This is our third stay at the Cedar house and we have stayed twice at the Boulder house and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The views from the house are spectacular and the deck can't be beat, at both homes. The house is a family home, simply but comfortably appointed and it comes with a pick up truck which is great for touring the beaches. The living dining area is lovely and the louvered design of the homes allows you to enjoy both the trade winds and the views from your hilltop perch, nestled in among the locals homes. When you check in at immigration and say that you are staying at the Hunter homes, you get an approving smile from the locals as Father Hunter was beloved on the island. His son, Steve, and his wife Madeleine, are gracious hosts offering up great insiders tips. If you are looking for a casual, relaxed place, at a family beach home loaded with history, either the Cedar or Boulder house is for you.

Hey gang, This was our first trip to the Bvi's. My wife found Hunter Homes (Cedar and Boulder Houses) on Vrbo and gravitated towards these initially b/s they include use of a vehicle. After reading the property descriptions and viewing pictures, we were sold. We stayed in the Cedar House. The Ford Ranger is brand New...it was awesome. This home is a shining example of old-school charm and functionality in a beach house. All-cedar (floor to ceiling), more sleeping room than you can shake a stick at, and has louvered-screened windows around the entire house...all 4 sides. With the constant trade winds, this makes for absolute relaxing comfort. The breezes at night were enchanting. ***We really can't emphasize this louvered aspect enough*** The views out the front are incredible, as are those out the back of the house. We were basically in awe every morning. We traveled the whole island over the first 2 days and quickly realized that this house is perfectly located. The best beaches (Spring Bay-Trunk Bay and Savanna Bay) were around 5 minutes away as are the grocery stores. The owner is super-easy to deal with and very helpful, as are his on-island staff. The staff (Howard or Erma) meet you at the dock with the truck, take you back to the house and get you settled in, and are available thru-out your stay to answer questions. We've been to many other Caribbean locals, and this was our favorite so far. We will be coming back to VG, and we will stay with the Hunter's again without doubt!!!

We have been visiting Virgin Gorda off and on for the last 18 years, the last 10 in one of the Hunter homes…we love the Cedar House! The house sits on the hill above Spanish Town (The Valley) and has the most magnificent views…you can watch the sun come up over the Atlantic Ocean or sit on the deck and watch the ships and the awesome sunsets looking down the St. Francis Drake Channel. The house is conveniently located so that you can walk to a grocery store(our favorite is Supra Valu), restaurants (our favorites are the Mine Shaft, The Rock and Mad Dog’s for BLT’s), to Spanish Town Marina and church.
It is spacious…enough room to take your whole family. It has a well appointed kitchen for making a snack or having a dinner party. The house comes complete with TV, DSL internet service, games, books and a clothes line to hang up wet towels and bathing suits when you come home from the beach. Having the truck included enables you to roam the island and visit all the beautiful beaches for swimming, snorkeling or just enjoying the sun, sand, and sea (our favorites are Spring Bay, Savannah Beach and “The Baths”). I have saved the best for last, Shirley!! Shirley is a delightful woman who comes 6 days a week to clean the house, including the bathrooms, making the beds and doing the breakfast dishes…it is a wonderful service and you will enjoy her too.
We can recommend the Hunter homes to anyone and everyone…renting from the Hunters is always a pleasure! Irma and Howard are on island and always there if you need them. Enjoy!

The Cedar House has everything you need for a relaxing, unpretentious island experience.
The layout of the Cedar house allows for beautiful views of both the Atlantic and the Caribbean in a quiet neighborhood at the top of Crabbe hill. A quick ride in the truck guarantees you have full access to the island and any of the beaches.
Shirley the housekeeper is always there to help us understand whats happening on the island and making sure our stay is relaxed.
What's best about the the Cedar house is you feel a connection to the community because of the history of the Hunter family on Virgin Gorda.
