We stayed in an one of Gerald's studios 2308 and it was just like pictures. It was in a great location, it was clean and had nice views and had everything you could want towels beach chairs snorkeling gear. Downside there was no where to put clothes, bags etc or very little space so had to make room as don't like it all out during holidays and no ceiling fan and really needed due to location of air conditioner it did not circulate well.
Also downside we used hotel car parking and got towed second day as they are very strict on having ticket on dash of car and there is no leniency and it's 20 bucks a day plus $200 bucks to reclaim car.The other down side is reception were no help what so ever did not want anything to do with us as we rented privately, so here we are wondering what to do re our car as the numbers they gave us were not all correct and at first not answering... However Gerald was helpful and accommodating although a little unsure re car situational first. We understand it was our fault but had the front desk given us the parking rules and guidelines when we checked in this would of been avoided. So if renting privately which I still do think is way better then a hotel just ask as many questions before arriving to avoid these situations. All great in the studio but re bottles you can not put in trash Shute just leave out front of trash shute. Best was the bed sooo comfortable and big a big plus when traveling. ThanksResponse from gerard banel - 10/14/2012
Owner
The parking is privately owned and managed. Guests need to purchase a ticket from a machine, and place it on the dash board. This is clearly explained in three places: on the machine, above the machine, and in red ink on the ticket. If you forget that, your car might be towed.
I offered our guest to drive them to the towing parking, and I paid half of their fine. I just wanted our guest to forget this, and have pleasant vacations.
This is a large 365 sq. ft. studio, with a king bed, a sofa, a 47" flat TV, and a table with 4 chairs. As our guest mentioned, half the space in the closet is occupied by bodyboards, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach umbrella, etc. which leaves space for only two luggages. The TV is on a dresser that has drawers for clothes. You can see a floor map here:

Only a short walk to Waikiki beach. Comfortable room although difficult to imagine that it could accommodate 4 people. Had difficulty working the shower but once mastered was good. Didn't manage to get the hotplate to work so had to boil a cup of water in the microwave for a cup of tea. The airconditioner was v.noisy and location right next to the bed made for a v.cold night when on! Lovely view from the small balcony and nice basket of goodies on arrival. Clean and homely with beach towels and plenty of beach toys for children.
Response from gerard banel - 10/25/2012
Owner
The hotplate is a modern induction burner, so it heats only when there is a pot or a pan on it. This is a nice feature, but some guests think it's not working, so I will replace it by a halogen cooktop.

We went to Hawaii for our 6th wedding anniversary and stayed here. What a perfect place to be based, a great view of the beach, city and mountains, close to the beach, shops and all attractions and the bus stops just outside, we couldn't ask for more. The facilities within the room were fantastic, and the bed is one of the most comfortable we have slept on when on holiday. Plenty of beach towels and beach accessories allowed us to make the most of our stay and to enjoy the sun, sand and water. We could find no fault whatsoever with the room. We did not use the pool or spa, but those both looked to be good to use if wanted. We preferred the beach. The welcome basket of little local goodies was a lovely touch, especially after 9 hour flight. We would highly recommend this for couples staying in Honolulu and will definitely be back

We loved our stay here. Perfect location, close to everything. The unit is very well equipped, the owners have thought of nearly everything (except I couldn't find an iron or ironing board, but that was only a minor thing - but could be good to supply one in future). We were able to self cater quite adequately when we wanted to.
The welcome treats were thoughtful and gratefully received.
The bed is absolute luxury!! We have never experienced a better bed - its on a par with sleeping on air!
As others have said, Waikiki is noisy and it's impossible to escape that, especially if you like to sleep with fresh air / windows open, as we did. However this did not detract from our stay in this lovely apartment.
The views are fabulous and all in all it was an extremely comfortable stay for 2 people for 7 nights, and excellent value for money - exactly what we were after. Would stay again without hesitation! -

This is a great unit in a fantastic location. Two minutes to the beach one way and bus stop the other. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The owner has equipped these units with everything you could want for a beach holiday all included in the price. A welcome pack of coffee, chocolates, crisps, drinks etc was a nice touch and much appreciated. Views from the lanai are great. This is a fantastic value for money unit that I would certainly stay at again and easily recommend to others.
Only two downsides. The unit is in the Pacific Monarch Hotel and is not listed in the hotels register so you need to know the unit number to be, able to check in. The unit number is not included in the online check in documents. Make sure you get the unit number from the owner before you travel then you won't have any trouble.
Secondly traffic noise is bad in Waikiki even on the 23rd floor especially if you sleep with the window open (as we did) but this is a common problem throughout the area not just this unit.
Stay and enjoy, we did. -

My Husband and I just got back from a wonderful 7 day vacation in Hawaii. This Studio is located in the heart of Waikiki Beach. It's literally a 2min walk to Main beach. It's walking distance to restaurants, convenience stores, shops and malls. The Studio is well appointed, everything you need is provided for you like beach chairs, coolers, snorkel gear beach towels, boogie boards, sand toys. The small kitchenette is well equipped, and the fridge even has ice mats to use in your cooler. The place also has a great large flat screen TV, Dvd's, books and games. The King size bed is very comfortable and the pillows are great too. We slept very well. The views are amazing, to the left was ocean and to the left was city views...beautiful. The parking is $20 a day which was a little disappointing because we were expecting to pay $15, but the owner has no control over that, apparently the price went up a couple of times recently. We recommend this Studio and hope to come back soon.

