Description from the owner
Our Beautiful Two Bedroom condo, HALE O MELE LA'I, our "House of Happy Songs" in Waikoloa Villas on the Big Island has been beautifully furnished as a home, not just a vacation rental. Our Non-Smoking, spacious 1260 sq ft unit, plus a very roomy lanai allows for very comfortable living. Because we are on the 2nd floor of a 2-story complex there is no one above you and you have a great view across the golf course to the Pacific ocean. We chose Waikoloa Village as our choice location over Kona because of the clearer air and the trade winds, which help to moderate the temperatures.

Kamloops, CanadaWonderful Stay
Left on 12/22/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Hale O Mele La'i is located in Waikoloa Village, about a 10-15 min drive inland from the beaches and all of the busy resort areas. The village has a great supermarket, a gas station and a few restaraunts (Dave's Coffee Shack aka Kau Kau Depot has great food, great prices, and great people; Banjy's at the golf course has really good pizza). All of the people we met here were very friendly, including the residents at the condo complex.
We really enjoyed our stay at the condo. It was well equipped in every way, which makes for a very comfortable stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. You will find the kitchen stocked with all the supplies you could ever need (incl. storage containers & re-sealable bags - so handy for bringing snacks on your adventures!). And even better, there were tons of beach supplies - chairs, coolers, boogie boards, etc. etc.!! Even if you are on a business trip, Sylvia and Denis have that covered too - free high speed wireless internet, free local calls, and a desk stocked with basic office supplies. If you are staying in on a rainy day - there are tons of dvd's, books, and games!
They have thought of everything - we really appreciated the binder filled with information about the condo, local beaches, and other sights on the island. And let's not forget the beautiful Hawaiian artwork displayed throughout the condo... that you can enjoy while listening to music from their extensive collection provided for your listening pleasure!!
Sylvia and Denis were a pleasure to deal with. They were always available through email and were always extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit to the Big Island! -

This was our 2nd visit to this Heavenly Hawaiian condo owned by the McMahan's. We enjoyed every minute we spent here. Truly clean and luxurious, terrific view of the pool and golf course. Our son 15 enjoyed exploring the surrounding area, other pool and walking to the Grocery Store. Many books and travel guides to aid you if you were looking for something new to do. Especially enjoyed the music and movies. Wide variety of both and enjoyed preparing meals in the well stocked kitchen with nice appliances. Seems like they have thought of every little detail you may think of. Lots of towels, soaps, lotions. Great place and hope to visit again soon.

Brocton, NYA Hawiian Paradise
Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This was our first trip to Hawaii, and my sister-in-law and I decided to try a condo vs. a hotel. I research different places on the island and finally decided on Waikoloa Village. Viewing the property on line was a true picture of what to expect. The minute we arrived and walked in, we were transported into a Hawiian paradise. All our expectations were far exceeded. The peacefulness of the surroundings, the beautiful interior design, and the impeccable landscaping, why would you want to stay in a hotel. A plus for anyone who golfs, the course could be seen from the lanai. The pool is directly across the lanai, but not visable because of the landscaping. For those who like to cook out, the pool house has a total kitchen set up with the best grills I have ever used. For those that don't want to travel into town, which is about 20 miles away, there is a small shopping area just before you get to the main road of the complex. Plus the grocery store was much better then the one in Kona. The beaches are about 6 miles away on Rt. 19. If you should chose this condo, you will not be disappointed. The owners are within a phone call away, or email them, and they will immediatly deal with your concerns. They were just the nicest people as were the residents of the complex.

Left on 05/06/2011 for a stay in February 2008
The condo was well furnished with all necessities. We liked the home for its comfort and good location near the sunny Kona Coast, nice beaches, and a golf course.
The owners were friendly and helpful. But you need a car to get around. -

This is an overall wonderful Condo, very comfortable, great location, everything you need for Hawaii fun! Sylvia and Dennis are very nice people to work with and take much pride in their vacation home. We have been staying there for the past 4yrs. for a month at a time, so we must really like it! We will not be able to stay there next year since our dates could not be worked out, but maybe the following year will be back.

Homer Glen, ILOptimal combination of amenities and quietude
Left on 04/20/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Hale O Mele La'i is the perfect location! We prefer the Big Island to Oahu, Maui, or Kauai for its optimal combination of amenities and quietude; and Waikoloa Village is the optimal spot. Even when the tradewinds fail, there's never any vog. It's peaceful at night for good sleeping. The facilities are never overcrowded. My wife walks to the local supermarket every morning and sometimes to the post office. It's only a 15 minute drive to the beachfront hotels and upscale shops on the Kohala coast, 30 minutes to Kawaihai for whale watching or to Waimea for shopping/dining, approximately 40 minutes to the airport or Costco or Hawi, an hour to Kona, and 90 minutes to Hilo. However, you never need to leave the condo, as it has all you need for self-sustained relaxation.

Snohomish, Washington USABeautiful, Well Stocked, Waikoloa Highlands Villa Condo
Left on 04/13/2011 for a stay in December 2006
We booked this Condo and it was just a wonderful, conveniently located place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the Big Island. It has a elegant, yet cozy atmosphere.Beautiful living room, sunny lanai, comfortable and tropical bedrooms, clean and spacious bathrooms, Modern, well stocked Kitchen!
This Condo is close to several World Class Beaches and Resorts. Spencer for smaller kids and the not so experienced ocean swimmer. Hapuna Beach for Boogie Boarders and Body Surfing. Beach 69 for a more remote, but very fun snorkel and swimming beach.
The Golf Course that bordered the condo was lots of fun. Nicely kept. Some local wildlife roam the course, goats and turkeys! It is also not far to other courses. Many nearby Resorts along the Kohala Coast. Bring your clubs!
Beautiful swimming pools and BBq areas. We used both and loved that both were very close to our condo. Our son likes to explore on his own and we felt he was very safe to wander the area on his own. He especially enjoyed that he saw the elusive NeNe, a Hawaiian goose!
There is a nice Shopping Village within walking distance and a Gas Station, Post office and a few restaurants. We love to take a trip to Costco and also into Kona and Hilo. We enjoy exploring the area and there are many opportunities to walk, hike or run!
We appreciated that Denis and Sylvia checked in on us during our stay to make sure all was in order at the Condo. We will be returning to this "Home away from Home" in December 2011 for 2 weeks. We can't wait to begin another adventure on Hawaii's Big Island. Knowing that we have a Terrific Place to stay is really the beginning of a Fabulous Vacation ...Aloha

"Lovely vacation condo in a peaceful setting on a golf course in Waikoloa Village. Decorated so tastefully with Hawaiian accents, and an extremely comfortable bed for a superb nights rest. A real surprise to find a vacation property that feels so much like home. This secret may cost me in the long run as the property may not be open the next time I try and book my vacation to the Big Island."

Billings, Mt.Very well equipped
Left on 04/07/2011 for a stay in March 2011
My wife and I stayed at this property from March 8th to March 22nd. The condo is a second floor unit that faces the 9th fairway of the Waikoloa golf course. The condo is conveniently located, in the complex, in relation to the pool/cabana area and to parking.
This condo is the best equipped condo that we have ever rented. It really does have everything to make your stay comfortable. It is very evident that the owners take pride in maintaining the unit and they were first rate to deal with.
I would highly recommend this unit to anyone.
