      Great Location!

Great Location! Super comfy bed and towels. Kitchen stuff just okay. Really good BBQ! Carpet should be removed, looks dirty. Only two rolls of TP supplied for 10 days. Lani View Spectacular at Sunset!

      Hawaii vacation

Left on 11/13/2012 for a stay in November 2012

The location was fabulous. You could watch the sunset from your patio, and it was just a few steps to the clubhouse. We had trouble working the television, it would go into any mode but tv. The coffee maker broke and had to be replaced. What bothered us was the lack of basic things, like TP and Kleenex. We were told to buy our own! We just made it with the laundry and dishwasher detergent. For a two week visit there should of been a cleaning service to restock some of these items and change the sheets. The condo is conveniently located and we had a wonderful time.

      Great location

Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in October 2012

The property was in a great location. The pool area is very small, only has a salt water pool and there is very little shade. The pool staff won't allow any of the lounge chairs to be moved under the trees and there are no umbrellas, so it can get very hot. As for unit 12C, the sofa is really in need of replacement (saggy pillows) and while the unit was clean on the surface a deep cleaning clearly hadn't been done in a while (dust & dirt beside refrig, washer, TV units). The beds were very comfortable and the towels were new and plentiful. The property management is very nice and will attempt to make your stay great, so I'm sure they will take a look at things upon reading this review.

      Fantastic place to stay!

Left on 09/14/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Halii Kai is a lovely complex on the Big Island, and unit 12C is one of the best units. The complex is really long and some of the units are far from the the pool, exercise room and restaurant. Unit 12C is just steps away from all of these amenities. It's ground level so if there are partiers above you it may be a problem, but for us it was fine.
The lanai overlooks the ocean and golf course and has a grassy "lawn" in front of it. There is a table and a gas grill to use, so we ate many meals out there enjoying the amazing view.
The kitchen is FULLY stocked in addition to the grill. We stopped at Costco and some farmer's markets and were able to make our meals for way less money than going out to eat. Better food too–we feasted on grilled marlin and shrimp, organic fruits and veggies, locally baked bread and Kona coffee.
Hawaii Life made sure there were plenty of towels and beach chairs, which made our beach days that much nicer. Upon arriving home, we could throw everything in the laundry and have clean towels and bathing suits the next day. That was awesome. The bed was very comfortable and the decor, while not my style, was charming. There were lots of bath towels and everything was really clean.
My only complaints are minor. The complex itself does not have a beach or any ocean access, but that seems to be the case on the Big Island more than the other islands. In terms of the complex itself, we didn't get to use the pool very much as it shut down really early at night. After a long day in the hot sun, we would have loved a dip in the pool or a soak in the hot tub after dinner, but it all closed at 8pm. Every other place we've stayed in Hawaii has pools and restaurants that say open until 10, which seems more reasonable.

Great stay at Halii Kai (12C) in Waikaloa

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The reviews we read about the property were accurate - this was a great location within a nice property. The unit has a view of the ocean and is conveniently located near the clubhouse/pool. Our kids had great fun in the pool, which was also a nice way to cool off. The management company was very easy to deal with, including welcoming us to the unit in person & with a gift. All around a fabulous stay.
