Los Arcos, Completed in 2008, overlooks the Caribbean and Esperanza Bay from one of the most beautiful spots on the island of Vieques. The design was inspired by the great castles of Spain, with 18-inch thick concrete walls and huge, thick archways that separate the open-plan interior spaces. Los Arcos is a new home but looks like it could have been sitting on this hill for centuries.
Amenities include perhaps the nicest view on the island of Vieques and one of the best in the Caribbean, complete with the outdoor living spaces. Deep, wide, shaded, travertine-tiled balconies face the ocean with comfortable furniture and natural seating a...reas exposing views through arched openings and receiving constant breezes from the trade winds. Step off the balcony from the main house or the guest villa and step right into the solar heated infinity pool, with a bench and tables built in, also facing the views. Cushioned lounge chairs dot the balcony offering comfort and serenity to enjoy the vistas.
Throughout the house the walls facing the ocean have folding glass doors which open to bring the outside in. Although the furniture is high-end, it is not fussy or delicate or uninviting. The owners brought in pieces from India, Morocco, China and Mexico to fill the house with color and texture reflecting their interest in world craftwork and a comfortable, casual island lifestyle.
To the old they added the new with every possible convenience and comfort. There's a huge, fully outfitted "cook's kitchen", a large-screen plasma TV with DISH programming and a Blue Ray DVD player, air conditioned bedrooms, wireless Internet, and a whole-house audio system that lets guests select their own music and volume from the digital house library, or bring an iPod and hear it in any, or every room at the same time.
This Vieques Island rental house has three "master/guest suites", each with a king bed, private bath, indoor and outdoor shower, and folding glass doors that open to the ocean views. Two of the suites are in the separate Guest Wing and the third is within the Main House and all are of a similar quality with similar amenities. There are also wooden hangers for your clothing in all of the closets, and in room safes for any valuables you wish to store. Other spaces include the living room, media room, office, dramatic center-domed-cathedral-ceiling dining room, and pool bar.
The grounds are magnificent with many varieties of palm trees and colorful, tropical flowers galore. There is an orchard at the rear of the property where you are invited to pick fresh bananas, mangoes, star fruit, limones, and anything that might be in season during your visit.
Beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and thermoses are provided if you do decide to leave your private paradise to visit one of the many nearby sandy Vieques beaches. Los Arcos is a house that our guests return to year after year because of the magical design and location. There are many havens within the estate where views of the Caribbean are perfect, the breeze is sublime, and you feel lucky just to be here. This elegant Caribbean Estate on six acres overlooking the southern Caribbean coast is the perfect place to relax with friends and families creating lifelong dreams...

We had a wonderful time and the weather was great! The house is beautiful and well appointed. Everything you need is there and the kitchen was very well equipped. We shopped in the garden for papaya, mango, bananas, and star fruit. The tropical flowers are too numerous to list, by far the largest birds of paradise we had ever seen. The pool was a joy!
We hope to return soon!

Los arcos is an oasis of comfort and culture- all the amenities to provide you with the means to do exactly what you are meant to do on vacation- relax, enjoy, sleep, play with good friends. Still, if you are highly dependent on the internet, it's readily available and fast. It really feels like you are staying at a friend's house, everything feels very personal. The kitchen is stocked full of wonderful tools to help you make fantastic meals at home, each room is inviting, and you may find yourself just wanting to enjoy the comforts of this home...but do tear yourself away to visit the fantastic sites around the island- the house has plenty of vantage points to help you decide which way to go!

