What Past Guests Are Saying
Perfect - as expected
This condo is awesome. Top floor, high roof, very sunny and clear. Nice view, very quite. You'll find everything you need in it, even beach stuff as snorkelling, towels, balls, lifesuit,...
Everything is clean and confortable, the bathroom is all new.
The property is nice and gardens are beautiful. Pools are ok (1 baby pools (2feet deep), 1 pool and 1 spa). It is perfet after a day at the beach.
This side of the island is great, a lot of great beaches, not crowded. All of them got showers and bathroom.
Waianae is a bit far from Hanauma bay, the north shore or even from Honolulu. Almost 45min-1h drive (or more if trafic). But you'll find everything you need on the west side...
Our family (3 kids) loved the week we spent there.
Scott my trip was fantastic and your place was a wonderful stay very peaceful and serene. I and the family will stay there again in the near future (I anticipate) thanks for a great deal and being part of the makings of my family and I having good memorable times.
Great Holiday accommodation
It was wonderfully peaceful on the compound and in the unit (having had a sleepless night in Waikiki due to constant noise for the first night, this was highly appreciated). There was a lovely view through the large sliding doors looking out over the trees (we could see the sea in the distance) and there was a large window in the end wall under the vaulted ceiling where you could see the mountains.
Scott had provided all sorts of things for his guests to use e.g. mats for the beach, cool boxes, buckets, spades, snorkels and masks for children (the large cupboard in the lounge was a treasure trove to look through) there were loads of books to read and pamphlets of things to do and see in Hawaii (when we had booked the unit he also sent through a list of places to go and eat in or to buy groceries and things to do on the island, which was very useful and unexpected. There was only one other unit on the top floor, I think that is a family home, we saw our neighbours a couple of times as we were returning to the unit, they were very friendly. The condo and about 50 minutes from Honolulu.
It is a short drive to Makaha beach from the unit and Pokai Bay Beach Park where we went swimming, both beaches were beautiful and the water at Pokai was very calm.
Although we were only on Oahu for a short time we did notice while we were travelling around the island that it was sunny and dry whenever we were on the west side of the island (from Makaha down towards Ko Olina) but as we got near Honolulu it seemed to drizzle with rain for a short while and although the east side of the island was very green it wasn't as sunny during the time we were there, I assume that is why the vegetation is so lush on the east side of the island.
The condo wouldn't be suitable for anyone with a disability, there are 2 flights of stairs to climb but the view from the condo is worth the climb.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makaha Valley Plantation.
A slice of real Hawaii
I spent several months looking for accommodation in Hawaii for a family of 3 that wouldn't break the bank. I finally found this lovely apartment in Makaha, Waianae. It had pretty much everything we needed according to the website so without hesitation I booked. Living in NZ I had no idea about the areas on Oahu, how far they were away from the main attractions, crime etc.
I had read the reviews for the condo and they seemed pretty good however when I started to look into the area of Waianae I started to have doubts about whether I had done the right thing, it was too late by this time as we had paid the deposit. We decided that we would just give it a go.
Well we arrived at the condo and it was lovely! The surrounding mountains are breathtaking especially when the sun is setting and casts a pink glow over them. Yes the beach is a little drive and so is Waikiki but by the end of our 10 day stay we were so glad to be able to get away from the city and just relax with relative quiet. Yes there is homeless but not as obvious as Waikiki, you only really see them now and again and not once were we approached, money asked for or spoken to by them.
The condo was well equipped and clean, however the oven could do with a good scrub (my only bad comment) we didn't use it for that reason. Scott was easy to deal with and provided a great list of local ammenities and attractions.
Makaha beach is lovely much better than Waikiki! We ate our dinner on the beach several nights watching the stingray feeding off the rocks was amazing experience.
I would highly recommend the area and the condo for anyone that is coming to Oahu. It is off the beaten tracks but so worth it! Please do not be put off by what you read about Waianae, you would be missing out on a wonderful part of the island.
The condo was clean and beautiful. Lots of natural light and vaulted ceilings. There were 2 large bedrooms and a large living area/kitchen open floor layout. We really enjoyed staying here because it was far enough outside of Honolulu that we felt like we could really relax but close enough that we could still go do touristy things. We would highly recommend staying here and the pool was fun for our daughter. Also, they have a closet full of snorkel gear, boogie boards, sandcastle stuff and beach chairs. There is a beach close by where you can see lots of sea turtles and everyone we met that lived in the complex was sweet and helpful. We will most likely return here someday for another relaxing getaway.
amazing place to stay
I absolutely loved this place. Right down the street from a great beach that never got crowded compared to others on the island. The apartment was clean well kept. The neighbors were very nice and I loved how there is a
guard on staff 24 hours. I would totally stay here again. Thanks.
This is a fantastic condo. Its view if both the moutains and icean is beautiful. It will be a place i look forward to coming to again and again.
My wife and I stayed at Scott's place for a week. It was so wonderfully quiet. We loved every moment, of what little time we spent, in the condo. The weather is usually nicer on this side of the island, and much greater choices of local foods. Our favorite being L&L.; Enjoy all the wonderful things this place provides.
Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts,
very nice quiet place
Very nice , quiet place.Walking distance to wonderful , almost empty beaches. You can walk along the ocean and watch whales. The condo has equipment for everything - from cooking to swimming, including electric coffee grinder. The grounds around the building are full of peacocks. It is about 10 min drive to Ko Olina
with very nice man made lagoons on the resort ( Marriott and etc..) grounds ( free access and parking for everybody)
Wonderful with beautiful views.
This condo was a great place to stay with my family. We have 3 children and there was plenty of room for everyone. It was great to be able to cook meals. The kids also really enjoyed the views of the mountains and the ocean for the balcony. They really enjoyed looking at all the peacocks. We really enjoyed our time at the condo and would highly recommend this place for other families. Thank you!
