Sublime reunion of friends at El Molino del Conde

Left on 11/02/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We were 19 friends reuniting in Spain, reminiscing about the Spain we loved as students and still love today. El Molino was perfect --big enough to gather with all of us and yet each couple with his own spacious private area. We loved especially: gathering fresh eggs, conversing poolside while eating Calamares Fritas (prepared by local señoras),cuddling up in the bed with a big duvet, befriending the family of cats, sitting around the fire with friends in the great living room, watching sunsets from the patio, climbing winding stairways to discover every nook & cranny of El Molino. Nick was a charming host, always available if we needed him. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped, the nearby town convenient, the location the best for exploring andalucia's beautiful white hillside towns and of course, the alhambra. Perfect!

le calme au milieu des oliviers

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The World's best place to have your wedding

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent the week up to our wedding at the molino with a group of friends and family, and also had the wedding party there with approx. 60 guests. The week was absolutely perfect and we could not imagine a better place to have one's wedding. The mill is every bride's dream and it is also a fantastic place to spend a week with your friends and family. We were a pretty heterogenous group of 15 nationalities and ages ranging from 3 months to 70. The mill offered ideal facilities for everyone, there are enough spaces to withdraw if you want to be alone and enough spaces to have a good time among everyone. I have been thinking hard but (except perhaps for the slightly volatile internet connection) simply can't think of anything to improve. Nick and amanda were the most helpful hosts I have ever met and tirelessly answered all our questions (mostly on the same day) and were extremely helpful in organising the wedding party. If you are considering renting this place, be it for your wedding, another kind of celebration, or simply a relaxed big group holiday, do not hesitate but book fast as for good reason, this place is booked far in advance! Thank you so much to Nick and amanda, who made this week and our wedding an unforgettable experience both for us and all our guests. We hope to return!

      Truly amazing

Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011

5 stars doesn't begin to describe how much we love El Molino! We came to celebrate our wedding and right from the beginning Nick & Amanda were there to help us organise everything. It's the most magical place and is perfect for big groups of people looking for a special place to celebrate something or just to come and relax. The gardens are beautiful, you can eat fresh figs and peaches from the trees, relax down by the mill stream, play tennis or swim in the gorgeous pool.
The house itself is also beautiful and when it's hot outside the inside is nice and cool and homely.
El Molino and more specifically, Nick & Amanda really made our wedding special with all their hard work and if you're thinking of doing something similar then we would say go for it!

We are 14 good friends who have traveled together in Europe and the States. We stayed a week in the moody's villa, wished we had planned two!! The villa was spacious, lovely, homey. Plenty of places to get lost in or for all 14 of us to eat a meal. dinner cooked by local ladies was a treat. Having the owners close by to help with suggestions but not hover was also great. Highly recommend, we would love to go back!!

      Best Holiday in Years!

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We have recently got back from a wonderful week at El Molino del Conde. Our party consisted of 11 adults and 12 children (aged from 2 to 12). It's a beautiful place and the children were kept amused all through the day. If they weren't caring for the cats, kittens, chickens and ducks they were either playing in the pool or exploring the grounds whilst the mums and dads were relaxing. We celebrated 2 40th birthdays there and hired a chef to cater for us on 2 of the nights. We used Nick Stephens (GranadaChef.com) who was fantastic and would recommend him for his delicious food, easy going personality and the fact he made the kitchen gleam afterwards allowing us to enjoy the evening without the thought of cleaning up afterwards! Amanda and Nick who own El Molino are wonderful hosts and were very helpful throughout our stay.

El Molino del Conde excelled in every way and surpassed all expectations - even though they were very high!! We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a week and keep 23 people entertained. Our only negative is that we can't go next year!

      Simply the best!

Left on 08/02/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We have just returned from a week long stay at El Molino del Conde and we can't stop raving about it to anyone that will listen to us. We were travelling with ten adults and seven children and we all had more than enough space to spend time away from each other if and when needed. The house is amazing with the best of the old part kept but fully updated bedrooms and bathrooms. We had five families so each of us had two bedrooms and one bathroom each which was ideal. There was so much for everyone to do and we all loved the swimming pool which was ideal for a group our size and a great temperature. The boules became a nightly competition for the adults whilst the kids played football on the grass. There are lots of animals for the kids to feed and play with. One of the cats even had kittens while we were there which ended up being the highlight of the trip. The owners of El Molino are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. They organised for women in the village to cook for us for two nights which I would really recommend. In terms of the area, there are some lovely villages nearby to visit and we drove to Granada to the water park one day which was about an hours drive. There's a huge lake about 15 mins away which is great to swim in. My only hesitation in recommending El Molino on Tripadvisor is that it won't be available next time we want to go back!

