We do not want to reccomend this to too many people...because we want to keep this secret all to ourselves. This is the place to vacation...relaxation with all the amenities! Room for everyone and everything. The folks at the Santuary are great.

MarltonRelaxing beach vacation with upscale amenities
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My favorite things about this condo... Sitting on the balcony listening to the roar of the ocean waves! It is as close as you can get to ocean front without paying ocean front prices. The only drawback to not being oceanfront though is that you can't watch the sunrise over the ocean (the building is in the way!). Luckily, it's on the first floor right next to the stairwell down one easy flight to the beach and promenade for easy viewing. It's the perfect condo for the convenience of getting back and forth to the pool and beach with 3 young kids and all our gear. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out, yet we're never too far apart.
The entire place was very clean and well maintained and had an upscale feel. The staff were super friendly and check in was a breeze. The garage storage closet came in very handy for storing our beach stuff, though I'd recommend you bring your own chairs and things. The kids were bored at night with not a whole lot to do if you're used to commercial vacation spots (which we are), but that's exactly what my husband and I were looking for. A completely relaxing vacation without any pressure to run to a boardwalk, arcade, mini- golf, etc. We spent a lot of time at the great playground and fishing pier close by. The pools were a lot of fun, each one had something different. We lived in them and they were never over crowded.
Coincidentally, our house sold while on vacation and while negotiating could have ruined the trip, it was so relaxing at The Sanctuary that we got through it with the least amount of stress and anxiety as possible! It truly was a vacation away from it all and we came home feeling relaxed, not like we needed a vacation to recuperate ( which is how we usually come home from our more commercial locations!) -

Cortland, OhioFirst Time First Great Impression
Left on 03/04/2010 for a stay in August 2009
Our family has visited the Tidewater area several summers over the past 30 years. For a change, we decided to "risk" a visit further south than VA Beach and happened to discover Sanctuary.
What really impressed us when we first entered Sanctuary was the cabana curbside attendance of the on site office staff to check us in. It seemed like a greeting we would expect in the islands… never in VAB. We never left our car and continued straight to our condo. The courtesy continued throughout our stay.
We found the condo floor plan very appropriate and comfortable like home. My favorite place was the double spacious balconies and oceanfront pool with the swim-up bar, but also, that beach walk to the "no humans allowed" barrier is beautiful.
Sanctuary is unnaturally large for the neighborhood, but the entire complex was remarkably quiet and non offensive. Sanctuary is also a low profile, Bahamas like villa design, so you are not staring up from the beach at 15-20 stories of building like you might find in town.
The area is dark at night. There may be only one street light working outside of Sanctuary and that just adds to the ambiance of the seaside village. Sand dunes gradually over take roads. Beautiful evening storms.
Other guests were well behaved and the spirited locals who visited the local establishments were respectful and accommodating of our temporary invasion to their neighborhood.
We did not use the gas grilling areas scattered throughout the complex, but found many families preparing in a spacious large patio garden areas which always seemed private regardless of the number of people enjoying dinner.
There are few places to dine locally, 4-6, I think, but we didn't come here to eat. So you need to be prepared to drive back to the VA Beach area if eating is an important part of your stay. Up the road are great local stops that were always packed, so timing your meals will be very important, if you plan to dine out often.
