Additional Location Information
Virgin Gorda is known for its quiet beaches, great sailing, restaurants and friendly residents. Virgin Gorda has some very spectacular beaches that are not crowded or commercialized. We are located in the desirable North Sound end of the Island with all the restaurants and resorts close by. One of our favorite things to do after a beach day is to drive the short one mile to the dock at nearby North Sound. There is a welcome center that serves as the dock for the free scheduled water taxies that take you to the various restaurants and resorts in North Sound. We usually just get on the first one that shows up and that’s where we are going for dinner. These include the Bitter End Resort, Biras Creek Resort, Saba Rock and the new YCCs Yacht Club.
The beaches range from the world famous Baths with the spectacular giant round granite boulders which form pools and grottos along a beautiful sandy beach or if you prefer Savannah Bay beach which is usually deserted and has beautiful sand and snorkeling. Most of the beaches have great snorkeling and are protected from the trade winds and waves and have soft, white sand . The beach in front of our house ranges from rocky on one end to sandy on the other. The sand is a slightly darker color as turtle grass and seaweed wash up as this area faces into the trade winds but is protected by the reef.

This is a large, spectacular, private, idyllic house in a unique and picturesque South Sound location. Our bedroom was a suite with a large private bath complete with an indoor and outdoor shower and large tub overlooking South Sound. There is plenty of outdoor lounging space either facing the sound with steady trade winds from the east, or on the patio around the pool. Think "relaxation." The house is within walking distance to the water taxi landing to The Bitter End and other resorts in North Sound. It is also a quick trip over the mountain to Spanish Town, the center of activity on Virgin Gorda. Although the house is wonderful, the real star of our trip was Virgin Gorda itself. Everything about it is relaxing and memorable. One will not find better beaches anywhere in the Caribbean. Savannah Bay and the Baths are simply beautiful. We did some extensive snorkeling at those beaches, and also snorkeled with great success in South Sound in front of the house. One of the best things about Virgin Gorda is the people who live there. Without exception, they are warm, friendly and helpful. We never had the slightest concern about security or safety, unlike our experience in the U.S. Virgins. Although there are several ways to get to VG, we found that flying non-stop to San Juan, followed by a 40 minute puddle jumper flight was the easiest. We will definitely return to BVI and anam Cara.

Anam Cara- This villa is terrific. It looks out above a very secluded bay; it is very private and surrounded by nature: sealife, birds, and animals. The night time skies are brilliantly clear and starry. All the rooms are spacious and have great views, and there are comfortable places everywhere for eating, viewing and relaxing.
Outside, there are plenty of things to do and places to go. Snorkeling is probably the first order of business, and the island beaches are gorgeous. A beach called the ‘The Baths’ and one called Spring Bay have some amazing rock formations.
The island people are pleasant, the weather is unbeatable, and the food is great.
Very pleasant and enjoyable. -

Our stay at anam Cara Villa in Virgin Gorda is still sending waves of pleasure through me. The villa was gorgeous and comfortable. We had a king bedroom overlooking the cove where I watched three sea turtles swimming! The vistas from every window were breathtaking and oh-so- beautiful. The charm of Virgin Gorda grabbed hold of me and holds me still...the free-running chickens with their chicks, baby goats with their nannies, cows and calves all are part of this incredible landscape, as of course are pelicans and amazing volcanic rock formations in an area known as The Baths. The Baths were a jaw-dropping experience all by itself! The turquoise water warm and inviting was great for snorkeling.
The villa has a convenient and generous kitchen, tables to dine inside or out on the terrace overlooking the water. Lovely living room overlooks the water. The pool has a swim up bar and a view that takes hold and fills you up with so much expansive beauty. We watched shooting stars from the chaise lounges near the pool accompanied by a chorus of crickets from the hillside and the sound of the waves breaking over the coral reef.
I could go on, but go experience this magical place yourself! -

Spanking new, beautifully appointed, loaded with creature comforts. Good for a group or a couple. Decks and views make it feel like you're always on the water. Very soothing location and property. The friendliest people and island. Pristine private beaches for swimming, sunning and snorkeling. Water taxis nearby to bring you to restaurants and shops on Saba and The Bitter End. Can't wait to go back.

If your looking for a luxury villa that is very private, this is your place. Everything is new and high end. Stayed in the pool house which had great views and a comfortable king size bed.
There is a large kitchen mingling area which is comfortable to stand or sit. You can also grill outside by the pool patio area.
Large tables on the main deck allows for dining outside. There are a number of decks overlooking the water where you can either sun or hang out in the shade. No light pollution so star gazing is awesome. Saw turtles, rays and all kinds of fish snorkeling in the reef right by the villa.
Although private, the villa is convenient to the Bitter End YC/ Saba Rock by water taxi and there is a local grocery store about 1 mile away. It's also near the best beach, Savannah Bay.
Would highly recommend this property -

Anam Cara is every bit as gorgeous as the pictures show. It is brand new (what a treat). Every bedroom is private, well sound proofed, comfortable beds, huge private luxury bathrooms with big soaking tubs and separate tiled showers, and several (if not all) have private outdoor showers. The pool is gorgeous -overlooking the ocean and the patio is huge, with a barbecue pit and bar area. The decks are amazing. The kitchen is gorgeous and well stocked for a huge group of people. The owners are delightful, helpful, honest.
You drive almost a mile on a private dirt road to get to the house. There's only one other house in the distance. You can snorkel in the bay in front of the house (no real beach) but we saw several small manta rays and lobsters and numerous reef fish. the house is close to Leverick Bay for a wonderful dinner in their open air dining room. Great for renting a boat ($100 a day for a little motorboat/dinghy to get all around). Close to the free water taxis to go to Saba Rock or dinner (a must though expensive), and to Bitter End and Biras Creek. (the tuna salad at Fat Virgin Cafe was the best I've ever had). To get anywhere on the island is less than a 30 minute drive. The Baths. Mine Shaft Cafe for sunset dinner and view. Sugarcane Restaurant too. Coco May had great food and an amazing setting. The Food Palace for inexpensive takeout of local food. Mahogany Car Rental was terrific. Virgin Gorda is a gorgeous island. Almost all the beaches were secluded and private (at the height of the season) and had some decent snorkeling from the beach. Don't expect beach chairs and umbrellas etc, except at Little Dix (which is a gorgeous beach and has a wonderful open air restaurant for lunch on the water) And at Bitter End (but it's not the best beach, swimming). We flew non stop to San Juan, had a 5:00 reservation with air Sunshine, but we got in early enough the escorted us right onto the 2:30 flight and we were swimming at Savannah Bay by 3;30. All very easy.
We're already planning out next trip. Would recommend the place to families, groups of friends. You will love it. You do have to be able to walk up some steps from the driveway to the house...so be prepared for that. And, if you're in the master suite, or one of the second floor rooms...then there's steps inside. The pool suites only require a few stairs.
Anam Cara is the best if you want all the modern conveniences, in a tropical paradise.
