      great for family of 5

Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013

The town home was fine for our family of 5. 2 grandparents and 3 teens. 8th ave restaurants are about a 15 min walk. we tried albertos, Teds Bulletin, and Matchbox. The teens loved them and price reasonable.
We had the master bedroom with ensuite and the three boys split the two remaining bedrooms and bath. Powder room downstairs was great and the dinning area was great for breakfast. Safeway was a long walk carrying bags.
Motts market is just 2 blocks and they had everything we needed. Mr. Palermo was great to work with and very fair.

      Good place to visit Washington

Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Appartment close to Market place (10 minutes from the metro station and the market) , confortable to receive 6 person . Do not need a car to visit this very nice city. One point need to be improved, the heating system noisy, next to the bedroom.

      Can't go wrong

Left on 12/29/2012 for a stay in December 2012

Yes. this is a great place to stay. We went with our grandchildren and their parents. Easy access to everything. The Eastern Market is great to visit, but quite expensive, whereas there is a Safeway within walking distance and the staff is very helpful. The Smithsonian is absolutely wonderful to walk around and visit. You can easily walk from building to building. Arlington Cemetery is also a must. The air & Space Museum is a wonderful experience for younger children. If you enjoy botanical gardens, don't miss that building. The Holocaust Museum was a touch of reality and also good for younger adults to be aware of what happened during WW 2. Worth going to was the Spy Museum for this age group. If you have granddaughters a visit to the american Girl store was a eye opener. They just walked around in a daze.

The highlight for me was the visit to the air & Space Museum about 7 minutes from the Dulles International airport. A huge airplane hangar done in a airy atmosphere. For me to actually look at the real space shuttle was incredible.

Restaurants in the vicinity are along 8th street, which is close by. The Matchbox was a somewhat good family place to eat.

Fabulous Brownstone makes for amazing Washington Experience

Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We visited Washington over the Veterans' Day weekend with our 3 teenaged sons and had an amazing experience - topped off by relaxing evenings in this fabulous brownstone. The listing description was very accurate regarding location and the walk to Capitol Hill is even shorter than described. The home was exactly as appeared in the listing photos - what a great renovation! The home has totally modern amenities but has also retained its character. It is immaculate and well maintained. The pre-arrival information answered all of our questions so we did not have to contact the owner once on site and had no problems that necessitated contact either. We would highly recommend this property to friends, relatives, or strangers. The purpose of our trip was to share the Capitol and the Mall experience with our kids. It is truly phenomenal to have access to all of the Smithsonian buildings, National archives, historic monuments, etc. for free. The monuments are beautiful when lit up at night. The Mall was great for some outdoor break from the sites too - picnic, throw a frisbee or football around. We also highly recommend the Newseum beside the Canadian Embassy - even though it has a commercial fee, it is well worth the price of admission. As well, we took the boys to enjoy some university sports. You can't beat the price of admission and calibre of play - in our case, we supported Georgetown for football and basketball. It was fun to poke around the campus and shopping district there too. The home is well situated to provide a respite after a busy day of activities. It is easy to shop for food to prepare at home at the Eastern Market or at Yes Organics. We enjoyed the local restaurants on 8th Street and near the Eastern Market including Trattoria alberto, Fusion Grille, and aquo 2. Whether you visit Washington for business or leisure, this Capitol Hill listing is the perfect launching pad for your Washington experience.

Family Vacation with College age Kids and Friends

Left on 08/23/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We booked this beautiful townhouse for our family vacation with college age kids and their friends. The townhouse made our vacation! We all loved it! The Eastern Market is nearby and we enjoyed picking up farm fresh foods to cook at "home". The patio was a luxury for us as travelers who could privately sip our coffee outside. The house was not only beautifully decorated but comfortable for all of us. We enjoyed little details like the dock for ipods, internet, cable, and books for browsing. We felt safe and comfortable walking through the neighborhood of historic homes with front yard gardens. The owners were gracious, easy to work with, and they really made sure we had a good visit. This was a lovely way to experience DC and to travel as a family of young adults.
