Summerland, CanadaLovely spot in the jungle
Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This was a really unique place in the middle of a lush rainforest. Place was well set up, very neat and tidy. Was a cool night, took a while to warm up with space heaters and fireplace going but was fine for sleeping. Very nice property, with the treehouse and lush surroundings. Very quiet neighbourhood, no traffic or any other noise except crickets or whatever was chirping at night. Hot tub was a nice touch, though seemed quite old it was working. Perfect spot for getting to the national park, less than 10 minutes away. Was kinda pricey for 1 night, much less than 24 hours really, especially when you add in the cleaning fee. Would not be much to clean, we had no meals, really only used the beds and the hot tub briefly.

Aloha and thank you for the review. We are grateful the hot tub still functions like a champ as it is built in to the deck and the same dimensions are no longer available. We are happy you were pleased with the spiffiness of the house. Not sure if you made it up to the pavilion, another part of the house that is also available for your use, and cleaned before every guest arrives. Unlike a hotel, we do not have a cleaning staff but must hire in someone to do the job. It matters to us not only how well the cleaning is done, but that we pay anyone who is a part of our business a living wage. As you stayed only a single night, we did reduce the cleaning rate for you. For stays longer than a single night, the per night charge on the house is also significantly reduced. This is by way of encouraging travelers to spend a little more time at the park. There are less expesnive places to stay near the park, but you will not have a hot tub and probably you will have neighbors in the next room. Mahalo for staying with us, and we hope you like the place enough to come back and stay a little while longer. Aloha!

Charlotte, North CarolinaRainforest paradise
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012
After a few days in the chaotic downtown area of Honolulu, arriving at the Chalet was like finding in paradise. Peaceful, quiet, and an absolute joyful place to stay. The grounds are gorgeous with so much fauna and flora that with every "walkabout" we found something new. The morning visits from the pheasant family were a real treat and the proximity to Volcano National Park and the Hilo area was perfect. Just a great place to stay.

A very secret get away
Left on 10/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012
If you are interested in a very special get away, above the noise and crowds, except for the song birds and rustling leaves, this is the place to go. This small place packs so much into it.
The entire experience is so memorable. The outdoor shower is private and exhilerating and I just want to stand under the water and look up and around. The cozy fire place lends itself to just staying in and enjoying the company of your best friend along with a glass of wine or champagne. A comfy bed in among the trees with a breeze blowing. A must go to place and a must return to place. Thanks Gail and Robert for making it so special.Response from Gail W Armand & Robert van Sluis - 11/17/2012
