    Additional Location Information

Villefranche is situated 4km from Nice Centre and 7km from Nice International airport. A well kept secret as it retains it's charm due to lack of major hotels nearby. You can happily spend all your time in the Village discovering it's wonderful history and why artists such as Jean Cocteau and Sommerset Maughan loved this area so much. In the 60's the music of the Rolling Stones could be heard across the bay from their villa on Cap Ferrat. Yet the village still retains it's authentic feeling. If you do wish to venture forth, the train which is 7 mins away runs all along the coast. Nice or Monaco are ten mins away or you can be in Italy (Ventimiglia) in 40 mins. The village of Eze is 20 mins by car or St Paul de Vence, Cannes and Antibes about 40 mins. A car is not essential and the walks here are fabulous. There is parking nearby. This is the best location on this fabulous coast by far. The French language Institute, Institut Francais, is a 10 minute walk away.

      Treasure on the Côte d'Azur

Left on 03/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Excellent location, a few minutes walk from the centre of this beautiful town, views across the bay to Cap Ferrat and access to excellent rail and bus services. It is perfect for a couple or single occupant. Petit Tresor is well equipped and furnished and with a relatively large terrace which captures the early morning sun. Its Wi-Fi connection is excellent. This apartment is the sort you would like to own and feel lucky to be able to rent.
The owner, Sue, was extremely helpful throughout the process of booking, meeting us, providing information on the locality and checking out.

Our latest guest just said that the photos online do not do this apartment justice. She will be writing a review hopefully soon to expand on her impressions. We will take new photos later in the year and be posting them as soon as we can. In the meanwhile please read what our guests say about this lovely apartment.
      Thank you, Mattie

Petiti Tresor is just that, a little treasure on the hillside of Villefranche-sur-Mer, a special little village where we'd love to settle some day. Thanks, Mattie and Sue, for a wonderful stay during my time at the Institut. Everything felt fresh and new and cozy. You can tell that this apartment is well-loved and very well looked after. I can't imagine a more perfect location for studying at the Institut. The front door of the property is a 10-second walk from the back garden gate. This was a huge gift for me after long days in class, even though I love to walk. Having a parking space is rare, and having an elevator is also not that common. My husband and I loved the terrace with views of the bay, Cap Ferrat, and out over the hills into the Mediterranean. This little home is perfect for 1 or 2 people, with large closets and a good-sized kitchen. Sue was very welcoming, and has a vast array of travel information for the area, plus a wide selection of books. All in all, a comfortable, convenient, enjoyable stay.

      Superb apartment

Left on 08/06/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our recent stay at Petit Tresor was an absolute delight. Sue's welcome was cordial and inviting: the apartment had been thoroughly cleaned and prepared for our stay, with a well-stocked array of domestic supplies, and Sue was kind enough to wait patiently for us as we navigated the roads through Bastille Day traffic from the airport to Villefranche. As for the apartment itself: it is bright, cheerful, recently renovated, and furnished in the very best of taste, with books, lovely objets d'art, and comfortable furniture, and the layout--a living room extending into a decent-sized kitchen along two sliding glass doors that open to the large deck (and the sweeping view of the bay and sea!) assures cool breezes even on warm days as well as an overall sense of spaciousness. The king-sized bed in the bedroom in the rear was very comfortable, and cooled by a large ceiling fan easily controlled with a remote. We had rented a car, but ultimately we found that we did not need it: a ten-minute walk took us to shops, restaurants, and nearby beach areas, and a three-minute walk took us to the nearby Lignes d'Azur bus stop, where the 100 Bus stops every fifteen minutes or so for short rides into Nice and a bit further in the other direction to Monaco. So--yes--we had a lovely stay, and we highly recommend Petit Tresor for the little treasure that it truly is.

      Home away from Home

Left on 07/07/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The location of this apartment is such that through one door of the apartment building access to l'institut is just steps away, while through another lower door, the village is just a five minute walk. I have lived here for 4 weeks and I could not give a higher recommendation. As I have described the apartment to others, it feels immediately as if you are staying in the home of a friend. The terrace is rich with flowers and comfortable chairs and a table to prepare your homework, drink a glass of wine and/or sit down for dinner, and the view is as the french would say, 'super'. The luxuries of this apartment I find, are: the silent but wonderful ceiling fan in the bedroom which allows for a cool and mosquito free nights sleep, the beautifully renovated bathroom equipped with a tub for soaking, a rain shower and a hand held shower, the cleanliness of the apartment, the quietness of being just slightly off of the main village road which stays busy until all hours of the night, the constant breeze from being on the hillside (which isn't apparent in the village) that cools the apartment in the evening, the beautiful morning sunshine on the terrace with coffee before class, and the short walk home, just two blocks, after a late dinner or a night out with drinks in the village. Sue, the owner of the apartment, is very welcoming and nice and lives close by. She has been very helpful throughout my stay with all of my questions about Villefranche, transport, restaurants, sights, etc... I hope that I might come every year to Villefranche for study and that I will always be able to stay in this apartment.

Warm, welcoming, convenient and exceptional clean!

Left on 05/26/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Hi Mattie and Sue, Just wanted to send you both a Thank you.
The apartment was a delight. It's well appointed with french flair. Ideal for students at the Institut de Francais but equally a delightful little retreat with easy access to the old town and with views of one of the most beautiful bays on the French Riviera.
Sue's attention to detail means its well maintained and exceptionally clean...you simply arrive, unpack your suitcase/s in the plentiful wardrobe space and your holiday commences...