We stayed at Los arcos for almost a week with friends and family. I could have stayed forever. This is a truly stunning home, lovingly furnished with beautiful pieces from all over the world. The house sits high on the hillside and the views are spectacular. We sat for hours on the veranda, relaxing in the gentle breeze, watching hummingbirds and egrets, breathing the delicious fresh air, and simply gazing down to the Caribbean. Then we would pause to take a dip in the infinity pool or wander into the spacious kitchen for a snack. This home and its setting are the perfect combination of beauty, luxury, and comfort. It offers an indoor-outdoor living style that I could savor forever. Our bedroom suite looked out over the Caribbean, and at night we could hear the beautiful sounds of the distance surf and the breeze rattling gently through the palm leaves. The grounds are pristine, beautifully landscaped, and full of exotic fruits and flowers. I especially enjoyed our delicious little homegrown bananas. I can't say enough about the truly excellent service we received from Colleen - warm, friendly, quick, and efficient -- she was amazing at meeting our every need, whenever and whatever it was. I felt so completely at home in this beautiful setting that it was actually hard for me to tear myself away and explore the island. But Vieques is a wonderful locale, with its rich history, environmental uniqueness, and archeological heritage. And the funky little town of Esperanza is just minutes away and full of excellent restaurants, friendly people, and beautiful clear blue waters.
Best on the island. Look no further – this is it.

To paraphrase Hemingway, "if you are lucky enough to stay at Los arcos, wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you." I have returned home to snowy Colorado after staying at Los arcos for a week. Fortunately, I can close my eyes and pretend I am sitting by the infinity pool and enjoying a spectacular ocean view in a tropical paradise. My husband and I shared the property with two other couples. An extraordinary week with great friends, conversation and meals around the gorgeous dining room table. We also ventured into town to sample amazing restaurants and to kayak in the Bioluminescent Bay. What an exceptional place!

After our third visit to Los arcos we believe even more strongly in the review we posted here after our first trip: Los arcos is an amazing balance of tasteful, restful indoor/outdoor luxury. Vieques is an astonishing vacation spot for active people, lazy people and everybody in between. The one difference we noticed over the years is the emergence of even better restaurants. This is now a Foodie Paradise in addition to being a Caribbean Paradise, and some of the best eateries are 3 minutes from Los arcos. However, even though Vieques is Paradise, we could not consider a visit unless we were able to book Los arcos! (Tip: some of the locals said summer is especially wonderful. We may make our next visit in June or July!)

We were at the Los arcos for Thanksgiving break and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful, well maintained and decorating is very artistic. Thanksgiving dinner in the dining room with very high ceilings and a beautiful chandelier was special. Best of all, we did not have to cook it either. Bravo Boyz and Colleen, the house manager, can refer you to great catering options and relaxing massage at your own veranda. Catering and massage, both were well priced. Downtown Esperanza is only about a mile away with good restaurant options ( my personal favorite was El Quenepo). The beaches on caribbean ocean were much better than atlantic beaches. My personal favorite was blue beach, with turquoise blue water, powdery sand and a long beach for walking.
Los arcos has three bedroom suites. Master Bedroom is in the main section of the home and has the biggest bathroom, with a jacuzzi. The other two bedroom suites were adjacent to the main section and needed a very short walk across the veranda. Views are great from all the bedrooms. Infinity pool had the best views and we spent a rainy day at home enjoying the pool.
The maintenance service was very prompt. For a malfunctioning electric switch, Colleen was able to get the electrician over next morning on a holiday weekend !
Unfortunately, during our stay, there were no fruits ready to be picked at the property. There is one large television in the TV room, in the main house. We are a family of five adults, and it was enough for us, for our evening CNN viewing.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Los arcos !

