Volcano Dancing Ferns is a well appointed guest suite for people who are looking for peaceful accommodations and solitude. The room was supplied with all necessities plus a lot of extras such as Dvds, popcorn and bottled water. It was a great place to return to after a long day of hiking and exploring Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
Be prepared that this is not like many bed and breakfast establishments. Breakfast was DIY and we did not see the owner, Karen, until we were driving out for the last time. There was fresh fruit, yogurt and muffins on the first day but nothing was replenished so we had oatmeal for the second morning - a little disappointing since the previous B&B; served fresh fruit every morning we were in Kauai. The kitchen area was well stocked with flatware, stoneware dishes and water and wine glasses which was a nice touch.
We received excellent driving directions to Volcano Dancing Ferns and would recommend it to folks who are looking for a comfortable, low key place to stay. -

We very much enjoyed staying 3 nights at Volcano Dancing Ferns. The place is a wonderful quiet retreat amid lush forest, the king size bed and the shower are nothing short of luxurious.

We stayed at Dancing ferns for 5 nights. We were impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the accommodation. The breakfast was accompanied by lots of little extras. This was very practical, as we arrived at the end of the day, so no shopping necessary. We have a young son just under 2 years old and Karen left a little pair of slipper socks especially for him! This sums up the way we felt provided for in our stay.
Highly recommended - as is the Volcano National park! -

We stayed at Karen's place for one night and were very happy with our experience. I was impressed by Karen's detailed preparations - from the color-coordinated decor to the food items left for our breakfast. We had our own private entrance. The entire living area was very clean and quiet. We had all the appliances (microwave, fridge, toaster, electric grill, coffee machine) and food required for breakfast set out for us. Certainly a peaceful place to spend one night (or several). If I visit Volcano again, I will look for availability to stay with Karen.
The only thing that we found lacking was a bit of personal touch - that is, we only chatted with Karen for a few minutes the next morning. This is definitely not a big deal for me, and of course Karen was busy going to work, but I know some people look forward to interacting with people while they stay at a bed-breakfast place. Just something I wanted to point out, this is by no means a complaint.

Volcano Dancing Ferns was a pleasant surprise. The space is decorated beautifully with a very comfortable bed and the breakfast treats Karen left us were a wonderful surprise. If you are looking to relax in the evening there is a good selection of movies to watch. There is a fridge, microwave and toaster oven and dishes so one could do some basic meals if so inclined. We did get lost looking for it the first night (although it was dark when we arrived) however Karen had made sure we had both her home and cell number and so we had no problem reaching her and we quickly sorted out where we had made a wrong turn. Overall we thought Volcano Dancing Ferns was great value for the price and would recommend it to others.

We loved staying at the Volcano Dancing Ferns. It was clean, cozy and spacious. We love the beautiful surroundings and amenities provided. It is conveniently located close to the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. We will definitely stay here again!
