the water right outside the wooden door. My favorite favorite spot at Los Cocos is the outdoor shower. Nothing can beat nice tropical breezes and the sound of the waves while you shower. Bring a good book, scrabble game, chess board or just listen to the waves sing you to sleep. Whether you decide to stay in and cook or eat out you can't go wrong with either choice. But please don't be afraid to try the local food, you won't be disappointed. The true asset of Los Cocos is D'Arla. She meets and greets you at the ferry dock and shows you around the town a bit to give you your bearings. She gives you a brief tour of Los Cocos and then leaves you to find your own hidden treasures...and they are definitely there. She makes sure the little things are there to make your stay at Los Cocos that much more special. She has a wealth of knowledge about Vieques and if she is not quite sure about something she will point you in the right direction to find what you are in need of. The only down side to Los Cocos is leaving...you never want to. I would love to keep Los Cocos a secret but it wouldn't be fair. I just ask that a week stays open for me to return.

The last week of March 3 friends and I stayed at the delightful Los Cocos cottage and had a wonderful vacation. The house was fully outfitted with everything we needed. The yard was surrounded by a wall with a corner gate that opened right out onto the beach. The kitchen was equiped with all we needed to eat seveal of our meals in. The 2nd bedroom was small but cozy and perfect for us. We loved the outdoor shower in the courtyard and the raised patio that looked out over the ocean. My favorite part was being in the master bedroom and waking up to the sound of the waves. I would go back again to Los Cocos anytime.

I came to Vieques to celebrate the 50th birthday of a dear friend! What a delightful stay and peaceful pace we experienced. Jeff and Jenni are exceptional owners/operators who care about the details. Los Cocos sits right on the beach and was equipped with all the amenities we needed. Tastefully decorated and immaculate. It was a treat to retire and wake up to the sound of waves. Appreciated that the bedrooms were equipped with mosquito nets and very comfortable matresses. Coffee pot, stove, refrigerator and mircrwave worked great. I enjoyed drinking my coffee on the sweet deck overlooking the water each morning. Tucked away outdoor shower is a charm.
I appreciated the spa towels, beach chairs, hammocks and comfortable reading areas both inside and out.
Bioluminescent bay is a must. Collecting beautiful sea glass, eating at Duffy's, Trade Winds, Next Course and al's Mar az-ul plus a special rice an paellas created by Waldo made the stay and celebrations even sweeter.
D'Arla was helpful and caring. It was assuring to know she would meet us as we arrived and take us to Los Cocos. Jenni had maps available which provided helpful advice for planning the day.
Highly recommended for those who want to get away and relax, and celebrate birthdays!

Two friends and I spent a wonderful week at Los Cocos the first week of april. I couldn't have asked for more from our rental house!! Los Cocos sits right on the beach and is equipped with everything you need. The screen doors/windows allowed for a peaceful nights rest while listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze-amazing! The beds and seating areas were comfortable and relaxing and there is even the option of showering in a walled in, outdoor shower. In the morning we would wake up, step outside the back door and walk along the beach, soaking up the sunrise and then we would return for a cup of coffee on the patio overlooking the ocean. We were even able to go snorkeling right outside the house- what a great experience to swim with the beautiful fish around the coral reef! A few of the days we used our rental vehicle from the housekeeper to travel across the island to check out some more beautiful beaches. As far as food, there were a variety of restaurants/cafes to choose from and many were only a 5-10 min drive away. We were able to walk to a bakery one morning for some delicious, fresh made bread and pastries-the town is a nice 15-20 min walk from Los Cocos and has everything you would want in a small town. For breakfast and a few other meals we chose to stay in and cook, and we found the kitchen fully equipped. The housekeeper and owner were readily available and very helpful. Some more highlights were hiking up to an ocean lookout and renting scooters for a day to explore the island! Los Cocos was definitely the perfect play stay for our relaxing and fun get away.

I stayed at Los Cocos for about 1 week with a few friends. We had an amazing and relaxing time!! There is beach right next to the house that is awesome for snorkeling!! We saw schools of blue tang (I think) and many other little fish!! I also loved that I could hear the ocean waves from the house.
The kitchen was well equipped and we made most of our breakfasts. There is a small town (Close to the Ferry dock) about a 5-10min. drive or a 20min. walk from the house. There is a store there and a few restaurants that are nice to eat at. Al's Mar azul had a nice deck overlooking the ocean and had great tacos!
Otherwise, we spent our time soaking up the sun on the beaches! We visited Sun bay, blue beach and green beach! All were very nice and not crowded. We also rented scooters one day instead of the car, which was a lot of fun too!