Beautiful rustic villa in a quiet relaxing location

Left on 08/01/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We had a great 50th birthday celebration with family & friends. The villas were lovely, spacious, clean and well appointed. The garden and pool area had lots of comfy seating areas.

There is space for 20 to eat inside or out, a large kitchen, plenty of fridges for food and beer.

Bedrooms are large and airy and the bathrooms have modern fittings.

Nick & Amanda helped us organise a memorable holiday, recommending local cooks who came in to do 3 or 4 meals during the week, organising a local coach company to take us to Cordoba for a day trip. They were really helpful, from when we first enquired right through to helping us organise our holiday.

We had a fantastic time, loved el Molino and we will be back.

Having spent our mothers 80th birthday in Rome we were very particular about finding something as special and memorable for her 85th. We were a family of 18 with small as well as teen aged grand children and their parents and grandmum. I spent hours on line and by phone attempting to find the perfect place. I am happy to say it exceeded all of our expectations and has provided us with our most fond memories of a family celebration ever. The facilities were immaculate and spectatularly renovated with the most up to date kitchen and bathrooms yet kept in the spirit of the old mill. The views were breath taking and shopping easy. We cooked and ate together easily and made wonderful trips to nearby Granada, Malaga, Marbella and Sevilla. Thank you so much amanda and Nick. Our family will never forget you

      Fairy Tale Wedding and Vacation

Left on 04/19/2011 for a stay in March 2011

My husband and I rented El Molino for a week and had or wedding there. It was a fairy tale experience and was perfect in so many ways. We planned our wedding from California and had to do it on faith and the help of Nick and amanda. They were always prompt with their responses and patient and informative with the many questions I had through a tortuous amount of e-mails that I sent. The house is romantic, quaint and comfortable. It easily accommodated the 18+ people that stayed with us. The ages ranged from 9 - 70 years old. We loved the herb garden, fresh eggs from their chickens, utilizing their outdoor BBQ and badminton courts as well as the many outdoor patio's. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms remarkable modern, but still rustic and gorgeous. Nick and amanda were spot on with their descriptions of what to expect and their recommendations for catering, music and driving directions. We have made many memories in that house during that week that will be remembered for a lifetime. I truly feel that the vibe of the house exuded so much love that contributed to the good feelings felt during the entire stay!

Having had a splendid villa experience in Italy, I wasconcerned

Left on 11/12/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Nick and amanda were most helpful from start to finish, and their relationship with Lari and Mike (tasteofspain) added a special element to our stay. They could not have been more helpful or accommodating, and were most generous with their time, certainly above and beyond the 'call of duty'. Sharing their love and knowledge of Spain, the sites, and the local area added greatly to our enjoyment of the holiday. Being able to connect with some of the locals was special, too.

El Molino was full of great character and charm. Due to its historic nature, one has to be able to accommodate some of its quirks--like the low ceiling beam and some steep steps. Collecting eggs from the chickens was an added novelty for us city folk. We loved being able to eat outside every night, and gathering poolside for our tapas.

While not located in a town, it is centrally located to a number of fine sites and local villages. The clean air, quiet, and night skies were wonderful.

One certainly needs a car, and the big grocery store is 25 minutes away, but all of that is manageable. We could have done with written instructions for the washing machine and dishwasher, both of which were very different to our Canadian models.

As you can read, we would highly recommend a stay at El Molino, and echo the positive remarks made by many others on this site.

      A fantastic privilege

Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in August 2010

I'd seen pictures on the El Molino website when it was first booked, and I was excited, but nothing prepared me for what I found on my arrival. Spectacular is the word that jumps to mind. It was the first family holiday I'd had in years, 23 of us from young babies to a not so young grandma (who was way better on the cricket field than I was). The house was full of nooks and crannies where quiet times could be had, but the pool and outside dining area is where we had the most fun. Everybody's need was catered for but there was never any sense that we were getting under each other's feet. The house wasn't luxurious, but that was it's charm. The family that own it still have their books on the shelves and their pictures on the walls, and consequently I felt like I'd been invited to stay by friends rather than hoteliers. The owners, Nick and amanda (plus children) were there on hand to advise on all issues and clued us in to what was happening in the village. They supplied us with everything we needed and were welcome guests one night for dinner.

I can't recommend this house enough. Anywhere that supplies it's own eggs has to worth checking out. Even if the ducks were a bit like the Marx Brothers.

We spent a friends 40th birthday at El Molino and had a wonderful time. The owners Nick & Amanda could not have been more gracious and accommodating. The enchanting setting is wonderfully private and serene. We visited El Molino in July and the temperatures were hot but the pool oddly stayed at a very refreshing temperature and made summer in Spain pleasurable. So pleasurable in fact that I opted out of several day trips just to stay and enjoy the house and the grounds and I can say I have no regrets. I would recommend El Molino without hesitation.

