Well, what can I say? It is hard to put in words just how fantastic this accommodation is. After 7 weeks of travelling with our 3 children and having done a lot of travelling around the world I would have to say that this is the best apartment accommodation we have stayed in.
The East Gate and St Peter's Chapel is wonderfully old, with some parts of the building 1,000 years old! And yet it has been renovated so that there is every convenience you can want yet done with such wonderful sympathy for the aesthetic of the period.
The beds are wonderfully comfortable and luxurious. The curtains throughout the apartment are heavy and perfectly in keeping with the accommodations history. In fact this is true of all the furniture and fittings. The dinning chairs feel as it they had come from a 17th Church!
As we stayed during winter warmth is an important factor (and even more so for us australian's) and this was no problem whatsoever with a wonderful hydronic central heating system. The bathrooms were also really very nice with heated towel rails. Both bathrooms have been very nicely renovated (as has the whole apartment) and were functional and spacious. The shower in the ensuite was wonderful - large spray head and plenty of pressure if desired.
The exterior of the building is wonderful with the 'church' tower also acting as a town clock (all managed by the owner who has a tremendous sympathy for ensuring historical character and community value). Probably one of the most loved features by us all (especially our son) are the crenelated Battlements that go almost all around the building. These Battlements are only accessible by the occupants of the apartment and they afford wonderful views of the surrounding town and streets. With the snow that started falling when we were there the Battlements provided a perfect position for my son to commence a snowball fight with me definitely being the underdog down at street level!
Bob and his wife have done a wonderful job and are really nice people to deal with. It's always the people who make your travels good, bad or great and Bob and his accommodation made our stay in Warwick truly fantastic. The small touches were very much appreciated. Flowers in the rooms, a bottle of wine in the fridge. Bob and his wife had also sticked the fridge with basic food essentials (milk, eggs, bread, jam, etc) so that we wouldn't have to run out and get food. It was such a nice surprise to have these things there for us and one that was really helpful when you arrive at the end of a long day of travelling which we had.
I can't recommend this accommodation highly enough. An accommodation treasure of England! -

We arrived late with two small children and the owners could not have been more helpful, we had a welcome pack on arrival with all the essentials in. The accomodation was clean, tidy and had everything and more we could have wished for. The location was perfect and centrally located to all shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend this beautiful place to stay - overall delightful!

Warwick East Gate has to be seen to be believed. The stunning location in the heart of the attractive County Town of Warwickshire has been admired for hundreds of years. Once inside the magnificent period furniture and decor will create a treasured memory. A memory so strong that you will yearn for a return visit as we did in 2010 and 2011. If you are within 100 miles do not miss staying in this unique experience.