Four of us (2 couples) stayed in the cottage Feb/March of 2012 and had an absolutely wonderful time. One bedroom is smaller than the other, but otherwise this rental works perfectly for four people.
The cottage is truly beach-front and has a big, beautiful patio and garden area -- perfect for enjoying breakfast and listening to the waves. The beach is not great for swimming, but it's nice for a quick dip or stroll. You'll definitely want a rental car to explore the many beaches on Vieques -- closer to the town of Esperanza and all over the island.
We were impressed by the many amenities in the cottage -- dishwasher, laundry facilities, beach chairs, towels, etc. You'll truly have everything you could possibly need!
Overall, we were thrilled with our stay at Los Cocos. I'd say the photos, while lovely, just don't do it justice. -

If you're looking for your own little piece of paradise on the island of Vieques, away from the resorts, then the beachfront cottage of Los Cocos is for you! My husband and I shared the house with another couple and would not have had a problem spending all our days just relaxing on the lovely patio overlooking the beach, sun-bathing on the sand, and watching the impressive display of stars while listening to the surf at night. But there is more to explore on this little island . . . great restaurants in the towns of Isabella and Esparanza, gorgeous beaches within a short drive, local Chef Waldo who came to the house to prepare a delicious Puerto Rican meal for us, visiting a local woman who sells her handcrafted jewelry, and much more that we will plan to experience the next time. The caretaker, D'Arla was very helpful in meeting us at the ferry and showing us our way around town before delivering us to the cottage. It was a lovely few days and our only regret is that we were not there longer . . . looking forward already to returning!

Our family spent 10 wonderful days at Los Cocos; days we will not soon forget! The weather was fantastic, the beaches, beautiful, and the house, spacious and inviting. My husband and I have a 10 month old girl. Every morning when she woke up (early!), we would walk out of the wooden gate directly onto the beach and take a walk. We saw many beautiful sunrises. Afterwards, we would return to a scene right out of a travel magazine: the elevated patio with a view of pristine water and a length of La Chata (the beach in front of the house). There, we ate breakfast, lingered over coffee, and discussed our plans for the day and our solutions to the world's problems. One morning we ate out at Mamasonga's, and another, we walked to Lidia's panaderia for delicious, fresh-baked pastries. The house is a nice 20 minute walk from the town of Isabelle Segunda. Our new umbrella stroller passed the test on the bumpy roads and hills as we took in the scenic views and burned off our pastries. We rented a car, and visited many fabulous beaches. However, we also fell in love with La Chata on the days we didn't feel like packing up the car and driving. The ocean called from the house, and we set up chairs and a blanket in the shade of the wall. La Chata has beautiful water, shade, fascinating shells and sea glass, and the perfect length of sand for a nice walk. If you want to get wet, you can walk into the water right in front of the house by the large rocks. As far as food, we ate most dinners out, and ate in the rest of the time. (Who can resist breakfast on the patio?!?) Duffy's was a favorite, and dessert at Tradewinds. But we were content to use the well-equipped kitchen the rest of the time. In the evenings we read, talked, and played games in the large common room. At night the roof was ideal for star gazing, and when we finally crawled into our bed we were lulled to sleep by the crashing of the waves. Ahhh. . . can you imagine a more fantastic vacation? We will be back!

57201Two weeks at Los Cocos!
Left on 01/22/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Los Cocos is a comfortable Caribbean retreat--it's tastefully decorated and for the most part had everything our party of two couples needed for the two weeks we were on Vieques. We did leave a portable hibachi grill, a simple butcher knife, and a larger cooler for others to enjoy. One of our favorite features, in addition to being right on the beach, was the garden shower! You can’t beat the hammocks, either, especially when brought to Sun Bay…ahhh, so relaxing! At night we were appreciative of the mosquito nets.
Los Cocos is on La Chata Beach--a beach sometimes good for surfing when the waves are good enough but you really don't see too many people using this beach for anything but walking since it's a little rocky. Also, falling asleep to the waves crashing at night was simply magical for those of us that sleep well and are stimulated by these sounds. The neighborhood of Bravos de Boston is quiet and consists of mostly ex-pats and vacation homes. I think it took us a convenient 5 minutes by car / 20 minutes by foot from Isabel II and 35 minutes by car to Esperanza.
One of the other excellent “features” of the villa was D’Arla who is the caretaker that lives nearby. She greeted us at the airport and took us through town during which time she provided us with some excellent restaurant recommendations and other extremely helpful pointers. It was nice having D’Arla available for the random question...and she makes a mean banana bread using the banana’s grown in her yard! :-) Jeff & Jennifer, the owners of Los Cocos, were also wonderfully hospitable and informative while we planned our visit.
We’ve recommended Los Cocos to another couple thinking about visiting the island and will definitely recommend staying here to others.Response from Jennifer Zeiset - 01/26/2012

