Two Bedroom First Floor Apartment Volterra

Le Balze is a working farm situated in a fantastic position in the countryside close to Volterra with beautiful views all around. Balze G is a spacious apartment comfortably furnished in simple Tuscan country style. There is plenty of space to relax in the grounds around the house and by the lovely panoramic swimming pool. Real Tuscan country life can be enjoyed and the friendly owners ensure a welcoming family atmosphere, as well as gladly preparing meals on request using their own genuine local produce.

Le Balze is just 10 minutes drive from the ancient town of Volterra and surrounded... by strikingly beautiful countryside with rolling clay hills, swaying wheat fields, and dotted with silvery olive groves. The farm in fact specialises in wheat, and oil production, and you are welcome to watch farming activities, and wander the 200 hectare estate on foot.

The lovely swimming pool (12m x 6m) set into the side of a hill, enjoys the most fantastic panorama and surrounding the farmhouse there are shady spots with tables and chairs perfectly placed for dining al fresco. The farm owners are very friendly and welcoming, they will gladly prepare delicious meals on request using fresh and genuine ingredients of their own production, served in the charming dining room with the rustic convivial atmosphere of times gone by.

There are two characteristic farmhouses on Le Balze estate each housing three apartments. At ground level of one of the houses the farms dining room is situated, and also on the estate is the owners house, and a further building where there are two more apartments. The gardens are filled with flowers and mature trees and there is lots of space for relaxing outside on the courtyard terrace area or by the gorgeous swimming pool surrounded by olive trees.

Balze G, on the first floor is reached by external steps finishing in a little covered loggia balcony leading to the apartments entrance. Furnished simply and comfortably, the apartment retains terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. The living area has a dining table and chairs and settee (which can convert to a bed on request), an archway leading to a fully equipped kitchen area and stairs to a mansard gallery floor with settee (which converts to a bed on request). There are two pretty bedrooms and a shower room which also has a washing machine. The apartment has an area with table and chairs in the pretty grounds for dining al fresco and there is a barbecue for guests use. Wi Fi internet connection is available, as is a tennis table and childrens football pitch.Parking is in the grounds close by.

Volterra, just 10km away is a lovely town to explore, it boasts an interesting Etruscan museum, amphitheatre, and many craft shops with local alabaster products for which the town is famous. There is an excellent selection of shops and restaurants and in the summer months the town hosts many wonderful festivals, concerts and fairs. From this lovely location in the heart of the countryside many of Tuscany?s other sights are easily reached. San Gimignano is just half an hour away, and Florence and Siena are lovely days out. The Tuscan coast is only about 45 minutes drive away, if a day by the sea entices you.

  Beautiful scenery, spacious apartment and unbelievably helpful and friendly owners. The family diners on saturdays are delicious - make sure you join at least one! Only bummer was the terrible "road" leading to the farm - quite the challenge for your car!

  Wonderful stay in Tuscany

  I would love to write a personal note to angela & Pietro but my Italian would be insufficient. Their place is beautiful; the apartment was perfect. We so enjoyed meeting them and visiting with angela about family, gardening, work, and my family from amalfi & Napoli. Although my Italian was limited, we managed to have a wonderful visit. Pietro made me happy, watching him bring the morning milking in each day. I commented one morning how I loved the ricotta that would come from that milk, he later called me over to offer us a bowl of fresh ricotta; I was beside myself with happiness! Few things have been more delicious! One evening we had an amazing dinner with them and some of the other guests. The food was a sensory delight and the company could not have been better. Between Italian, German, and English we managed to eat, visit, and enjoy a delightful evening. I have travelled to Italy four times, from the Dolomites in the north to southern Campania and many places in between. Pietro and angela's home is the best place I have stayed. My 29 year old daughter and I had planned this mother/daughter trip for years and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for this leg of our journey. Thank you to the whole family for making our stay so wonderful and thank you to La Bella Toscana for taking the time to help us decide which lodging was best for us. We will take the memories of our stay here with us for years to come.