At our arrival, we met with amanda, Nick and Bosco (the dog who own the valley!) and they introduced us to the villa. Before seeing one single room, we knew that it would be very difficult to visit the rest of Spain since their place is so beautiful and charming. Let me tell you that the pictures on the web site are not as powerful as the reality! Perfect villas, in the middle of olive trees, with an incredible attention to details by the owners to make sure you will be pleased. We even (at our request) had a caterer on 2 occasions to have local cuisine cooked at the villa. We need to find excuses to go back again! Did I tell you that it was also during the Mundial which Spain won? !!
Many thanks to amanda, Nick and the rest of the family, from the 17 of us from Quebec and France.

El Molino del Conde provided the perfect venue for our gathering of 18 friends and spouses. We celebrated our 50th birthdays and as friends from college we marked this milestone in the same year.

El Molino is a beautiful property, carefully restored, with comfortable rooms and great amenities and facilities. A minor downside were low doorways to some of the rooms for members of our group over 6 feet. Its location offered our group flexibility throughout the week by having a range of options each day, whether to hang out by the pool, take walks in the countryside, cook, play boules or explore local pueblos blancos and other sites of interest. Nick and amanda were gracious hosts and were responsive, helpful and knowledgeable of the area which made our stay all the more pleasurable. They had compiled materials on local sites and detailed descriptions of walks in the area which facilitated our day-planning.

It was a perfect way to reconnect, visit and have new shared experiences together and helped to create a truly memorable time for all.

The perfect location for our perfect wedding!

Left on 07/12/2010 for a stay in June 2009

Lisa and I were searching for a place in andalucia to hold our Civil Partnership with family and friends in Summer 2009 and came across El Molino Del Conde on the Internet. From the very first contact we made with Nick and amanda they simply could not be more helpful. We told them what we were looking for and they answered all of our questions and more!

A few weeks later we visited El Molino for a day to double-check that it would fit our needs. Nick and amanda provided us lunch, welcomed us with open arms, showed us all around the house and the surrounding area, and were incredibly helpful in providing plenty of information. From that point we knew our week would be special.

In the run up to our stay Nick and amanda helped us pre-arrange food for the civil ceremony (from the local ladies in the village), a spanish guitarist (a local music teacher), and spa treatments. They even bought extra tables and chairs to ensure we had all that we would need.

Needless to say our week long stay with close family and friends and our special day, in particular, could not have been more wonderful and created a lifetime of memories. The beautiful and rustic mill and bakery accommodated us all perfectly. We spent days by the pool and evenings by the barbecue. The peace and tranquility just washes over you. The beautiful stream is a lovely spot to relax, and practice speeches in private!

The day of our civil ceremony was perfect. Nick and amanda arrived early and helped us to set everything up, and stayed with us to ensure everything ran smoothly, and to help us celebrate. We have the most beautiful photographs of the day. We laughed, we cried, we danced and we loved every minute.

There are few places in this world, and even fewer people, who help you to create the most perfect memories. El Molino is that place, and Nick and amanda are certainly the people. If you ever have an opportunity, you must go! You will not regret visiting this most special of places.

We are a group of a dozen or so artists and we first stayed at El Molino in September 2009 and enjoyed the place so much that we immediately re-booked to return in May 2010. It is a perfect location within easy reach of Malaga but off the beaten tourist track, scenic and unsanitized. The house is excitingly quirky in layout and very weill equipped and comfortable with many thoughtful touches (- aromatic rosemary clippings from the garden appeared in baskets in the bedrooms one day -). Don't go there if you are going to be bothered by low doorways, steep (but short) flights of steps, crowing cockerels or friendly dogs and cats. These are all to be enjoyed along with fresh eggs from the hens, well maintained pool and garden, fantastic sunrises out of the hills, great walks, masses of books and CDs. The hosts at El Molino have achieved just the right balance of being easily available to help with absolutely anything, whilst not being in the least bit interfering. We employed two lovely ladies from the village to cook delicious simple Spanish dinners for us, and all in all the place suited us perfectly.

