We all enjoyed the house, very serene, loved the decor & the game room was a bonus. The view & access to the beach was great. I really liked that it is dog friendly also. Could not have wished for a better vacation.

Eugene, OR, United StatesPleasantly surprised
Left on 02/20/2013 for a stay in February 2013
This was a nice rental house. The third "bedroom" is a loft with its own bathroom so we put my mother-in- law up there. She liked it any I couldn't even hear her snoring from the main level bedroom. I thought the beds were too soft (very subjective) but no one complained and I actually slept well.
The wood floors are nice and I didn't see any stains or notice any smells on the white carpet in the bedrooms.
One leg of the foos ball table needs fixing. We stacked some boards up under it to make the table useable and my son loved it.
Easy beach access right off the back yard, but it's pretty muddy for about 30 yards at the bottom of the stairs. Bring your mud shoes. -

Loved it in August so came back in November. Much more comfortable for 2 or 4 people than 6. Queen in the downstairs bedroom was not very comfortable but loved the sound of pounding rain. GREAT views. Beach access fine for "normal folks" but not recommended for the infirm. Well maintained, great management. Can't say enough good things!

Salem, OR, United StatesOutstanding Ocean Front Location
Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We picked this house because of its ocean front location and we could not have been more pleased. The purpose of our visit was to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with our aging parents. The house was very accessible for them and they were able to enjoy the up close ocean views the entire time. My wife and I stayed in the loft bedroom which was very comfortable and had its own separate full bath. The home was clean and inviting and the kitchen was well stocked (except for an electric mixer) with everything we needed in terms of dishes and cooking utensils. We had a minor issue with hooking up the DVD player and the rental office responded immediately to fix the problem. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend the home and Bayshore rentals to anyone. We've stayed at Bayshore rental properties on 2 other occasions and have been very impressed with the office staff and the great customer service they provide.

We had a great time at Sandpiper Cottage. It rained most of the time so we had to stay indoors. It was great that there was a ping pong table. We played many rounds of ping pong. We had to go buy paddles as the paddles provided were broken. A hot tub on the covered porch would be a big improvement. Very clean and comfortable. We will be back.
Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC - 10/16/2012

Oops, sorry about the ping pong paddles, we will definitely make sure those are in good shape next time. Sorry about the weather!

Sherwood, OR, United StatesA Week at the Beach
Left on 10/14/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We needed a place at a moments notice and found the Sandpiper Cottage. It was the view and access we wanted. If we wouldn't have had 6 people it would have been a little more comfortable. The loft is cool but if you are a late sleeper the early birds wake you up, the mattress' could be replaced and the couch is very tired. I found a couple dirty towels shoved in the bathroom drawer? not sure what happened there? The lawn furniture is really dirty. The walk down to to the beach is dangerous for most people needs work. But beach access I only 4 houses down.
Other than that it was a beautiful week weather wise and we enjoyed the beach. -

My second year here. Suits our requirements perfectly. The twin mattresses are is SERIOUS need of replacement. A hot tub would be the perfect addition however I am already at my budget's max so that would no doubt rule me out for returning. I LOVE THIS HOUSE

this was the perfect house for a family get away:
location was fabulous in a quiet neighborhood on miles of beach front. Don't know how the access to the beach will be in winter......we walked to the beach through a marsh area which was mostly dry in Sept., but still boggy -

Wonderful home - much nicer than the pictures!
Beautiful clean beach, hardly any people in August!
The garage/ping-pong room really saved us with dogs, sandy feet and all the white carpeting.
We strongly encourage the rental agency to update the description to reflect that one of the queen "bedrooms" is an open loft with open staircase. Bedrooms have four walls and a door for privacy and noise buffer.
This is our fourth time using Bayshore and we will definitely be back! Overall we had a wonderful time and thank you for allowing our dogs!Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC - 09/04/2012

Thanks for the helpful suggestion. We've changed the description of Sandpiper Cottage so it now states the upstairs bedroom is a loft which is open to sound from the floor below but visually one cannot see up to that bedroom.

The view and the beach to ourself made up for the little things that needed improving (beach access, foos ball and ping pong table in garage in need of repair, white carpet with many many pet stains). The beds were super comfortable and it was a restful enjoyable week! Thank you!
Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC - 08/26/2012

pet stains. Some are permanent, actually. White carpet in a dog friendly house, just not a good idea. Anyway, that carpet is professionally cleaned at least 4 times a year. In the summer we have to schedule it in between guests and sometimes there just isn't time. Thanks for the heads up on the foos ball table and ping pong table, we will repair them right away. Other than those issues we are glad you had a good time and hope you will return.

Hayward, CA, United StatesSandpiper Cottage - HEAVEN
Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our family has been going to Sandpiper Cottage for at least 13 when we got our first little doggie. We love the location and the layout of the house. It's like our home away from home. We tried one other rental house very close to Sandpiper Cottage, and it just didn't have the same feel. Plus McKenzie, our bichon, kept going across the street waiting at the Sandpiper Cottage door for us to open it for her. We felt bad that we didn't rent it that one year, and won't do that again.
Thank you for our little heaven on earth. (We already reserved for next year:) -

Sandpiper cottage was a great location for the coastal experience-halfway between Newport and Yachats. The the office was closeby and very congenial-little market right there. Getting to the beach was a bit of a challange at times. The sofa in the living room bottoms out-very old and soiled feeling. The linens on the master bed were old and cheap and felt nasty. Those were the only two negatives. Had a wonderful stay and would use Bayshore services again. The rest of the amenities were very comfortable.
Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC - 08/01/2012

Sorry, we will definitely upgrade the linens and look at the beach access. It has recently been improved by the owners. Will also look at the couch situation.