Our family travels quite a bit, and having 5 total, we often rent houses/villas to meet our needs. Los arcos ranks among the best places we have stayed throughout the Caribbean. Everything you could want on vacation, or at home for that matter, is there. Everything about the house is well designed and maintained, and the property management (thanks Colleen) and real estate company Bravos Boyz are attentive and efficient. Everyone involved went out of their way to make my family comfortable. I really don't want to say too much more since we would like to come back and we don't want word to get out too much about how great this place is (oops). If you travel like we do, and you know who you are, this place is a must. Thanks to everyone at Bravos (especially Theresa) for making our vacation memorable. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to tell us that we are doing things right! We agree with you that Los Arcos is, "Among the best..." of rental houses in the Caribbean. We pride ourselves on having everything you need for the best vacation of your life. We appreciate that you mentioned Colleen and Theresa as they are definitely Stars in our minds! Los arcos is one rental that is actually more beautiful in person than in the photos. The home is private, secure and fully equipped. We had everything we needed plus more. They have beach towels, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, floats, bug spray and the list goes on. We went with my family (3 couples) and it was truly the best home we have ever rented. I took every shower outdoors looking at the most spectacular views that I will never forget. The outdoor space is incredible and a wonderful place to relax or have some fun! The house and grounds are absolutely stunning on an island that is known for its laid-back nature. It wasn't even a disappointment to be rained in for the first 3 days of our 11 day stay as the villa is wonderfully equipped and so very comfortable and inviting. The sound system, pool and media set-up in the family room gave us plenty to do without leaving the house. I've been to Vieques on several occasions and saw Los arcos during construction from outside the front gate. Nothing thilled me more than to find out this beautiful property was being shared by its kind owners. I jumped at the chance to spend my honeymoon here and could not have been more pleased. So much thought was put into the incredible architecture, beautiful interior design and landscaped grounds that it's obvious this villa had to be a labor of love to its owners. Having stayed at other villas on the island and knowing many of the local residents, we all agree that Los arcos is arguably the finest property on Vieques.
What a fantastic place to stay!

Let me start by saying that I was the system integrator for this house and did all the aV installations. That being said, I must also say that I've done quite a few other homes during my time and I've never wanted to spend a vacation in one of the other homes. Los arcos allows you to enjoy natures' finest views all while at the comfort of your own private pool. The elegant design of the house coupled with its impeccable decorations and great technology makes you feel so at home! It's amazing. It's not like your regular vacation place where you stay once and move on. We are already planning our next stay for 2012.
The first day of our stay my friends had not arrived, so it was just my wife and I. Even though I know the house inside out and I know its music system even better, we did not use the audio system on the first day. We just sat by the pool and just enjoyed the views and the sounds. It's one of the most peaceful places I've ever been to. For our next stay we are planning at least one full day but possibly two days just the two of us. Once our friends arrived, then the fun started, music, drinks, Bbqs you name it. We even caught a couple of games on the TV.
During our stay, unfortunately both my wife and I had to work for a couple of days. Los arcos allowed us to do that while enjoying the view. It has a fully equipped office with a printer and phones. It also has full Wi-fi coverage all over the house as well as broadband internet connection.
Our friends went to some of the beach during those days. We went to the beach twice during our stay. Aside from Red Beach, which was stunning, I really see no reason to leave the premises. This is house a self-contained vacation; just add food and drinks and you are done. The fun and enjoyment are included with the stay.
One last word, the service is fantastic. Colleen Rocks! We ran out of gas on the BBQ one night. Well, within one hour Colleen brought a new gas tank and were back Bbqing.

Don't even think of staying anywhere else on Vieques. It's a beautiful island and the view from Los arcos is outstanding. This place is delectable! You are near town, but it's high on a hill, and feel far from tourism. The pool is heavenly. The fruit trees and landscaping is an island fantasy. We are runner and found a great 4-5 mile down a quiet road, passing fewer cars than wandering horses. Before turning around, we ran down a dirt road adjacent to the beach. Fantastic.

We stayed at Los arcos with two other couples. The Home is warm welcoming and very easy to move right in and feel like you belong! We completely enjoyed our stay at Los arcos. It was very easy to get to any place we wanted to go, but most of the time we just wanted to stay and enjoy the property and grounds which were absolutely beautiful and elegant. Perfect Place To Stay!