I am glad you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure to work with you. Vieques isn't for everyone but those who like it.... LOVE IT! Thanks for the great review, it gives an accurate picture of the area and it means more to hear it from a guest than from me. D'Arla is a gem, and is always glad to help which can make the difference when visiting the island for the first time.
It was really kind of you to leave those items for future guests - one of the biggest challenges has been getting the house furnished and stocked, thanks for your generosity and thanks for choosing Los Cocos - we hope to see you again! -

Los Cocos was just what we were hoping for - quiet private setting with absolutely incredible views and surroundings. If we were any closer to the water we would have drowned. If you are looking for a true island experience, nothing could be better. Los Cocos embodies all that is Vieques. It has been tastefully decorated and comfortably appointed to set the stage for your island getaway. Hope you find it as welcoming and relaxing as we did.

My husband and I stayed here for a week and loved it. The house layout is open and tasteful and you have everything you need. Also, everything was very clean, which is very important to me.
What could be better than falling asleep and waking up with the sound of ocean filling the room. Dreamy! -

The meet and greet representative was very informative and always available. We felt right at home. Everything we needed was already inside. Wonderful experience. Looking forward to the next year.

We recently spent 5 nights at Los Cocos and it was wonderful! The beachfront location could not have been more perfect. We were able to take long sunrise/sunset walks and hardly saw another person on the beach the whole week. The house had everything we needed and the outdoor living spaces provided stunning ocean views. One of my favorite parts of the house was the outdoor shower courtyard! Falling asleep each night to the sound of the waves and coqui frogs was pure heaven. We will definitely consider staying at Los Cocos again on our next trip to Vieques.

Montreal, CanadaWhat an amazing place!

Quite simply, perfect. Contrary to most rentals, the photos don't do the reality justice. The house is loaded with everything and anything we needed and conveniently placed. We stayed as a couple but would go back with the kids anytime!

New Holland, PARelaxing, beautiful cottage at a great location

My husband and I went to Los Cocos for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time. It was relaxing and a great place to unwind from the months of planning a wedding! The view from the cottage is amazing and you can literally walk right out of the house and the gate and you're on the beach. The actual place is very nice and you can tell they have put a lot of hard work into making it a great place to stay. We would recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. There are a lot of great restaurants and the bioluminescent bay was just awesome! There are a lot of cool beaches to go to as well which are all different. Snorkeling is very fun to do on the different beaches. We would like to go again sometime with another couple. The island is also nice because it is not overcrowded like St. Thomas is. We had a great stay and are very glad that we went.

Our stay was very pleasant in this comfortable, clean home with recent (and in-progress) updates. Viewing sunrise over the ocean from spacious patios was spectacular. It was great to be able to open a gate and be right on the beach for a swim or walk. Local shops and the ferry are within walking distance.

My family stayed at Los Cocos on a recent reunion in Vieques. The cottage was wonderful. Slept 6 people comfortably;although the day beds in the living area had rather firm mattresses on plywood. Fine for relaxing, however.
The house opened to lots of extended outdoor living space and a beautiful beach and ocean view just beyond the house wall.
Very tastefully decorated and clean. It was a nice walk to town or the ferry dock and Vieques had many public beaches to enjoy. Airport pickup and car rental was readily available.
The owners,Jeff and Jenni, were wonderful to us and made us feel most welcome. Would definitely stay here again.Response from Jennifer Zeiset - 10/03/2011

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! The cottage is ideal for one or two couples or a smaller family, but we love a family reunion and if you like each other six can work! Hope you can visit again someday and thanks for your kind words.