My fiance and I had the pleasure of renting from Gerard from april 15 - 29, 2011. We stayed our first week in the Uli Hale studio and the second week in the Polu Hale studio.
Gerard was so easy to deal with and we feel he went above and beyond to provide the best service possible.
When we arrived, he met us at the building to show us in and was even able to have the studio ready early for us so we didn't have to wait around before checking in, the move to the second studio mid-vacation was seamless.
The studios are exactly as shown in the pictures, no surprises! Very clean and very nice decor. You are about a three minute walk from your room to one of the best places on the beach - the Duke statue!
My fiance forgot his brand new shorts in the room, Gerard found them, emailed us and even shipped them to us (in Eastern Canada)
If we have the chance to return to Hawaii, we would contact Gerard and rent from him again in a second!
Thanks so much for helping make our vacation that much more enjoyable! -

We stayed in this fantastic studio over the New Year period & were very impressed with the price & location. The NewYears Eve fireworks on the water out from Waikiki Beach were spectacular.
This studio is delightful with views of the beach & about 2mins walk to Waikiki Beach. It's very well equipped with everything for the holiday maker from swimming gear to Dvds & free Wifi. Plenty of reasonable eating places close by and the Food Pantry Store on Kuhio if you want to shop for yourself. Local buses or trolleys are great transport for getting around the island. Hope to stay again in the future.

We were scheduling a last minute trip for my wife and I, looking for something romantic in Waikiki when we found the Blue Rentals studio units. Our stay was longer than what was available but Gerard worked with us so we split our stay between the Polu Hale and Uli Hale units. Gerard was wonderful to work with and the studios are marvelous. The location is great, just a short walk from Kuhio Beach. What is most impressive are the accommodations in the units. Each unit had a big screen HD TV with DVD player and not only that, a small library of Dvds and Wii games, yes it’s equipped with a Wii! Beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkels, just about everything you possibly need Gerard has provided for you.
My wife preferred the Polu Hale (15th flr.) because the furnishings were best but I preferred the Uli Hale with the great view from 21th floor. The 3rd unit, Uli Huia may be the best with a view of Diamond Head and quieter on the opposite side of the building. If you are looking for a big “resort hotel” this isn’t for you. The Pacific Monarch Hotel that these condo units are in is an older, basic hotel in the heart of Waikiki, nothing fancy but functional. Don’t judge any reviews of the Pacific Monarch with that of Blue Rentals. God willing, we will come visit here again. Thank you so much, Gerard. -

St. Louis, MOFabulous unit with spectacular view!

We stayed 4 nights with kids in this just-remodeled unit. The owners did a fantastic job of remodeling, filling the unit with amenities and unique Hawaiian extras.
The king-size bed is a big plus; even luxury hotels on Waikiki only have double beds in 2-bed rooms. Our kids slept on the pull-out sofa, which made things a bit cramped - after all, this is only an efficiency - but this was a minor, compared to the great view and price.
We were two short blocks (3-minute walk) to the beach, and within easy walking distance of many Waikiki destinations. We loved the free high-speed internet, with a wireless router right in the room.
The owners put much thought into decorating, with many local touches. A huge flat-screen TV, DVD player and Nintendo Wii, with a library of video games and movies (incl. Blue Hawaii, Hawaii Five-O's 1st season), and board games incl. Monopoly’s Waikiki Surf Edition. An excellent selection of local books: well-chosen guide books, Hawaiian fiction anthologies, kids' guides to learning Hawaiian, etc. Even dinnerware and glassware featured surfer and hula themes. In the closet were beach chairs, an umbrella, top-grade snorkel gear, boogie boards, sand toys, collapsible cooler, and more. The owners even left a basket with a dozen or more Hawaiian treats.
Garage parking ($12/day with in-out privileges) was very convenient. The building's small rooftop pool with spectacular 360-degree views of Waikiki, Diamond Head, Honolulu, & mountains was never crowded. The top floor is a large, open common area with large windows, lounge chairs, card & game tables and even a library of books. The small efficiency kitchen is not big enough for full-blown meals (no stove, just a portable cooktop), but served us well for our needs. Like everything else in the condo, the small appliances were brand new and top of the line.
The owners were a pleasure to deal with –welcoming and helpful to a fault. A bargain anywhere else, on Waikiki, this unit is a steal.