This is our 5th trip to Vieques since 2003 and Los arcos is far and away the best place we have stayed on the island. We can't thank Thom from Bravos Boyz enough for his recommendation which he made after our last rental of a so-so property. Los arcos was perfect for our family from the moment we arrived. Overall, it can best be described as stunning-- the location on the south side of the island (our favorite part), the view, home architecture, decor, furnishings, dramatic light fixtures, grounds and landscaping, privacy, solar-heated salt water pool, and outdoor spaces. Our favorite feature was the outdoor spaces. The home is designed to meld the indoor and the outdoor together with incredible fold away, accordion-like doors that make the wall virtually disappear. You step out from your bedroom or the main living space onto a huge, beautiful terrace surrounding the pool. Overhead verandas are large with ceiling fans providing great shade and very breezy so one is never hot. Outdoor furniture is very comfortable and in abundance. There are incredible views from the warm pool. The central dining room and adjoining kitchen are stunning. Normally, I only dine outside in the tropics but the inside was so lovely we had several family meals around the large table. We were also impressed by the amount of equipment provided with the house from the cookware in the kitchen to the beach gear (sand chairs, umbrellas, snorkle sets, coolers) and towels. The grounds are lovely and huge. We picked bananas in the back yard for breakfast and were very glad to not have 5am crowing roosters right under our ears as we have had in the past! And if you have more than 6 in your party there is a nice small inn directly across the street for the overflow. I hope the owners continue to rent for many years as none of us wants to return unless we can stay again at Los arcos. Anything else would be a disappointment!
Best vacation ever!

Los arcos was, quite simply, perfect in every way. It had the appeal and comfort of home, with a sense of elegance that made me feel like a princess. My boyfriend and I spent much of our time outside on the patios, reading books, talking, and luxuriating. The home is a stunning example of what careful craftsmanship and attention to detail can create. My favorite feature was the large glass doors in our bedroom that opened to magnificent ocean views, soft breezes, and the chorus of island birds. We also enjoyed our walks on the beach, where on many occasions we were the only humans in sight. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for anyone looking to have their best vacation ever!

We gathered our two adult children and their spouses to this marvelous villa to have shared experiences and holiday bonding time necessary due to our distant and geographically varied home addresses. Man oh man, it was totally worth the investment to stay here. The place was so stellar that it greatly enhanced our experience and supported just the family time I was hoping for. We had a difficult time leaving the home to explore the island and felt like we were living on Mt. Olympus with the gods. Not our typical abode, but so wonderfully outside of our norm! Thanks for sharing it. Our stay was truly special. (Warrning: the place is even nicer than the pictures can capture. Every detail is perfect. And the scale is larger than depicted, so there are a lot of details!) I can't imagine how this would diappoint anyone.

Since my first visit to Los arcos, I can think of nothing else. It instantly became my vacation ideal. The place is welcoming, comfortable, and just plain beautiful. Los arcos does not have the feel of a hotel or resort (not that it lacks luxury), but that of your own personal home away from home.
The surrounding orchard of fruit trees and palms offers not just seclusion but fresh, tasty mangoes. With the numerous sitting areas (including in the pool!) I was able to find that perfect place to lounge, read, sip some sangria, or just soak in that view. Let's just say, relaxation is made very accessible. I spent a lot of time in the pool, but the Caribbean view was not lost with the easy transition from water to lounge chair. I must say my favorite view was from the outdoor shower!
Although I spent a lot of time lounging about, the house is duly equipped for entertaining, cooking, and even has an office to, God forbid, get some work done. It is close enough to one of Vieques' towns that I could easily pop in for a nice dinner, a bit of tourism, and scuba lessons.
Los arcos is tasteful, artistic, comfortable, and memorable. I can't wait to go back.

Close your eyes and try to imagine the perfect location for a luxurious vacation. You’ll “see” Los arcos. High on a hillside, overlooking the Caribbean and the funky little seaside town of Esperanza, is an amazing sanctuary from the real world. Four months ago, my husband and I stayed for a week – and we are still talking about what a peaceful, beautiful, restorative time we spent in this slice of paradise. We bought groceries and wine at nearby shops and prepared many meals in the spectacularly-appointed gourmet kitchen. We also ventured into town most days and enjoyed the fare at wonderful local restaurants. The website describes the key features of Los arcos, “Global Inspiration. Casual Luxury. Killer Views.” I’ll add one word: bliss.

