      Volcano-close Luxury

Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Superb house - plush landscaping, beautiful interiors, quiet, private, well taken care of, nice floorplan, excellent location. You could see a lot of thought was put into the decor, and it is one of the only vacation villas It felt like we were all alone in the middle of a jungle. The hot tub was easy to use and it was convenient to pop in from soaking, through the outside door into the master shower. It was very close (but not really within walking distance) to a few nice restaurants and two mini grocery stores. We tried thai food for the very first time at Thai Thai Restaurant and would highly recommend the restaurant! The distance from the house to the gate of Volcanoes National Park is less than 4 miles away. Make sure you stay at the park after dark to see the caldera! This house and its surroundings were our family's favorite part of our Big Island vacation!

      memorable

Left on 03/22/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed at this very nice home for two nights in February. The rental is a very good representation of the property. Our group consisted of two retired couples in their mid to late sixties but it would be a great location for a large family. It is on a quite road with easy access to the village or just a short drive to Volcano National Park. It truly is someone's home not just a rental. The home has many old photographs of (I assume) the orginal owners and what life looked like. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with most things that anyone would need to prepare a gourmet meal. The property was in very good condition and well kept. We had a small problem with the lack of electricity. Apparently the breaker on the pole by the road flips off once in a while when the hot tub is turned up. Believe me the hot-tub is hard to resist in such a great location as this late in the evening before bedtime or after a late trip to the Park for night viewing of the volcano. The rental agent was very prompt and even called the neighbors who fixed the problem right away. You could not have asked for better service late at nite. The grounds themseleves are very well landscaped. The property is fenced and gated. The large porch(veranda)surrounds the house and is where you will want to spend your mornings drinking coffee or your evenings with a glass of wine, watching the stars. Each bedroom has a door that opens to the porch. There are two fireplaces which is an added benefit as the evenings can have a slight chill to them. One of the fireplaces is in the master bedroom which a a very nice large room. The only problem I might see with the home is the third bedroom has to access the bathroom thru the second bedroom. The second bathroom has its own heater which is great when you step out of the shower.
I would love to stay again. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Absolutely loved the look of Lani Wai Hale on the website and it really did live up to all we expected. The house is just beautiful - lovely big verandahs, beautiful rooms, superb attention to detail. All the little things made it feel like home - and everything we needed was there. A great place for couples or families (like us) - calm and serene. We'll definitely return.

The Lani Wai Hale experience was an experience of a lifetime. This place felt so much like home. It had all the amenities and special touches that made this stay very special. To be in the Volcano, the rainforest, total privacy and celebrating our 30th anniversary was beyond our wildest dreams. We would love to return.

      Beautiful home in Volcano

Left on 09/26/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed for three dats and two nights in this beautiful home while visting Volcano, hi. Although it felt like we were in a rain forest, we were only minutes from the entrance to Volcano National park. The master bedroom was amazing-complete with a sitting room with a fireplace, a steam shower and a jacuzzi right off the bedroom. We enoyed the wrap around porch with a cup of Kona coffee. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My wife and I have rented many vacation homes over the years in California, Hawaii, Oregon, among other locations.
This home was by a long way the nicest, best equipped home we have ever stayed in. The bed in the master suite was amazingly comfortable. The shower/steam room combo was a nice unexpected surprise and something we took full advantage of. We were there with another couple who also had a nice suite of their own with a bathroom in the room. Great place for two couples. It's convieniently located, a short drive to the town of Vocano (3-4 min.) and only 6 or 7 minutes to Volcano National Park.
The only regret we had was that our schedule was so busy that we didn't just kick back around the house for a day and enjoy the large decks and beautifully landscaped yard.
The walls of the home had many family pictures on them. It is a nice touch and while looking at them you wonder about the history of the people in the photos.
Kudo's to the designer(s) and decorator(s), you did a wonderful job on this home!

Great place to stay to visit the Volcano National Park

Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This house was just perfect for myself and the family. It was very well maintained and even had a outdoor hot tub and steam room that we took advantage of every night. The house inside had everything you needed for your stay including beach towels so we did not have to bring our own. We ate breakfast and dinner at the house on a couple of nights and the kitchen was fully equipped and stocked with essential items. It was great to have a coffee maker too as we certainly took advantage of the great Kona coffee. The Volcano National park is about an 8 minute drive from the house which was a perfect distance. Also the road the house is on was very quite so no traffic noise at all. The grounds of the house were immaculate and contained beautiful flowers. If you needed to do some laundry their was a full size washer and dryer located in the garage which was great. Overall we enjoyed the Volcano side much more than the Kona side and wished we had spent more days on the East side rather than the west side. We wold certainly stay here again on our next trip only for longer

Lani Wai Hale - A Fantastic House

Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Six of us stayed at the Lani Wai Hale just outside of Volcano National Park. The house and grounds were fantastic. The fireplace made things cozy at night and the hot tub was very relaxing. The master bedroom (with sauna shower) was very large as was the living room. Furnishings were very nice. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The only downside was that we were charged extra for each member of our party (including my 6 1/2 year old grandson).

      Beautiful, comfortable vacation home

Left on 03/08/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We stayed at this lovely home for two nights for a small family getaway. Loved the furnishings, especially the kitchen, dining, living and master bedrooms. The hot tub was wonderful and placed in the perfect setting. Grounds were beautifully maintained, especially enjoyed the softly lit asian statue water feature. The only two things we felt could be improved were that the main fireplace doesn't draw well (perhaps needs cleaning?) and so the rooms got quite smoky at times. Because there is no other way of heating the house, we had to keep the fire going anyway. The second thing is that there is no washer/dryer available. We agree with other reviewers that this would be a desireable addition to this vacation home.

      Beautiful home!

Left on 12/31/2011 for a stay in December 2011

Our group was very impressed with the lava rock fireplaces, steam shower, and hot tub. The home had everything we could dream of except warmth. We are from Ohio and it gets very cold there. Many people use fireplace inserts to blow the heat of the fire into the room instead of up the chimney. Especially such a large open chimney will draft most heat up not back into the room. The temp inside was the same as the temp outside but a house feels colder because there isnt any warm air flow. We would have gladly paid more per night to not be cold.

      Far from the madding crowd

Left on 12/03/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Lani Wai Hale is a very well appointed place to stay if you are looking for a base from which to explore the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is quiet, private and very comfortable. There are only a few restaurants in Volcano Village but all are okay, while Kilauea Lodge is excellent - everything on the menu appealed to me greatly. Be warned, however, that Lani Wai Hale is located in a rain forest, so expect cool weather, rain and humidity! In view of that, the only criticism I have of the place is its total lack of laundry and dryer: in this climate you really need a means of drying towels (there is a laundromat in the village for other washing needs). I hope to return one day for another look at the volcanoes.

With all the rentals to choose from, I am glad we chose Lani Wai Hale for our trip to Volcano.
