Description from the owner

Villefranche sur mer charming and fully remodeled in 2011, we have tried to make this nest a home away from home, with all we would like to share with our guests about our wonderful region, the Cote d'Azur, but also, with all the comfort we would like to find when we travel ! Really nicely decorated, it's perfect for a family vacation, or a romantic getaway, but also for a friends gathering. Villefranche Heaven's nest is located in the heart of the old historical town, steps from the sea, the beach, all the restaurants, shops, and easy to use public transportation. Beeing in a pedestrian area, no cars will ever trouble your vacation. Rue Baro...Read more

    Additional Location Information

Villefranche-sur-Mer is in a village in the heart of the Cote d’Azur ( between Cannes and Monaco.) Created in 1295 by Charles II d’Anjou, this village has kept its picturesque charm with the progression of the centuries. The bold colors of Mediterranean style homes, the small and steep streets and the lack of cars in the old village will bring to mind times past while offering the finest of modern cuisine, art, and scenic views. Villefranche-sur-Mer is blessed with a Mediterranean climate; mild in winter and very warm in summer. Lots of shops, and very good restaurants in the old town.

From the apartment it is only 30 minute drive west to the Nice International Airport and a 30 minute drive east to the Italian border town of Ventimiglia. It is a 15 minute drive/bus/train ride to the city of Nice and 15 minutes to the country of Monaco. The city of Villefranche-sur-Mer is accessible by train and the station is a five minute walk from the house.

      Genuine, lovely village experience.

Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Beautiful, ancient, picturesque, blue water-beach side village.
Packed with great restaurants, and sunny cafe's

'The' city is literally 2 minutes away (by train) should you need more excitement, or want to wander the old city...

Retreating back to the hushed cobbled walkways makes for a very authentic french experience.

Muriel is a great resource and can help you in perfect english should your french be a bit rusty...

Although there is so much to see nearby - we often chose not to leave the village walls.

(don't miss 'Les Garcons' a few step away (maybe 15!), both food and service are beautiful.)

We will always remember this special apartment & hope to return

Left on 04/30/2013 for a stay in January 2013

This fully-equipped modern apartment and its location are perfect! Muriel provided every possible amenity & lots of information about places to visit, transportation, restaurants, as well as answers to all our questions. There is a washer/dryer, microwave, flat-top electric stove, plenty of pots/pans, utensils, dishes; a full oven, dishwasher, big screen TV, even a full size refrigerator/freezer! The apartment is beautifully decorated and the 2 beds/baths are separated by the living area for privacy. Excellent restaurants abound in this small village, and it is simple and inexpensive to travel up and down the coast by train or bus, both just a short walk from the apartment. There are numerous shops and even outdoor vegetable/fruit/cheese/fish/etc. markets open year-round! The people are pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Beaches and scenery in Villefranche-sur-mer and throughout the area are unsurpassed in beauty and charm. We are looking forward to our next stay!

      Lovely apartment in Villefranche

Left on 04/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013

From the outset my experience with Muriel was positive and efficient. My month at Heaven's Nest was wonderful. The apartment is beautifully appointed, with everything a home away from home requires. The location is excellent, close to the restaurants and local shops near the water, and a challenging walk from the Institut de Français where I was studying. I have already booked this lovely apartment for the same time next year..and I look forward to renewing my acquaintance with the locals who so warmly welcomed me to their beautiful village.

      Fantastic!!

Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in July 2012

We had a wonderful time! Muriel is the perfect host! We loved it so much we are going again this summer. We stated a month last summer. The apartment is a great size for a family. Two bathrooms is a bonus! The welcome basket is great the first evening we were there. I tell my friends that it is like living in the quiet country with all the amenities of the city. Everything is close, restaurants, grocery stores, butcher market, the train station, the bus, the beach,...ect. Loved watching the fireworks at night. The husband toured the Citadel several times, the hike to Fort Mont alban is tiring but wonderful, sad part is it is never open. We walked there twice from the apartment. I found the people to be friendly. I would say hello to the women every day at the end of the street and the would say hi back, one day the women were gone and the men were there they said hello first!
We are excited to go again. Muriel makes all the difference. She was easly accessible, easy to talk to and willing to help. Thank you Muriel.

Left on 11/17/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We absolutely loved the ambience of the accommodation and also of Villefranche. There were so many beautiful corners of the town to explore and it catered for every need from great restaurants, beautiful views and interesting history. Nothing was too much trouble for Muriel and financial transactions were simple and efficient. Loads of information was given to us before even arriving which meant one could research everything with the minimum of fuss. Loved everything about our stay.

Nice apartment in the middle of Villefrance

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We really enjoyed our stay - a nice luxury was the aircon, so great to return 'home' and find the apartment nice and cool. The many TV channels was a great hit too, and yes who wants to watch TV when on holiday - well teens do - especially after 2 solid weeks touring around! The apartment is ideal for 4... - 5 is pushing it, but with two bathrooms and a nice kitchen/living area you have all the space you need. The Balcony is a joke and the kitchen is missing minor stuff like cutting boards and a bread basket, but its nice.
Tips - be prepare for the really unattractive entrance - not nice at all, but when inside - you're okay! Parking is a pain - basically you have to go every 3 hours and pay up, that is if you find parking at all...
Villefrance as a city could use more cleaning up and you have to watch out not to step in whatever dogs leave behind! One does get the impression that the local doesn't really care or take tourists (and the income) for granted.

      the perfect stay

Left on 07/31/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful appartment during summer 2012
It was a very nice appartment with two bathrooms which is perfect for a family of four. It was also very clean with thoughtful attentions such as beach towels and beach carpets/parasol to enjoy the beach which is just steps away from the appartment. The nearby restaurants were also very good.
We would definitely recommend this appartment
We also had the perfect greating by the appartment manager Muriel Berdat and her sister Samantha who were simply amazing, All and all the perfect set up and greeting which made are stay very enjoyable.
Villefranche sur Mer is a very nice place to vacation and the people are very friendly.