The surrounding area is picturesque and local village a short walk away for essentil local bread and oil, yum.
The chickens and ducks proved to be the holiday best for our one and two year olds
We, the ladies, also enjoyed our pedicures in the house by a visiting spa business, would recommend this highkly and to avail yourselves of the ladies cooking.
All in all a great time had by all

      Fabulous as always

Left on 07/06/2010 for a stay in June 2010

June 2010 - once again what a marvellous experience being at El Molino del Conde, after so many stays over the past six years it is still a delight to return each time. The location of the house in such a peaceful valley surrounded by olive groves is perfect for relaxation and more importantly for us provides an atmosphere to enhance creative talents. For writers, cooks or painters it’s an ideal spot to stay in this beautiful restored mill with its many diverse places for dining in a large group – on the terrace by the pool, or by candlelight in the courtyard or dining room. Appreciated as well are the many places for solitary contemplation, mentoring or intimate conversations, on the upper covered terrace, by the stream, on the bench by the cypresses, or in one of the gazebos. The kitchen is fabulous for culinary creativity too! Our group particularly enjoyed the pool for breaks from their artistic endeavours. Once again we found El Molino ideal for visiting Granada, Cordoba and Ronda. We have been so lucky to find Nick and Amanda and their lovely house, nothing is ever too much trouble to make sure we have everything we need to make sure our courses are a success. Looking forward to our next return!

A wonderful spot to spend time with friends

Left on 07/02/2010 for a stay in June 2009

We rented El Molino del Conde as a group of 18 last summer to celebrate a 40th birthday. Not only was it a beautiful spot, nestling in the olive groves and hills of andalucia, with a good-sized pool, lovely bedrooms and an incredibly well-equipped kitchen - it was also the perfect place for a celebration, with several dining spots that could seat 20+ people and no near neighbours to annoy with our music! In fact, although a few of us ventured out for day trips to Granada and Cordoba, the majority of our group were content to stay at El Molino and just soak up the peace and atmosphere.

Though we took turns to cook (there are supermarkets within a short drive and the garage nearby for emergency supplies) we were delighted to take up the owners' offer of arranging for the "ladies from the village" to come over and cook us an authentic paella - it meant we could all relax and let them take over the kitchen. I can't remember exactly how much it cost, but it wasn't expensive - and they made a vegetarian version too.

Nick and amanda, the owners, have provided for all kinds of requirements - they put cots in the appropriate bedrooms (and advised on which bedrooms were best for young children as there are a couple of narrow steep staircases in the older buildings), they leave lots of advice in the house on everything from good waks locally, the best places to visit, and where all the games are kept (we played boules and badminton as well as holding diving competitions in the pool). They are there if you need them but are happy to leave you to be completely independant.

It's definitely a place I would choose to stay in again - just waiting for the next big birthday now!

Thank you so much for all your hospitality, kindness and help to us during both weeks of Boot Camp Spain's stay at El Molino. It was fantastic to come to a place where not only is the place itself absolutely stunning but nothing was too much trouble for both of you.

All of my clients and staff have remarked that they felt immediately at home and that the welcome extended by yourselves and your neighbours was beyond any expectation. I'm planning to bring lots of new groups to El Molino this winter and whilst there is a huge amount to organise, the fact that I have no worries at all about the accommodation and my landlords is a huge weight off my mind!

This is an enchanting place in every way and at any time.

We highly recommend El Molino in every aspect. This historic building in its beautiful setting has been transformed by Nick and amanda into a most attractive and comfortable establishment and they have taken care to preserve its Spanish style.
They also give the same consideration and care to their guests and will take the trouble to help if they possibly can with any requests and advice. Children too love being here, enjoying time with the animals and plenty of space to play and explore. Although we did not feel like swimming in March it was a pleasure to sit beside the pool even then and it must be a tremendous attraction during the summer months.
We also appreciated the opportunity to visit Granada and the alhambra, Cordoba and Seville from El Molino, as well as enjoying our visits to local bars and activities as recommended by our excellent hosts.

      Outstanding holiday,extraordinary property, wonderful location

Left on 07/01/2010 for a stay in August 2009

We spent a wonderful week with family and friends in august in this beautiful house.

El Molino has more than you could expect from a family holiday home. A spacious, beautifully presented home with character, in a stunning location, with so many personal touches (a huge library of books, toys for children, bird books for identifying the enormous variety of birds in the gardens, a treehouse, chickens who supply fresh eggs each day, herb garden, fruit trees (you should try the figs), well equipped kitchen, commercial grade cooker and fridge...and much more.)

It's a great property for large groups to scoailise together but still offers many quiet terraces for a peaceful escape and a quiet 5 minutes.

Nick and Mandy as hosts are incredibly knowledgable, able to direct your thinking to great walks, bike rides, drives, local towns, great restaurants and local culinary delights, the wonderful alhambra or meszuita in cordoba, They appear embedded in local life and are able to help you get the most out of your stay.

We couldn't recommend this house more highly, it's a truly stunning place and a holiday here will help you connect with everything that's good about Spain, Andalucia, family and friends.
