Located on the Basse Corniche between Nice and Monaco, Villefranche Sur Mer, dates back to 130BC and is unquestionably the most beautiful coastal village on the Cote D'Azur. There are narrow paved streets, quaint shops, art galleries, museums and a 16th century citadel.
The “Rue Obscure” (covered street) dates from the 14th century, while Chapelle St Michel is in a baroque style from the 18th century. In June 1538, on Port de la Santé, the “Treaty of Nice” was signed between Spanish Emperor Charles V and French King Francois I, with Pope Paul III as mediator.
Chapelle Sainte-Elisabeth, is now an exhibition venue for many local artists and sculptors. For €2.50 you can visit Chapelle Saint Pierre with its hallucinatory scenes from St. Peter’s life painted in the 1920’s by renowned artist, Jean Cocteau.
Diners in the waterfront restaurants, such as the world renowned “La Mere Germaine”, can watch fishermen bring a catch ashore to sell on Promenade des Marinieres, or spot celebrities on the tenders going to and fro from luxury yachts anchored in the bay.
The village square regularly hosts an open market with antiques, local crafts and produce. Elsewhere, Place Amélie Pollonnais is home to al fresco dining in local favourites, Cosmo or Les Palmiers. There is an incredibly laid back ambience as rock stars and celebrities mingle undisturbed with the locals.
Dina Palace is between the village and world renowned Institut de Francais, which is a mere 10 minute stroll.
The beach is about 100 metres from the apartment. You can soak up the sun with your holiday novel or cool down in the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
There is an efficient transport system. The bustling city of Nice is just 10 minutes by bus and the Royal Principality of Monaco about 20 minutes. A day bus and tram pass is only €4. The train from Villefranche Sur Mer travels along perhaps the most picturesque route in the world.

The local towns of Bealieu Sur Mer, Eze and St Jean Cap Ferrat are minutes away by car. You can explore by water taxi, rent a boat or scuba dive from Port de la Santé, 100 metres from the Dina Palace apartment.