      Wonderful location

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in April 2012

There were 4of us who stayed here in april . Had a wonderful week. Great location in the center of the old vilage.Apt. is modern ,compact, but with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths it was perfect.Received a very nice welcome basket from Muriel. We rented a car for part of the week. Parking was possible but inconvenient, but the car allowed us to visit farther away. We especilly enjoyed Eze, and St Paul de Vence,2 hilltop medieval villages. The train was very convenient for trips into Nice. We enjoyed the closnesss to the sea and had a lovely week. Have to admit the stairs up from the sea or down to the apt from the street were difficult at first, but gave us some excercise after all the great bread and pastries close by. The Italien restaurant across the street was closed but we really enjoyed the one on the corner just 3 doors away, Really convenient and great food. We would definitely stay here again

Great apartment in superb location in Villefranche sur Mer

Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We had the pleasure of staying in "Heavens Nest" over the New Years holiday. We traveled with friends of ours (another couple). The stairs leading up to the apartment are a little precarious, but with a little practice of going up and down, you become accustomed. It is not recommended for anyone who needs assistance climbing stairs.

The apartment was well laid out, comfortable, ultra clean and had all of the necessities needed (and more!). We were all able to access the wifi/internet connection without much trouble at all. The bed in the master bedroom (where we stayed) was very comfy. Our room was not large but it fit the bill for sleeping and changing (there was no closet to hang items, but there were four shelves and a small drawer where things could be stowed.) The bathroom was modern, updated and tasetfully done. In the master bedroom, were two floor to ceiling windows/doors that open so that you could view the comings and goings of the townspeople below.

The location of the apartment is centrally located, with a great restaurant literally a few paces away (La Serre). There are an abundance of steps most everywhere you go in Villefranche, and it was a fun challenge to find our way around with the least steps possible! The welcome basket and start-up groceries provided by Muriel were a much appreciated touch, and its contents lasted us through the week!

Perfect place on the Cote d'Azur

Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Muriel and her husband have created the perfect place in Villefranche from which to explore the Cote d'Azur. We just returned from a wonderful week in this spotlessly clean, beautifully renovated, completely equipped apartment. The welcome basket with bread, jams, cereal, sweets and refrigerator stocked with milk, water, butter and celebratory champagne was just the start of our great experience here. We were 4 adults and the 2-bedroom, 2 bath arrangement was perfect for us. Free Wi-fi kept us connected and satellite TV allowed us to check up on the real world when we wanted (not often).

The apartment has everything you might need: modern kitchen with all the equipment for cooking at home if you want: coffee maker, juicer, pots & pans, dishes, etc. There's even a washer and dryer right in the apartment. It's obvious that a lot of thought went into making guests feel welcome and at home.

It's a 2-minute walk to the water, a 1-minute walk to a great little, reasonably price restaurant. Patisserie and grocery are steps away. A ten minute walk gets you to the train station for excursions to Monaco, Nice, Ventimiglia. The same distance to the bus which will take you along the coast for one euro. Both are easy to navigate.

Muriel will help you with whatever you need. She arranged to have us picked up at the Nice airport.

Don't hesitate to book this wonderful, cozy apartment for your stay in Villefranche Sur Mer.

      Don't Think Twice!

Left on 10/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Most reviews give similar accounts...after all, we are referencing the same places, but the short of it is...This apartment is fantastic... Stay here and enjoy it while you can! We spent a wonderful week in this fabulous, updated apartment during early September, 2011. Muriel is the perfect host... extremely thoughtful, sincere, knowledgeable, and readily available if needed. As for the apartment in general, we found it lacking in nothing... all the comforts and conveniences of home were available, including a wonderfully thoughtful and useful welcome basket, replete with wine to start our journey in Villefranche. As two couples we particularly enjoyed the two separate and complete bathrooms. Wifi and the phone service worked splendidly and gave us a sense of security and relief maintaining a connection with family back home when necessary. The television was wonderful but never used since we were too busy taking in all of Villefranche! The location is great being close to all conveniences, sights, and amenities, including train access...even the beach is but a very pleasant stroll away! A wonderful variety of restaurants are within a short walk. Perhaps the best restaurant of all, one of combined value and quality, is literally across the walkway. Don't miss it! Probably the single most important impression we have in retrospect is that we truly felt at home! The locals are friendly and helpful, and we spoke with people that have returned on numerous occasions for the beauty, the warmth and the charm of Villefranche sur Mer. We truly hated to leave and continue to talk about an encore!

My Family - my wife , myself and two grown up children (24 + 26) had a blast at Muriels place. Very comfortable apartment -ideal for four adults.
Centrally located in the heart of old town Villefranche... amongst the narrow cobbled streets with superb cafes and restaurants. A short stroll to the harbour and to the beach.
Walk to the train station for regular service to Nice (and wetsward) and to Monaco (eastward).
Would have loved to stay longer than the four great days we had there ... will book earlier next time.

Perfect ! The apartment was 5 star ! Tastefully furnished with every modern convenience, broadband, satellite TV, dvd player, dishwasher. We stayed for one month and the owner had thought of everything to make you feel at home.
Its just a 2 minutes walk to the sea front with numerous restaurants to choose from but if you want to cook at home the local shops are on your door step and the kitchen has every appliance. Local transport is within easy reach but the old town has limited parking but I believe thats the south of France in general.
