Description from the owner

Our Mahaka Valley vacation rental condo in the Mahaka Valley Towers is ideally located for those seeking a quiet yet stimulating living experience in the Westside of the island's sunny southern shoreline. Our rental accommodation is located away from the Honolulu and Waikiki scene and found in one of the island’s beautiful valleys, along the Waianae ridge. Drive along the dry west side, with the mountainous interior on one side and the blue ocean on the other. The highly varied west side of this rural and lightly developed part of the island – a side of the island known for where IZ lived and the “Hawaiian" in the people of Westside...Read more

      Perfect family getaway

Left on 08/19/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We spent 23 nights at the apartment and we liked it a lot. From the very beginning - Nani is a great host and a very nice person - we felt very relaxed and comfortable. The directions to the property are very detailed, the security at the gates were informed in advance, the condo is very clean and cosy, and the view from the huge glass wall is awesome - you can see both the ocean and the mountains. The apartment is fully equipped, the only thing we had to buy was a beach umbrella and we left it there for future guests. Wi-Fi in the apartment is fast and reliable.
There is an additional mattress and our 12-year old daughter slept very well on the sofa.
The condominium is maintained very well, it is green and clean, there is a pool and a BBQ area downstairs. There is little traffic around the place and many locals use the area for walking/jogging. You have to walk to the beach but we rented a car and that was not a problem. The beach itself (Makaha beach) is great for swimming in summer and for surfing in winter. It is never crowded, it almost never rains, there are lifeguards and facilities and you can see your car from the sand which is important in Hawaii due to numerous car break-ins. If you want a more secluded beach you can go to Makua or Yokohama beaches to the north and if you prefer resort-style beaches there are Ko Olina lagoons to the South. Hiking is possible at nearby Kaena Point and there are Golf clubs right in Makaha valley.
There are buses going to Honolulu but I recommend getting a rental car if you are staying long. Traffic in and around Makaha is easy and comfortable.
Overall the condo and the beaches nearby are perfect for people who prefers staying away from the crowds and big cities. Many thanks to Nani and Bob, they are very nice people and they did everything for us to feel like at home.

      Great getaway!

Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012

I very much enjoyed my stay here. I was on business on west side of the island so it was a perfect location for me. The towers is great location that is guarded by security so I never felt like my car was in danger. It is a drive to Honolulu from this location. Took me about 40-50min depending on traffic. If your looking for a quiet getaway with the ocean being very close this is it.

Our Heavenly Hawaiian Honeymoon at Nani and Bob's Hideaway!

Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We were delighted by our stay in this lovely condo. The thoughtfulness of our hosts providing every necessity was most welcoming. We soon felt right at home with the Island style furnishings and complimentary art work and decor. The spectacular view was awesome at all times and we enjoyed seeing the beach and surf as well as the mountains. A short drive made it easy for modest shopping in Makaha while driving further along the coast leads to access to very up-to-date shopping malls. This best done after the morning or afternoon traffic rushes.
We are now looking forward to our next visit to Nalani's Makaha Valley Hideaway. Aloha!

      Very Relaxing

Left on 04/22/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I was a little nervous when I booked this place since you don't always know what you will get. But I immediately felt comfortable about my decision after talking with Nani. She made the whole process very easy. We are familiar with the Makaha area but not with the towers. We were very satified with the unit, it has a beautiful view and it had everything you need and was very comfortable. It made for a wonderfull and relaxing vacation.

      Perfect for a small family!

Left on 02/20/2012 for a stay in May 2011

My husband, 2 year old child and I stayed here and had an excellent trip. The unit was clean, well maintained and a very good size for the 3 of us. There is even a small dressing room area that we were able to use as a "room" for our daughter so naps and bedtime were easy. A portable crib was provided by the owner. We went to the beach and pool each day and rest in the a/C when it got warm. Located on the West side of Oahu it was still quite easy to get all over the island. Our daughter loved the peacocks that are around the property.

We would absolutely stay here again and look forward to our next opportunity to visit!

On the beautiful western side of Oahu

Left on 02/09/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Away from the crowds at Waikiki, the 11th floor studio apartment we stayed at in the Makaha Valley is on the corner of the building, giving it fantastic views of the valley to the east and south, and of the Pacific Ocean to the west. Out the front door are hills that have waterfalls after it rains, and the grounds have peacocks amongst the colorful tropical fauna. Nearby beaches are only crowded if a surfing event takes place in historic Makaha Beach, but there were times when we went to a beach to swim or snorkel when we were the only ones there. The location is near Kaena Point to the north, which is a great hike where we saw monk seals, whales, dolphins and albatross nesting. The studio itself is immaculate, perfect for my wife and I, with a large kitchen, lanai with the views described above, murphy bed for extra space, and a great sitting area. We kept the curtains open the entire time, watching the stars and night and the sunrise in the morning. We've stayed at Nani's condos in Waikiki as well, and all were immaculate. But we prefer Makaha for the scenery and beaches.

Near the condo, this is one of the scenes from the movie Hawaii, based on Michener's novel Sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous on this side of the island

We had an amazing time at this Hawaiian retreat. The area is perfect, beautiful beaches, sunsets, wildlife, hiking. Away from the craziness of Waikiki so that you feel like you are on an outer island but close enough that you can visit. The condo is very tastefully decorated in a Hawaiian feel. The views of the ocean and the surrounding beautiful mountains are fantastic!!! We have stayed here several times in different seasons and all are great - including waterfalls on the mountains and whales on the ocean. There is a nice pool and a great BBq area. I highly recommend this condo.

Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in August 2011

Better than we could have hoped for. By renting a condo in general, you never know what you're going to get until you're actually there; but this place had zero issues, it was perfect, and it was even nicer in person than it appeared in the photos! The building is in a gated compound with 24/7 security guard. The location is surrounded simply by mountains, the beach, forest, and a very small housing community. It is nice to be away from the hubbub and urbanization of other parts of the island. The condo is very clean, fairly large, the kitchen is just fine, and the bedroom and bathroom are really nice too. The owner is a very very kind and accommodating person. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and would recommend it to anyone I know.

      A breath of heaven!

Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in July 2011

We were blessed to spend out honeymoon with Bob and Nani! We were welcomed with a warm basket of goodies, a bottle of wine and all the comforts of home. We wanted for nothing and after quickly falling in love with the island we were treated to Bob's culinary expertise and tours of the most romantic spots on the island! From a sunrise with the spinner dolphins to sunsets with the peacocks and warm island breezes it wasn't more than a week befor we decided to extend our stay another five days... Not nearly long enough, we have been counting the days till we return. We will always have a warm place in our hearts and memories for both Bob and Nani and their home of Oahu... We will see you both again soon!
