Spring break 2013. This is one of the nicest "rental" units we have ever stayed in...in fact it really does not feel like a rental...you are more like a guest in a friends home. The photos in the add are exactly what you get. Pure luxury with a view that is outstanding. We liked the position of the unit on the property where we could enjoy the lanai all day but not be cooked by the sun. The pool and pool area are fabulous and you have direct access to a-bay. We like to cook and this unit is ready for any chef. The appliances are top drawer and the grill is a built in unit on the lanai. We were fearful of running out of propane...grilling fish and steaks many nights...we emailed the property management company about being low on propane...within a couple of hours they had another propane tank delivered to us. Great responsive service.
Each bedroom is ensuite and there is also a powder room in the hallway. Plenty of room for the 6 people on our trip. Wifi works great. Nice collection of Dvd's if you want to watch movies. The owners have great taste in their decoration and artwork.
The Big Island has become our favorite over the last five years or so...when we come back we will make every attempt to stay in this unit again. -

My wife and I stayed here for a week and were able to totally relax. The owners have decorated in "casual but elegant" Hawaiian, including beautiful Hawaiian quilts on each bed, and Hawaiian-themed art on the walls.
The kitchen was spacious, well-equipped, and everything was in good working order. The living room area is comfortable with a large screen TV, stereo system, computer and wireless internet, wired telephone, fax/printer (if you must work while you're there).
We loved the massive four-poster bed in the master bedroom and the bathroom/shower was large and well-equipped, including premium toiletries.
The lanai offers cool ocean breezes and a fabulous view overlooking the resort's private swimming pool and a-bay beyond. It's also a pleasant walk to the Hilton to use their spa or restaurants.
We look forward to another vacation right here! -
Frustrated return visitor

No hot water upon arrival. Had to continually (at least once a day) reset the hot water heater. Clothes dryer not heating upon arrival, needed troubleshooting by management. Several towels were moldy/mildewy and had to be set aside and not used. Coffee pot old and nearly broken. We stayed at Kolea because we had a great experience a few years ago in 8C, but this trip was frustrating for the above reasons even though the unit and the property remain gorgeous. The owners of the unit need to address these items and the property management company needs to do a better job of ensuring everything is working properly and is satisfactory upon arrival.

This guest did not let the property management company know if the continuous resetting of the hot water heater nor about the dryer until they departed thus the property management company could not address their concerns. The coffee maker pot was one year old and someone broke the locking ring on the carafe for the lid to lock into and someone had pushe the dryer kinking the exhaust hose. Everything was repaired immediately after finding out about these issues.