It was a privilege to live for a week in the scenic comfort of Los arcos.
Much of our satisfaction came from the fact that there is not even a hint of commercialism in this lovely place. We concluded it is a part-time residence of people who really understand quality of life and place a premium on quiet good taste. Because the villa sits on a hillside overlooking the ocean it was designed to provide spectacular views from every corner. Complimenting that visual extravagance – and matching it - is the way the home’s interior is laid out and accessorized. Every detail is exquisite, whether it be a huge design element in the rafters or an art object sitting on a coffee table. Sure, Los arcos is memorable for its views – but equally unforgettable are the living areas which combine a great kitchen, comfortable living rooms and adjacent pool and patios to create an irresistible indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The commitment to excellence in every detail made us feel like we were enjoying the hospitality of very special friends instead of staying in just another a rented villa.

I said I'd write a review but I’ve got a problem. I’m the father/father–in-law of the owners of Los Arcos. If I tell you it’s fantastic, you’re likely to say, “Of course he says it’s fantastic. It’s his own kids' place. If he didn’t say that he’d never be invited back again.” But I’ve been there more than once and whether you believe me or not, I can tell you that it is a spacious, splendid, luxuriously appointed indoor-outdoor home on a spectacular site overlooking the Caribbean, probably the nicest place on the entire island of Vieques. I haven’t seen them all yet, but it’s a good bet that Los Arcos is number one. The pool and the view are mesmerizing. The staff is tops. And the island is a trip, 70 to 80 years back in time. Be careful not to hit the wild horses while driving.
You know, it just occurred to me. If you don’t believe me and don’t go, there may be more time for me and my wife to go. So, it’s OK. Don’t believe me!

Los arcos is nothing but a fantastic well located "spanish" like estate. When you arrive atop a hill it appears non-pretencious and "tucked" out of view. Atop, one realizes the beauty of the place and the breath taking views of the Vieques bay views. Los arcos has been one of the best locations I have vacationed. It has all the amenities. A beautiful kitchen. Nice bedrooms 2 steps away from the swiming pool. Nice fruit trees... great for smoothies or put in your cereal. You can spend the day reading, relaxing, and listening to music... if you want to work (hope not) wireless internet is available... there is plenty of beach and snorkling gear so you do not have to rent any of it. Overall 10/10 a+. I will return.

We stayed for approximately a week at Los Arcos in Vieques. The house was custom built for the owners with beautiful architectural design, and a lot of attention to both architectural detail and a strong emphasis on comfort and relaxation. Very good feeling property with astounding ocean views, beautiful pool and wonderful guest houses.
Los Arcos sits up on a hill above the ocean, with views in all directions which will take your breath away. It is very close to literally some of the best (and most varied) beaches I have ever walked on. Excellent beach walking by any standard..
Fabulous restuarants in every price point- with great food and drink- very walkable downtown. We loved the pool at Los Arcos with its commanding ocean views. The kitchen is fantastic for group cooking and local ingredients were scrumptious.
I have nothing negative to comment on- I want to go back asap- and Los Arcos is an inspiring place to visit-

I've stayed there twice (March, 09 & 10). Its the type of place where about every two hours or so, you pinch yourself to make sure you are really there. The view of the ocean, the breeze, the cook's kitchen, the details of the house construction and design, the pool, the outdoor showers, the sound system, the fruit orchard.... I could go on. One of the island's best restaurants (El Quenepo) is in town and you can walk to a beach as well(although the best ones you need a car to get to-and many advise you're better off with a car even for things within walking distance due to the conditions of the roads and the less than stellar driving habits of the island's youngsters . Want to go on a biobay tour Across the street. Horseback riding: around the corner. Yet, you are in an quiet, private and gated oasis, removed from the world (as much as you allow yourself to be with the wireless internet throughout the property.) Want to feel like a movie star without the paparazzi? Rent this place.

I stayed at Los Arcos the first week of March and it was fabulous! The accomodations were perfect - from the tastefully designed villa and its cushy guest-centric perks (sound system, indoor/outdoor showers, heated pool) to the gorgeous views and lovely fruit orchard. Rob, the caretaker, was very helpful, and made himself available to answer any questions we had. Los Arcos is close to many beaches and downtown Esperanza, which was great for afternoon lunches and tasty dinners. I highly recommend Los Arcos to anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious home away from home...
