We are just five minutes from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Hike across the floor of Kilauea-Iki crater or to Halema'u ma'u, home of the fire goddess Pele, or take a night hike to see the active lava flows.
Your Volcano Village location puts you 40 minutes from Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, where you may see turtles nesting and swimming, one and a half hours from from the City of Refuge, and only 40 minutes from historic and beautiful downtown Hilo with restaurants, shops, museums and nearby snorkeling beaches.

I had booked this cottage last minute for my stay in Volcano to see the park and lava field. I live on Maui in a quiet neighborhood, but this was the most peaceful place I've ever stayed! even though neighbors were close you'd never know they were there. the yard was beautiful and very private. the cottage was in great shape and very cozy! the rooms were great and exactly what we needed. I loved this place and the nature in the backyard. I saw so many colorful birds and beautiful plants. Can't say enough about how great this stay was! I will definitely be booking again!!

Very comfortable and homely. We had all the facilities we need. The owners are very nice and obliging. Very conveniently located to the volcanoes and not too far a drive from the town of Hilo. We had a party of 4 adults and 1 infant and there is plenty of room for all. Great value for such an enjoyable stay.

If you plan to spend your days at VNP then this is perfect, just minutes away. House is very nice, surrounded by ohia forest filled with apapane. My only complaint was that the barbecue listed and shown in the pictures is no longer working. All the food we bought was to put on the grill but that was our only disappointment. Great house in a great location.

We loved the cabin and all the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Everything we could possibly need was there including coffee but we had one unnerving experience. At about 7:30 one evening all the neighborhood power went out and no one answered any of the phone contacts we had. None of the flashlights in the cabin worked, though fortunately we had our own. Can you fix?

Well, how about a neat little kitchen where you can whip up some banana pancakes and coffee for breakfast while listening to the birds? Especially since Hilo is close enough (a quick half hour drive) you could get the bananas and the coffee from the farmer's market. Add to that comfortable beds, bathroom with a washing machine and super close to the park. This cottage was the perfect place to spend our last days on the Big Island and a great incentive to come back as soon as we can.

all rental communication done online or by phone and very easy to set up. Keys were in lock box on cottage, so no chasing around trying to find separate rental company to pick up or drop off keys. Cottage was clean and comfortable with good phone and wifi reception. We were located very close to the Volcano National park and enjoyed our visits there.

The house smelled like mildew and the drainage rack in the sink was rusty. The promised juice and bagels were not in the freezer. The blower motor on the fireplace was frozen up and squealing. As far as location, it was fine. The beds were semi-comforable. I would not stay there again.

Oh no! We are so sorry you felt that way about one of our homes. It is not one of our top homes, so it seldom has guests there. And unfortunately we did have to replace the house cleaner for this home since his cleaning habits were not up to our standards.
We wish we had known about the fireplace and your cleaning concerns. We definitely would've had any of our on-call handyman come fix it right away and our house cleaner clean that home again for you! We have an office here in Volcano open 7 days a week to address any maintenance issues guests might have. Thank you for your concerns. We will address them as quickly as we can! We do want our guests to leave happy!!
We hope you stay with us again in the future at any of our other top homes, most of them getting 4 or 5 star reviews here on flipkey! We offer discounts to our repeat guests. Sorry for your inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. -

Cymbidium cottage was prefect for our family. It is quiet and well equipped. We cooked all our meals at the cottage. Our son loved running around the backyard and climbing on the lava tube. I also really liked that there was a gate you could close off to the road - with my son running around it made me feel safer. Fantastic time - we would definitely return!!!
