Athens, GreecePerfect location, obliging owner, and the sea at your feet
Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed there in august 2012, as returning happy clients (our first stay was in august 2011). A small family of 4, of which two very young children (today they are 7 and 5, in our first stay they were 5 and 3), we found the place totally safe and suitable for our very young kids.
Large paved veranda, all fenced in and gated securely for the young guests, is an absolute gift, given the type of the property.
The view is to simply die for, during any hour and with any weather, with the sea waves peacefully meeting (and I am being literal) the property's veranda wall. My husband, a dedicated angler, literally fished with his rods right off the veranda every night, to the sounds of lounge music from the cd player and sipping on margaritas under a wonderful starlit sky, while the kids were happily asleep (and easy to check on) inside.
Despite the fact that the property sits right next to a paved road, with a small taverna under a small apartment complex just opposite from that road, there is no disturbance or noise, as the place is totally off the beaten track (so a car is a must), the guests to the taverna are few (almost none on weekdays) and the taverna - no music - closes down by midnight the latest on weekends (on weekdays, even earlier than that), and even while its open there is virtually so little noise that is barely noticeable. The traffic on the road is almost non-existent as this road basically serves the few scattered houses (no commercial or tourist buildings in the vicinity other than the taverna) of the Nies area.
The sea (rocky) just below is good for a late afternoon swim (young kids swimming there would need parent supervision), but the Nies sandy beach is within walking distance (less than 3 mins by car) while there are superb beaches reachable by car in the broader area (Amaliapolis about 10 minutes drive, Agia Marina in Pteleos around 25 minutes etc).
The cottage itself is small, but offers all the basic features for a comfortable stay, including a master bedroom (with an airconditioner), a kids bedroom with 2 single beds (extra folding bed also available and this room also has an airconditioner), a comfortable sitting room with a flat screen TV (where you can hook any media player, laptop or playstation), a fireplace, a small bathroom with a shower (heated water freely available all day), a small kitchen, yet packed with everything from a fridge, a stove, an oven, a coffee maker, a toaster, dishes, cutlery and everything you will need for your stay, a small dining table inside for the colder days (which we never used, as we took all our breakfasts, lunches and dinners in the lovely shaded veranda outside (where a huge table enough to sit a party of at least 8 is available!). If you own a boat, a safe mooring buoy is just below the property. If you expect to facebook or tweet from there all day though, forget it, as there is only (scattered) connectivity via 3G only (and this is not necessarily bad, on the contrary, it gave us an excellent break from checking our emails all the time; if you insist to be connected during your vacation though, the signal is much better over the hill in the village of Sourpi).
The property to its left and right has virtually no "next-door" neighbours, as the 2 small cottages to the right and left are uninhabited, while the taverna is at the back of the house over the other side of the road and not directly viewed from (or into) the property. So privacy is guaranteed.
A supermarket with all products for your daily needs is at the village of Sourpi, a short 15 minute drive from the cottage, where you will also find a number of great country style tavernas offering mainly meat dishes from local producers, several grocers with local produce and a couple of bakeries. Amaliapolis, also in the close vicinity, apart from its nice (but small) sandy beach, offers various cafeterias, a large beach bar and several fish tavernas. For more, the larger town of almyros, is easily within reach with a 25 min drive with larger supermarkets and an organised shopping area. And if you get bored from the peace and quiet (we certainly did not), the bustling city of Volos is less than a 40 min drive from the house (and from then on, you can arrange wonderful day trips to Pelion).
Sandra, the owner, together with her husband Dimitris, who live in their own house about 50 meters from the property, are simply beautiful people, tending to all your needs, making sure that nothing is missing or not working, that everything is spotlessly clean, that all the sheets towels and linen are there, freshly laundered and ironed, without being intrusive or imposing. Sandra, a born american turned "native Greek", will gladly share with you her books, let you pat her lovely dogs (they do not live on the property), and give out some of their home made tsipouro; she will captivate you with her openness of mind, her warm heart, her sincere laughter and her proper (with no-strings-or-agenda-attached) hospitality.
So all in all, this is definitely not a "villa" (with the standardized luxurious riff-raff and chlorinated pool), but a nice, warm, welcoming and very well maintained country cottage, reminding you how the simple things in life are the best building blocks of wonderful memories. My kids believe this is actually their "own" second house for the summer. Right on, because that's how we feel also, as Sandra did her best to make us feel at home.
So, in short, nice, simple, peaceful bliss! A little peace of heaven in its own right.
Can't wait to be back this summer again. -

Verona and ChicagoWonderful and relaxing place
Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I visited Little Bit of Heaven in May with my daughter and her two 6-year old twin girls. We were received most warmly by Sandra and Demetri. The Cottage is lovely, very comfortable and well furnished and the setting is magnificent. Not only the view of the sea but the gorgeous garden that Sandra cares for with tender, loving care. The setting is safe and very child friendly. Sandra is most helpful; she is always available to give you tips on places to visit, restaurants to go to, sightseeing and sports in the area. I would recommend "Little Bit of Heaven" for anyone who wants to have a restful vacation. I will go back at the first opportunity I have.

AlmyrosAn absolutely dreamy holiday!
Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in July 2011
This turned out to be just what we were looking for and more; Peaceful and relaxing. We spent most of our time on the great big stone terrace right out over the water. It was nice to have our own staircase right down to the water below.
The kitchen, though small, was fully equipped, but we did most of our cooking on the grill outside. The beds and linens were good quality. We were provided with pretty much everything we needed and the owners were friendly and helpful.
We were looking for an escape holiday and that's what we got. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but no noisy discos or clubs. I would definitely recommend this cottage to like minded couples or families! -

The name of this place is right on! You feel like heaven and the view from the lovely, huge veranda over the sea is absolutely scintillating. I felt like I was on an ocean liner with first row seats! Everyone is friendly and accommodating and the area really is charming. I highly recommend staying here. It is everything the description says.
