Left on 03/24/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We enjoyed our stay at Hale Koa Nani. The house was well-equipped and felt like our home away from home, providing a cozy and relaxing place for us to stay, and a central location to enjoy all of the local attractions.

Left on 03/23/2013 for a stay in March 2013
From the time we arrived at Hale Koa Nani until we left two days later we had a wonderful visit. The home is beautifully furnished and includes extras to make everyone comfortable. We were even welcomed with macadamia nuts and a macadamia nut coffee cake in the kitchen...a nice surprise. The location is perfect for visiting Volcano National Park. They even contacted me afterward about an earring I had lost, and mailed it to me!

Menlo Park, CAA lovely spacious house in Volcano
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This house is a delightful place to stay right next to the National Park and the village of Volcano, and about 45 minutes from Hilo. The location does not offer any nightlife, but it is perfect for enjoying the natural beauty of the Big Island. The house features three large bedrooms, a terrific kitchen, and a wonderful sense of being a real home that someone cares for. It is by far the best-equipped rental house that I have experienced, with all the appliances, utensils, cookware, spices, games, books, bedding, etc. that one could possibly need. It is creatively decorated and very clean. It was rather cool when we visited in December, but the wood stove warmed the place up quickly and efficiently, and gave a very cozy feeling. The property backs onto forest, and every morning a troupe of pheasants came walking through. I really wish we could have stayed longer in order to spend a day simply sitting in the backyard relaxing and watching birds, but we were too busy hiking in the park and visiting Hilo. The owner, Amy, is very friendly and responsive. My experience renting this house was totally positive, and I would not hesitate to go back.

Very nice, spacious home near Volcano National Park. Well equipped with everything you might need to enjoy your stay, even cable TV. Only slight negative is that the sofa and loveseat in the living room are very low and for older folks it is somewhat difficult to get up and down!!

Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This comfortably appointed house has all you need for a great, relaxing stay. It is clean and convenient to the volcano and Volcano Village, but a little off the beaten path, so you can relax in the peace and quiet after your day of sight-seeing. The house comes with everything you might need, from flashlights to Dvds and books to an umbrella! The owner was fantastic. We would definitely stay there again.

Thank you amy for sharing this amazing house with us. We enjoyed our stay in your cottage with character! We loved the antiques throughout the house. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cooking utensils. Every item in this house had a place and was well labeled. We enjoyed the Dvds and the ping-pong table as well. We loved the fact that this cottage is in a nice quiet, peaceful setting. We could have stayed here at least a month. Amy is also very accomdating and the communication before and during our stay was wonderful. Thank you again for allowing us to make our home away from home in your cottage.

Chicago SuburbsThis is a Sweet House!
Left on 05/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed at Hale Koa Nani for several days in late March to visit the volcano and the park. We enjoyed the home immensely. This house is exceptionally sweet and in a great location! It’s on a nice quiet street at the end of a cul-de-sac near the park and just west of the town of Volcano. The home has nice size rooms perfectly set up for a family or couples to share. The kitchen has every appliance, cooking instrument, pan and/or dish you will need to cook a full meal. There’s a full entertainment system with a great library of DVD’s and cable as well as high speed internet. The garage is set up as the laundry room and while you’re waiting for your laundry you can get a few games of ping pong in on the table located there. Joe’s father is an artist and the home is appointed with his work. I have to say that all of it was great to look at.
Amy and Joe are great folks and very accommodating. As I indicated, our family enjoyed our stay in this home and we’ll definitely rent here again on our next visit the Big Island and you would do well to rent here too on your visit. -

36806Great deal -- A comfortable, well-appointed home, with thoughtfu
Left on 03/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed here for a week and from the beginning were impressed at the attention to detail of the owners in organizing the logistics of payment/contract and eventually getting into the house. Very convenient for the visitor, and much the best experience of the many vacation rentals we have done over the years. The house is well-maintained and has everything you need from the kitchen to the bathroom. In the evenings, there is a media center with many eclectically chosen Dvds, wifi, and you can always do your laundry or play ping-pong. The location is excellent if you want to spend your time in the Volcano/Hilo area which we mostly did. It's a two and a quarter hour drive to Kona if you want to go snorkeling there, but overall we felt that it was worth locating in Volcano. The village itself is quite nice and there are a couple of good restaurants in the area (Lava Rock Cafe and the Thai Thai restaurant, which is expensive if you chose the wrong dishes).

Springfield, VAGorgeous Retreat
Left on 01/09/2012 for a stay in July 2011
This lovely home became a cozy retreat as my daughter, friends and I enjoyed the delights of Volcano. The lovely setting on the outside gave way to a spacious, clean, welcoming, and comfortable interior. At home in the evenings, there is a great selection of books and movies available to entertain. In addition to the tours and exhibits at the Volcanoes National Park (be sure to check out the art museum!), we enjoyed good meals and shopping, especially at the swap meet on Saturday morning. You will love this property ... it is a lovely get-away.

Falls Church, VAA welcome for all seasons
Left on 01/04/2012 for a stay in July 2011
Nestled in a setting that is the essence of serenity, the house is designed for comfort and convenience. Its location just outside the entrance to the national park makes it easy to explore the area at leisure without facing a long drive home at the end of the day. The furnishings and rooms (including a full kitchen) are clean, attractive, and clearly well thought out by the owners.
We have stayed here several times and look forward to more visits in future. -

Scotts Valley, CAA Hawaiian Gem
Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2005
We found the house clean, inviting, nicely appointed and comfortable. After a few days of being in a high rise resort on the Kona side, it was refreshing to have a place to ourselves to unwind.
One of the great things about this house is that it is a little off the beaten path, depsite its proximity to the Volcanos National Park. When you are staying in the house you have your own little world, yet it is close enough that you can go to the park in the morning,
come back to the house and have lunch and relax a bit, and then go back to the park in the late afternoon.
That way you get to see the lava flowing at night which is spectacular, and then it's just a short drive back to the house to fix dinner.
The house is also close enough to Hilo that you can use it as a base for a day trip there.
Note: there is not a lot of shopping nearby, so bring what you need and you'll be fine.
Summary: We found the place delightful and reasonably priced. If we had it to do over again, we wouldn't change a thing.
