This beautifully restored 100 year old country cottage is nestled in a valley in the green heart of Central Portugal. It is ideally situated in a peaceful village edge location but only a couple of minutes drive to the thriving town of Mortagua where there are many shops, bars and restaurants.
Mountains, lakes and river beaches are some of the natural highlights of the local area, with some historic treasures to discover also. Enchanting Bussaco Palace, The University City of Coimbra and Conimbriga Roman ruins are just some of the delights not to be missed during your stay in this idyllic location.

We stayed here on the recommendation of my dad. This is a little cottage that has been converted, next to the owner's house. Marcus and Michaela couldn't have been more welcoming. The cottage itself is about 5 minutes in the car from Mortagua, on the edge of a quiet village. There is a lovely sun terrace outside the cottage, secure parking, and the kitchen is well kitted out for a week's stay. There are supermarkets in the next village and at Mortagua, so this is a good location for self catering.
There is a lovely bar about 2 mins drive / 15 min flat walk away, the Canu Bar, which we would recommend for a bite to eat and a beer. The bigger towns of Santa Comba Dao and Luso are both about 20 min drive - both have direct trains to Coimbra and Guarda, with good connections for Lisbon and Porto.
This is a totally different Portugal to the algarve and the Beiras is a very rural area - it's the kind of place you could get hooked on coming as the people here are so friendly and there is a totally different pace of life. If you want to get away for a peaceful, relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle, I would highly recommend this place for somewhere to wind down.
