AtlantaYour own private resort!
Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Amazing views of the ocean, landscape and sunsets from the many decks of this spacious property perched up on high ... with only a short walk to the beach below. Even with 3 couples we each had our own private deck, full bathroom, and climate control. There were also 5 different indoor and outdoor dining areas. Since the house is on stilts a great feature was the open but shaded sitting and dining area for our grill-out poolside. The house is unique with is wooden structure and many windows to let the breezes blow through. One of the best kept secrets of the island are the variety of beaches that are national parks only a short drive away ... so, no crowds or big buildings, just simple cabanas ... even horses run wild around the island. For us adventurous types, the snorkeling was great in the clear blue waters and rocky areas. A highlight was a nighttime kayak on the bioluminescent bay, where the water glows when disturbed. As for eating in, the kitchen had everything you needed, down to the espresso machine. Then there were several great eating spots around the island from the roadside stand to fine plates that were works of art. So, I highly recommend this property and locale and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Boston MAComfortable and relaxing
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We spent a week at Sandia with 3 other couples. It was a vacation for relaxation and sun - and met our expectations! Bravos Boyz management was very accommodating and helpful, and the house was clean, bright and comfortable. The kitchen had all the cookware, dishes and utensils that we needed for pretty extensive cooking. The bedrooms were bright and cheerful. The indoor living room is contiguous to the kitchen and offered a nice gathering area. There are also several outdoor eating and seating areas. The pool area is very nice, with adequate lounges for all, and the addition of a poolside umbrella was helpful for those who cannot take as much sun. Wi-fi was available and worked well on the main floor.
The property was pretty, with flowering shrubbery and a view of the water. A couple of small beaches are within walking distance (but the north beaches are fairly rough (waves)). We were able to walk to the Farmers' Market (not very extensive, but lots of nice produce). Isabel Segunda is a bit far to walk, especially when it is hot or if you wanted to carry anything back. Morales market is nearby, as are the island's only two gas stations. Gas was in short supply when we were there, and there were gas lines. But we found having transportation a must while staying on Vieques - particularly to get to the best beaches, and to Esperanza.
A couple of things to take into consideration in your choice - there are a lot of stairs so this would not be a good choice for anyone with mobility challenges (you must go up a full flight of stairs to the main living area - including kitchen and living room). The ground floor poolside suite is very nice - and private from the rest of the house - but note that there are no curtains, and lots of windows facing the pool area - so not much privacy from the pool area. Wi-fi was iffy down there.
The photos on the website very accurately represent the property. It is clean, bright and comfortable - I would call it homey, not luxurious.Response from Bravos Boyz - 04/04/2013

We are thrilled to see that you had a relaxing vacation and that we met your expectations at Sandia Beach House. One of our favorite new properties! We also love hearing that you found Bravos Boyz Management helpful and accommodating! We spent the summer and Fall going over every detail to ensure that Sandia Beach House would be perfect for our guests and appreciate that you noticed our good work.
Thank you for mentioning the lack of curtains in the pool side suite and we wanted you to know they are on order and will be installed very soon.
You are one of our winners and we hope to see you and accommodate you again! Cheers from Bravos Boyz!!! -

tEnvironment
1-Positive-The house and grounds are well maintained and the view and sounds of the atlantic Ocean are something special.
Negative- The barbed wire fencing, electronic gate, and alarm system give the feeling of a war zone shangri-La. I.e. management directives to "lock all doors when going down to the pool," nightly sounds of dogs howling and barking or racing cars with blasting car stereos.
Services/Maintenance
-Sluggish response by management to an alarm malfunction on the first night.
-Poorly maintained pool chemicals (elevated chlorine levels) and lack of followup resulted in recurring generalized burning rashes children beginning the first night of vacationResponse from Bravos Boyz - 03/21/2013

