This unit was chosen due to the cost of $199/night, the view, location close to the pool and golf discounts. Unfortunately the owners are not maintaining the unit to the standards other units in the complex. When we arrived we found the shower door to be off, the screen door was broken, the oven not working, a floor mop in the patio door as a locking system and an extremely worn and stained carpet. We were promised that there would be a supply of standard products ie. hand soap, laundry soap. During our stay we had to purchase toilet paper, use our own hand soap (in addition to small amounts of soap provided the soap was very watery) and there was only enough laundry detergent for one load. I am not sure how we were expected to wash the towels prior to check out. The shower door was fixed while we were there and it was unfortunate that serviceman did not clean up (left window cleaner and towels on the floor). Although the view and location was wonderful we would not recommend this unit to friends or relatives. We look forward to staying at the resort Hali'I Kai again but in a different unit.

After having stayed at Hali'i Kai previously, we were very surprised at how poorly this unit compared to others we have stayed in there. We arrived to find the floors unswept with bugs and dirt, carpets with stains, food crumbs, dead cockroaches, centipedes, dirty tissues. The cupboards had many bugs in them-dead and alive, cockroaches seen scurrying across bathroom counters. The refrigerator had not been wiped out, wilted lettuce leaves stuck on shelves. Ice/water feature in refrig not working, oven not working, batteries dead in remotes/flashlight. Stove top smeary with grease. Many of the dishes and sliverware pieces required washing before they could be used. Poor selection of cookware and drinkware. Bathroom sink clogged, mildew in shower. During our stay, I took several pictures of the above-mentioned and e-mailed them to the owner. Their reply was that they would have the housekeeper contact us to address our concerns. Nobody contacted us. After we returned home, I again e-mailed the owner with some follow up information. I am disappointed with the seeming lack of concern for their customers. If it were me, I would be mortified at what I had been told, and would be apologizing upside down and backwards. Since we did more cleaning than the "housekeeper" did, I feel that we should get the cleaning deposit back, at least. In addition to the cleanliness issues, lack of concern by owner, the resort fee is $10/day, and not $40.00 as indicated in their property description. The BBQ by the pool at the clubhouse has also been removed. This condo is in an amazing location, and could be such a fantastic place, it's just so dirty. My husband and I were there for our anniversayr. We brough family with us who had never been to Hawaii. We were embarrassed by what we walked into. We will not rent from this owner again.

We had a fabulous stay at Sandy's Hali'i Kai unit. It was a quiet location, nice unit, had a comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, friendly neighbors, and nice view from the patio. The best part of all was the fantastic pool and workout area. Sunset at the pool was absolutely spectacular. Sandy was very helpful. She helped with our other reservations, arranged for an early check-in so our food wouldn't spoil, and was always easy to reach
Because of how quiet it is, the luxurious pool design, the “no splashing” rules, etc., this is a great place for couples, older travelers, families with very small children (under 3), or families with older, mature teens. Active children would likely be unsatisfied with the pool. There are tv's in each room of the unit, but the living room doesn't have much in the way of media/entertainment. That's perfect for people like us who don't want a lot of media while on vacation, but if you have kids who expect/want that, you may want to look elsewhere.
There were a few little frustrations with the unit (there was no dishcloth or sponge, lots of little things didn't work: soap dispensers, phones, telephone check-in procedure, the front door code reprogramming procedure, fridge took a long time to get cold enough), but once we got settled in, none of it was a problem or really mattered. The beautiful surroundings help the "aloha spirit" take over, then there is nothing to do but relax and enjoy!

Mahalo for this feedback! We have resolved the telephone check-in procedure although this should not be an inconvenience to our guests. It's simply a phone call from the property when you arrive and depart letting us know you've checked-in safely.
Apparently this guest was not aware of all the media/entertainment equipment in the home. As noted there are tv's in every room. Each tv is equipped with a built-in DVD/CD audio player as well as game/camera ports. A movie and audio library is available and many guests bring their favorites from home. The living room tv offers HBO on-demand for the movie buffs in your family. There is also an AM/FM CD stereo player in the living room. If we've overlooked something, please let us know, we're just a phone call away to accomodate you! -

We spent two weeks again this May we loved it so much last year and have already booked for 2011!
Sandy is a terrific host with the perfect condo. Clean and well appointed with amazing views and its only a three minute barefoot walk in the grass to the pool!
The large yard in front is perfect for the kids to play and fly kites while you watch them from the porch.
Its an end unit so it offers great privacy with unbelievable sunset views!
This condo has the best location at Hali'i Kai!

