Perfect location for Volcano, comfortable accommodation

Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed here in January 2013 with our extended family. It was within 10 minutes of Volcano National Park and so close that you could easily come back for lunch or a rest between hikes or to go back to the park for the night view of the crater. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the 2 and a half baths were a plus, and as everyone mentions, the woodwork that was done by the owner is lovely. The hot tub is in a nice setting in the yard. The convenience and comfort combined this into a perfect accommodation for us.

      Absolutely perfect!

Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in January 2013

A gorgeous house! Stunning wood, lovely decor, secluded hot tub under the stars and palm trees,, close to the volcano national park. I wish the owner would come and build some woodwork for our house! And, very thoughtful touches like a fridge well stock with fresh greens and breakfast items, shampoo in the showers, rooms heaters to take the chill off at night. The park is astounding and after hiking, it was heaven to come home to such a beautiful spot in a rainforest, with birds singing. Anyone would love this house. And try the great Thai restaurant nearby..amazing food! Thanks adam !

Need a Home Base at Volcanoes National Park? Stay at Hale Ma_uk

Left on 01/22/2012 for a stay in January 2012

My family of six adults traveled to Hawaii to hike Volcanoes National Park January 10-13, 2012. I searched Trip advisor to find the perfect, local rental for the trip. After contacting six property managers and gettng prices and details, we chose Hale Ma_ukele based on its proximity to the park (~1 mile) and the good reviews and the property's nice pictures and website. We were very pleased with our choice. The home is beautiful, open and comfortable as described. Adam, the property manager, is very easy to work with and very responsive to emails. The property is well maintained and well-priced. It is so close to Volcanoes National Park that we were able to hike, return to Hale Ma_ukele for lunch, and then go back to the park again for more hiking. Our group agreed that Hale Ma_ukele is a superb property in a perfect location for families who want to maximize their time at Volcanoes. The first night, the hot tub didn't work, but adam was very quick to have it fixed the next day and credited us to make up for our disappointment. If I were to plan the vacation again, I would definitely stay at Hale Ma_ukele for my Volcanoes National Park but would also plan in some time to stay at a beachfront resort as well. The Volcanoes area is a rain forest so it was a little rainier and cooler day and night at the property than I had expected.

Terrific house in the middle of the rain forest!

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in October 2010

This beautiful (and spacious) house is right in the heart of the rain forest on the outskirts of Volcano. The surroundings look prehistoric! Sit in the outdoor hot tub at night, stare up at the pitch-black sky and marvel at just how far away from the rest of the world you really are! Nearby Volcano is a tiny town, so don't expect to do much there, but the spectacular Volcano National Park is literally right down the road from the house and there's tons to explore there. Overall, a great house and a great location from which to experience the Big Island. I definitely recommend it!

      The road into town!

      Lush and Beautiful!

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Wow! What a gorgeous house! The whole place was airy and open with every window showing off a view of lush greenery! The giant ferns are like something out of a science fiction movie, and some of my favorite times were sitting in the hot tub in the little grotto just steps from the back porch.

The house itself is so beautiful, there are these lovely pillars that are polished tree trunks that really set off all the incredible wood floors and wood furniture in the house. The back porch has this beautiful wood too, and we spent mornings sitting on the porch, having coffee and enjoying the bird song and the beautiful view.

Everything in the house is new and top quality, it was like staying at a fancy resort instead of a rental house!

It was so nice to be so close to the National Park, we were really able to spend some time there since we stayed so close. Also, the little town of Volcano has some really cute little shops and galleries and some great restaurants too.

I was almost unwilling to write a review because I want this house to be available for us when we come back again!

      A Sweet Escape in Volcano!

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The house was wonderfully clean and the owners were always willing and ready to help us with any questions we had. Volcano gets chilly at night, but the old style gas stove keeps it nice and warm (and if you're feeling adventurous the hot tub out back seats eight and is tucked away in the ferns!)

Plenty of bathrooms, comfortable beds and bedding, I really have no complaints! We had many great nights hanging out on the lanai, even barbecued out there a few times, and no matter what we were doing - the best part of it all - was the peace and quiet.
The place is totally surrounded in lush vegetation and with large windows throughout the house you really feel like one with the beautiful Volcano environment.

Lots of towels, great kitchen. Will stay here again.

A Little Piece of Heaven in the Middle of the Forest

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in October 2011

As I drove to Volcano and saw the Rain Forest I knew that I was in an amazing, special, and spiritual place and it was with great anticipation as I drove to Hale Ma`ukele. When I saw the sign and the flowers and landscaping I knew that I had chosen the right place. The house is truly beautiful on the outside and then when I opend the door it was even more beautiful and had that feeling of "home". From the pride in the woodcraft, to the full kitchen, to the fireplace to get cozy at night and even a trail that leads to the jucuzzi under the stars. Everything is "first class" and I know a resort in Waikoloa would be envious of this home. It is also Hawaii, a beautiful reflection of the island you are visiting and the forest and Volcano you are blessed enough to be relaxing in. I have since reserved the house for my business clients and musicians on many occations and they all rave and do not want to leave. Adam, the owner of the home, and his family brought a great energy and spirt to the home and it is full of "Aloha" and you can feel Pele` all around you. Thank you to the Jacobson family for making a little piece of Heaven in the middle of the rain forest and then sharing it with us!
      David