As Bravos Boyz Management we appreciate hearing from our guests. We love that you enjoyed the grounds of which our very own Thom Denton designed. The owners take great pride and expense in keeping Sandia in tip top shape. The relationship to the ocean is like a front row seat and we are happy you enjoyed that as well.
We are sorry you did not like the fencing around the propery. Almost every home on Vieques has fencing of some type and it is to keep the lovely horses from eating the landscaping. Vieques is a rural place with dogs, chickens and roosters roaming free and we love this bit of character. I guess those sounds can be equated to garbage trucks and car alarms in the city. If our readers will look at all of our reviews we have never had a chemical complaint in any of our pools. We did have Hector our pool technician at your house every day checking chemicals. The first day they were a bit off but we quickly adjusted and every consecutive day the chemicals were in the normal range. I am sorry that you missed seeing him. We at Bravos Boyz Property Management pride our selves on taking care of people and houses and we feel we do it well. I hope we will see you again! -

New JerseyFabulous house!
Left on 02/03/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We loved the house, the casual decor, the five dining areas (house was on stilts for a better view with a dining/lounging area below) and the spacious pool. The brand new blender used by the prior renters was broken and they ran over the next morning with another new one. The car rental had closed before our 6 p.m. arrival so the person from Bravos Boys was willing to take us to the market, they were extremely nice and accommodating in every aspect! Island rental picked us up the next morning to bring us to our car. There was a farmers market on Tuesday and Wednesday morning (one very long block away, couldn't get closer than that) with the most amazing produce so make sure you dont stock up at Morales' cause these were much fresher! The house was very clean, pool person came during the week to clean pool and sweep lower level. An abundance of dinnerware and glassware, excellent espresso machine (they ususally taste like plastic).
The very few negatives were, the house was not in the nicest area (the house is gated but we didn't feel the need to use the security, there were stunning homes across from us located on the beach), there were many dogs and cats on adjoining properties (not to mention a few roosters but thats always in the Caribbean). We were awakened by them early in the morning. The house is in full sun, which is why we choose this particular house and we could have used an umbrella at the pool. The kitchen was not very well stocked for a cook (unlike their Seapatch rental). All the pans were teflon coated and pitted(havent used them for years since I discovered the danger of usage), even the large pots were teflon. Though I did find a stainless wok that I used for every meal and one large pot. Fortunately, I travel with my own cooking knives. There were numerous containers for leftovers with mismatched tops, two worked. We had to supply our own toilet paper (only one to a bathroom was stocked), had to buy a bag of charcoal and lighter fluid for one barbecue (I thought they could supply enough for two grillings, just my opinion). I have rented many boats and a few homes and I have, always, traveled with my own food (you're not going to find grass fed beef, chicken, organic veggies or St agur blue cheese!),1. I feel when renting a great house you want to enjoy every moment taking in the view and other amenities and 2. I don't want to spend $400 for dinner every evening to eat great food!
Another bonus was the star gazing deck above the house! And, visit Orchid beach which was one of the prettiest beaches I have visited (thank you Kevin, from Bravos, for the recommendation!). -

Landau/GermanySplendid Beach House on a Dream Island
Left on 10/20/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I have spent the first week of September 2012 with my family in Sandia Beach House. We had a dream vacation in Vieques and enjoyed Sandia very much. When you enter the property you are blown away by wonderful ocean views and a beautiful garden with palm trees and tropical flowers - not to mention a big newly renovated swimming pool! We even prepared Caipirinhas with our own limes from the garden which we enjoyed while watching the sunset on the gorgeous roof top terrace. You can hear and smell the ocean everywhere in the house, a little rocky beach is just across the street. We also loved the ambience of Sandia Beach house, which really honors its name with all kinds of local art and beach decorations. The house is a short ride to all the gorgeous almost empty beaches. The local management from Bravos Boyz was very friendly and helpful. Sandia Beach House is the perfect place for an unforgettable vacation. I plan to be back in December!

We stayed 10 days at Sandia Beach House just before it closed for renovation - and we had a fabulous time. Gorgeous ocean views from all five patios and balconies, a nice big pool and a well maintained garden where we could harvest our own mangos. The house is very clean and provides many small surprises like a Bose Wave II with iPhone docking station, a Nespresso machine and some interesting art. The location is perfect, just across the rocky north coast beach, a short drive from the splendid beaches in the natural park and close to Isabella II, as well as to the amenities of the W resort. Great management through the Bravos Boyz. We will definitively come back!
