Description from the owner

Parking! Yes, drive up to the house and park right in the driveway at this beautifully appointed 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, 3 level townhouse that sleeps 4 on the waterfront in Southwest, DC.

Oh! What a View!

What a fantastic view of the Washington Channel from this three level townhouse. We are walking distance to Air & Space Museum, the Smithsonian's, National Stadium, restaurants and there is no need for a car. If you need to take the metro (train & bus) it is three (3) blocks from the house next to the Safeway grocery store.

The Southwest waterfront area is a hidden secret to even Washingtonians. It is suburbia in the cit...Read more

Stayed at Oh! On The Water with my girlfriend and we decided to visit the White House Christmas Tree. We thought we would walk to get a bit to eat then catch a cab to the White House. We ended up walking all the way to the White House from Oh! On The Water. Would never have thought it to be such a nice easy walk. The house was very clean and comfortable and very romantic with the wood burning fireplace. Highly recommend!

We have three small children and appreciated the cleanliness and convenient proximity to the subway as well as the grocery market. Very quiet yet we felt very safe. All appliances were sturdy and fully functional. Felt like a home away from home.
Had the opportunity to meet Marcy as we were heading to the airport and she seemed so very pleasant.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy getaway to retire to after a busy day sightseeing.

Spent 3 nights over New Years. Beautiful townhouse and great location. Walking distance to everything. Didn't have to eat in restaurants with the Safeway so close by. Have already recommended to a friend who will be traveling to DC in March. Would definitely stay here if we ever get up that way again.

Very beautiful and well maintained accommodation in the heart of Washington DC, the self contained house was as described and very comfortable. Complete bonus was the location and peaceful park like surroundings. Well organised and convenient rental process, would recommend this property as a base to all those visiting Washington.

      Best Deal in DC

Left on 11/30/2012 for a stay in November 2012

The townhouse is located in one of what must be a hidden gem of a neighborhood. Just follow the walkway out the back and you'll enjoy one of the nicest walks along the marina. Keep walking, and you'll discover a fantastic fish market where you can eat there or take it home. If you haven't had enough walking yet, you can walk your way all the way to the Tidal Basin and see the monuments. If walking isn't your style, go out the front door and 4 blocks down is the Waterfront metro station. It also happens to be in front of a Safeway market ( Starbucks located inside ).

The town house is very nice, no one above you. It's an end unit with the view you see here. This view gets better upstairs from the bedroom!! Now that I've given away all the secrets of how great this place is, I hope I can get a reservation for my next visit.

      Thank you Marcy!

Stayed at (oh! On The Water) with my wife and two teenage daughters at the end of a two week heritage tour of the East Coast. Very relaxing, clean, 5 minute walk to a great restaurant on the water (margaritas and tacos both rock), 5 minute walk to Safeway/Metro. We rent a lot of vacation homes, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

      Tranquility in DC!

Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our first trip to Washington DC was a great success; thanks to Oh! On the Water and Marcy. We loved the quiet and safe location of this townhouse. It was a very tranquil setting in a major city. We agree with previous reviews that there is a lot of air traffic noise but it never distrubed our sleep and in between; the neighbourhood was extremely quiet considering it's location. We loved being so close to the water and seeing the boats go by as we sipped wine on the terrific deck. We were able to walk to many attractions including the Baseball stadium which my husband enjoyed and we could be at the memorials or musuems in about 10 minutes. Shopping and restaurants/bars were conviently located. Marcy was extremely helpful from first contact and throughout our trip. Upon my inquiry, she suggested a boat cruise as an excellent way to watch the 4th of July fireworks and see Washington at night. It was a terrific suggestion and we were able to walk to the pier in under 5 minutes. We would recommend this townhouse if your visiting Washington.

Staying at Marcy's place was a pleasure. The house is in a good location, perfect either to walk to the sights or take the metro. Close to the metro station is also a grocerie store and Marcy even has reward cards we could use. The house has a lovely view over the river. We could see and hear the planes landing at Ronald Reagan airport, but it did not bother us. The communication was very good with Marcy. Before our departure we skyped and when we came to the house, the key was ready. I would definitely stay there again, and even longer. The city has so much to offer. Thank you very much Marcy.

"On the Water" is a beautiful townhouse right, you guessed it, on the water. The deck was a great place to relax and read in the morning. The kitchen was well equiped and it was only two blocks from the Safeway. Bed is a bit squeeky, so might want to upgrade that, but everything else about our stay was great.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at "Oh! On The Water" and I am happy that you enjoyed your mornings on the deck overlooking the water. That is one of my favorite things to do at the house as well. The squeak was actually from the headboard and was an easy fix. We ask our guests to let us know as soon as possible if something is not meeting their expectations so that we have an opportunity to fix it while they are still staying at the house and so that they can get the most from their visit.