Staying at the Sandpiper cottage was fantastic. The house is in an excellent location for day trips up and down the coast and great crabbing locally. The views were outstanding from the large windows and the wrap around deck. I don't think we could have picked a better place to rent!I would add a screen to the downstairs bedroom and have guest put the bbq grill top indoors after use to prevent rust. Other then that the sandpiper was great. We have rented 4 home on the coast over the last 10+ years and this was by far the best!Had a great time and look foward to coming back.

Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Let me start by saying this was the fourth time we used Bayshore Rentals to rent a vacation home. The staff is truly professional and go out of their way to be informative, helpful and make your stay enjoyable.
This was our first time at Sandpiper Cottage and even though you could see that they were in the middle of making some improvements to the property, the home was neat and tidy and in a great location. The kitchen was a bit small, but was well stocked with appliances and needed items. We only used the queen bed in the loft, but the other two bedrooms were good sized and looked comfortable, too. The view of the ocean and beach from the large wrap around deck is fantastic. Access to the beach from the back yard is down a short flight of stairs, then across a bit of a swampy area that requires some balancing over a couple of well placed logs. There is another beach access about 6 houses down the road with a much smaller wet area and easier access.
We were blessed with 3 beautiful, sunny days at Sandpiper Cottage, although a steady cold wind was blowing. The deck layout at the house gave us protection from the wind on the south side, so we were able to sunbathe out of the wind, it actually felt quite warm even though the temperature was in the upper 60's.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Sandpiper Cottage and will likely stay there again. I think it is a good value for the money.
Thanks again, Bayshore Rentals! -

As we found with other rentals we have stayed at in Bayshore and Yachats, seems like the BBQ's are never in working order. This one has a gas and a charcoal grill. The gas one was rusted beyond use and the charcoal grill was missing the coal grill inside. ALSO-this is a dog friendly house. We have two small dogs but there was an obvious urine odor in the house from past renters. Since it is dog friendly would be nice to have a fenced back yard for the dogs like the neighbors do.

We have stayed in this home four time and love the location. However, this year we were greeted by a horendous smell in the freezer. The living room furniture really needs to be updated/freshened up. It is also probably time for new carpeting. We were also disappointed that the steps down the hill to the beach were VERY precarious and a warning had been posted not to use. Next year we'll try a different place.

Our time with out of state family was enhanced by this ocean view home. We would have needed to rent 2 hotel rooms and then wouldn't have been able to share as much family time together. It was fun storm watching and seeing if the birds could make it past the front windows. The ping pong table was a hit with the boys and we even had a family tournament. (Is there a way to tighten the table legs?) We did puzzles on the coffee table and watched a little football. The old only snags were when a drip fell onto the person sleeping in the downstairs queen bed and when using the upstairs bathroom, there was water on the floor, we think, was coming from the shower. Overall it was a privledge to be able to be in this home.

Left on 09/17/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The location was nice, being right next to the beach, but direct beach access was more challenging than expected due to brush & drainage between the home and the beach (unlike properties further south in Bayshore). The home layout was very nice with a very large living area/great room facing the ocean. The loft was a favorite of our kids. Some of the appliances were not working (ice maker in the freezer and 2 of the DVD players), but overall we enjoyed the property and our stay very much.

We apoligize for the DVD players that did not work, they have been replaced. The beach access is much better if you access it via the street side of the home.

There is never enough light to do the sewing and reading in the eveningI'd like to do.We would love a CD player that actually worked and a radio that worked. Direct TV is a better choice and good addition. A sleep number bed in the master bedroom would be a wonderful addition so we don't have to visit the chiropractor the day after we get back which we did today. Some of the better pans are missing and the coated frying pan is a health hazard because the coating is coming out. The plastic cork screw for wine doesn't work. Love the new stove.

Overall a great house! I was most impressed with the deck and we spent quite a bit of time out on it. The covered portion of the deck was really handy, great that you could still be outside in inclimate weather. The "path" to the beach was not what I expected, the concrete blocks were skewed and a little difficult to go up and down. There were also a few ants in the kitchen (by the sink) so some ant traps would help. The boys loved the game room and what a lifesaver that was! They also took the kites out, which is something that we hadn't done before. We saw all the sights, aquarium, Newport, sea lion caves and really had a great time. Thank you for sharing your house with us!

Left on 04/05/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We had originally reserved a different property, however because of inclemental weather conditions which affected that property, we were given this one instead. Overall, this Sandpiper cottage is very comfy and has all the amenities for an enjoyable stay. We like the fact that it had indoor activities to keep us busy when the weather was not so hospital (ping pong was available). All the appliances worked and the cottage was very clean. Beach access is available onsite, however it could be problematic for older folks or very young kids as large concrete bricks are used for a quite a steep descent/ascent and footing might be a problem. Otherwise, I would recommend this property for a romantic getaway or a family getaway (sleeps 6).

A lovely cottage right on the beach. Very comfortable, only problem is the beach access is very overgrown and run down stairs make access tricky. Also, an overflow pipe on either side of the property makes the sand very muddy and smelly as you access the beach - but this does clear after a few feet. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
