Additional Location Information

Access is via 4WD road. Visitors come to Mount Totumas Cloud Forest to enjoy an isolated wilderness retreat. There are no shops, stores or restaurants and this is a destination not a place to base yourself while visiting western Chiriqui due to the remote location. If you are looking for pristine cloud forest wilderness you have found the right place!

Mount Totumas Cloud Forest is a 400-acre site located in far western Chiriqui, Panama just a few miles from the Costa Rican border. The site borders La Amistad National Park, an immense protected wilderness of 1.5 million acres. Proximity to this national park contributes directly to the ecological integrity and rich biodiversity of Mount Totumas Cloud Forest. Our homestead provides visitors with an unparalleled wilderness experience.

When you wake up at our mountain retreat, you are greeted by the calls of howler monkeys. Trails at your doorstep lead you in a few short minutes into some of the most spectacular upland forests remaining in Central America. At 1900 meters the site is a prime nesting area for Resplendent Quetzals and Three Wattled Bellbirds.

View the location on Google Earth (8°53'03.11N, 82° 41'04.80"W) and notice the vast area to the north, part of La Amistad National Park, the largest tract of protected virgin upland forest remaining in Central America.
