A vacation beyond our dreams!

After much research and looking at photos of our selected villa, Sol Y Sombra for months before traveling I thought I had a good idea of what to expect on our family vacation. We arrived by boat and were greeted at the dock right on schedule. As we approached our villa, the intriguing driveway in itself was so beautiful. We were escorted through the first gated entry and immediately embraced by the charm and beauty this villa has to offer. Words cannot describe the first time we saw the breathtaking view as we came down the stairs into the main living area. We finished our tour and became acquanted with our home away from home, and this was the beginning of a vacation experience beyond every expectation. The one or two minor bumps that any family of 7 could have while traveling paled in comparison to the beauty, relaxation, and fun we had during our stay at Sol Y Sombra! - Donna S., New Jersey, USA

If all you arelooking for is location then this one is good. The property manager stopped by any time of day and just walked into the great room without notice. She entered any room at her whim and even found her in my bedroom for no apparent reason. The one time I actually needed her when the air conditioner quit, she took her time. It actually leaked through to drip on the bed in the lower suite. So both couples were impacted. 24 hours after reporting the problem it was finally fixed. The property manager actually wanted me to spend my last day of vacation waiting for them to fix it and be in the room (which was unbearbly hot by then). She then said she would be there but never showed up again. We spent a very hot night and they did not provide an alternative. The site says showers are al fresco but the whole bathroom is too. We could not get ready after a shower due to the heat and lack of air circulation and bugs. In the sugar mill the bedroom is one level up from the bath..again no one tells you this. It was a very bad set up and the steps were slick mainly due to the air conditioning leak. Not convenient when you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night..an accident waiting to happen. The tennis villa has one TV in the "living area" but not in the bedroom area which means the people using the day beds get to watch TV but the parents don't. The kitchen is scorching hot with no air circulation and the oven works only some times. The property staff are very nice but it feels like they are checking up on guests. One arrived before 7 am and woke up the couple in the master suite. I kept being told that this was the #1 luxury villa there but I found this to be absolutely not true. Further, Where to Stay.com is one I do not recommend using to book any of your vacations I know I won't. The setting is beautiful and good snorkeling off the beach.