The condo was all that it was advertised!! The views were wonderful and the condo was very comfortable with a home like atmosphere with interesting art pieces. Having channel views off the living room and bedroom were a treat .It was nice to have a small sofa in front of the windows in the BR to see the channel. The rental was near a metro line ,Safeway , CVS pharmacy and Phillips Seafood restaurant and FishMarket which was very accessible and in walking distance. It was nice to come back to this condo after a rigorous day at GWU graduations in the district.
Thanks again and I(we) will definitely take time to come back in the future.

Left on 05/01/2012 for a stay in April 2012

I'd really like to give Oh! on the Water 3.5 stars, but that's not an option here! It would be so easy to upgrade this rental to a 4 star experience with a few minor touch-ups and conveniences. I was lucky to find this rental at a special lower rate for a very last minute work trip since most other rentals were booked and hotels were extremely pricey for my travel dates. Marcy was fast & efficient in responding to my inquiries and sending along a rental agreement. I did not have to pay a deposit or cleaning fee, which made for an easy & stress-free transaction. Marcy responded quickly to most of my questions and arranged for luggage storage for an early arrival. The townhouse has a nice water view and is spacious, certainly more "bang for the buck" than a small hotel room at a similar or even higher rate than I paid. The trade-off is location. While the neighborhood is very leafy and residential and also close (5 min walk) to the Waterfront Metro, there's not much else in the area. Very limited number of restaurants/cafes nearby, no shops other than grocery & drug stores. It's about a 20 minute walk to the closest tourist attractions at the National Mall and the walk along the water to the Tidal Basin was farther than I expected. Not a bad walk on a warm sunny day, but we had some cold and rainy weather while in town. As for the house, it was mostly clean and comfortable but some of the furnishings & other little things could be easily upgraded (broken blinds, no headboard, no bedroom TV, very few wine glasses/coffee cups, more lamps, clean the dusty vents, etc). All in all, still much better than a hotel. Wish I could have taken advantage of the deck & outdoor furniture! That alone is probably worth the rental, but unfortunately it wasn't in the cards for this unseasonably cold trip. Oh! On the Water earned 3.5 stars for location, cleanliness, and the special rate value based on my experience.

It is unfortunate that during your entire stay the weather was cold and rainy which would make the nice walks to the monuments and museums unpleasant or even unthinkable. The walk is about 20 minutes but it is a beautiful walk along the waterfront and neighborhood when the weather is nice. I have provided a list of the nearby restaurants within a 5-15 minute walk from the house. There are about 10-15 restaurants In this quaint neighborhood. A short 10 minute taxi ride or 15 minute Metro ride will bring you to the hustle and bustle of the district with all the restaurant choices you can think of.
There is now a television set in the master bedroom suite along with the television in the living room. There are 5 wine glasses/ 4 coffee cups and 2 coffee mugs. There are no plans to add additional glasses or coffee cups/mugs since the house is only for 4 guest maximum.

Upon arrival I ask guest to notify me immediately if something does not meet their expectation so that we have the opportunity to make corrections. If we do not get a call we can not correct the concerns.

We booked Marcy's place at the last minute and it was perfect! Clean, bright, spacious and comfortable, with a great deck and views. Our two kids (5 and 7) loved it too. I only wish we were there more than 3 nights and had been able to go to a ballgame (stadium is 4 blocks away). We walked to the National Mall and all around and back on one day and took the metro in the next. It was great to have the Safeway only 3 blocks away to pick up lunch or dinner. We highly recommend Marcy's place and would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I spent four glorious days in Marcy's condo on the water. We enjoyed walking one block to Pier 4 and taking a great cruise to Mt. Vernon. We spent a tremendous night watching the 100th anniversary Cherry Blossum Fireworks from the balcony. And we had a marvelous time just walking for our excercise to the mall. The location is a little skimpy on resturants but it just takes planning. Thanks Marcy for having a place that people can enjoy the beauty and peacefulness.

I am so happy you enjoyed the house and you picked the perfect time to visit so that you could enjoy the big event on the waterfront for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The fireworks from the deck was the extra bonus. There are 2 fast food restaurants and 5 sit down restaurants in the neighborhood 4 of the 5 are on the waterfront with views. I will leave a list of local restaurants at this house. The more formal restaurants are found just North of the National Mall which is about a 10 minute bus ride on the Metro Train or Bus.