Dear Sandy,
I meant to write earlier to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit in
Hawaii. Your condo was perfect.. comfortable, roomy, quiet and beautiful
surroundings. We loved eating breakfast on the terrace overlooking the
golf course and the ocean in the distance. It was really a plus to be able to
enjoy the club facilities-- pool and jacuzzi. Sitting by the pool, we loved
admiring the sunsets. What a view!!
Only complaints, we found that the cleaning service could have done a
better job. In the master shower on arrival there was a stale smell and we
found a used bar soap . ALso when I wanted to use the vacuum there was
dirt left inside the clear pocket. You could see it and the stink was to
great.. we preferred not to use it. Plus my son wanted to use a cue tip from
the dispenser on top of the master bathroom counter and he found one
used.... I am not a picky person but this took away a bit from the
experience. My advice change cleaning services it distracts from the
experience.

The vacation property was very spacious and very well equiped. The decor of the property was spectacular. The ammenities of the community were very nice. The fact that Sandyvacation had a gold membership allowed for large discounts on golf green fees.
Overall I recommend this highly. Sandy is a fantastic lady to deal with. -

We stayed in one of the units at the Hali'i Kai resort in May of 2007. The unit was more than big enough for our party of seven. We appreciated the washer/dryer unit as we made good use of it, considering we traveled w/two small children. The kitchen is large enough for two or three people to work in at the same time. We have stayed in other units through Sandy Vacations - I would recommend them highly!

Beautifully furnished townhome with lovely view. Top amenities--granite counters, flat panel televisions, blender for tropical drinkmaking. Attached garage. Stay here instead of the crowded, expensive hotel next door. Exquisite ocean side pool,sand-bottom jacuzzi. Poolside food and drink can be ordered. We're going back asap!

I rented the unit through Sandy Vacations two years ago. I chose Sandy Vacations because of my previous experience w/them on other rentals. The unit at Hali'i Kai was more than enough room for our group of 7. It was beautiful, spacious, immaculate, and was right on the golf course. I would recommend this unit and Sandy Vacations to anyone!

This rental has an amazing view! All the furnishings were very nice
especially the Kitchen! We enjoyed many hours just sitting on the patio
and taking in the view. It is the perfect distance from the pool and the

The home was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was provided. There were towels and a complete kitchen and washer and dryer and dishwasher. The little patio was comfortable and shopping was close by. The pools were well maintained and there was a good restaurant and bar for lunch and snacks. We brought our grown children (3) with us and there was plenty of room for us all. We spent a week together at this house and had a lovely time - overall a great experience.

This was a beautiful condo in a beautiful development. The location was perfect for us with a view of the ocean, and just far enough away from the pool club area to not be bothered with lots of foot and car traffic yet close enough for even the little one to walk. The large grassy area off the patio was also great if you have children. The interior is decorated as any high end hotel would be, with little extras such as plush robes in the master. My only recommendation would be to provide some more dresser drawer storage in the middle bedroom.
Additionally, the gold package for golf was a HUGE bonus! The pool area is gorgeous and having the restaurant is a plus that none of the other condo areas in Waikoloa has. We would stay there again in a minute and recommend it to anyone. -

Unbelievable beautiful, clean, and fully equipped condo. Our 2 year old twins enjoy playing at the pool and backyard grass everyday. The pool is just a short walk away.
We definitely want to return here soon. Highly recommended. -

This unit was way more than we had expected. We had stayed before at Waikoloa however at a different property. The unit is beautifully decorated and fully stocked with everything (except food of course) that you need.
We especially enjoyed the lanai as it faced the ocean and we were able to spend every evening watching the sunset as well as morning coffee watching the whales.
The club and pool area is fantastic. You are right on the water and the view is spectacular!!!
Only concern when we were there is the lack of a grill. There was a community grill at the pool club, but it was usually being used and never worked properly. However we understand that Hali'i Kai has installed more around the property to help with this concern.
We highly recommend this unit, we hope to get back to Big Island and enjoy it again.
