Welcome to our beautiful traditionally built Guest House only 100mtrs from the shores of Watamu National Marine Park on the North Coast of Kenya.

Rooms are let singularly, or for larger parties book all six and have this beautiful property to yourselves!

For those wanting the best of both worlds we have recently opened a new self contained Apartment offering more privacy but enjoying use of all amenities.

Situated on Kenya's North Coast in the small fishing village of Watamu, Giriama Residence is a superior quality, family run self catering, Guest House set in beautiful shady tropical gardens just a few minutes stroll to the... white coral unspoiled beaches of the world famous Watamu National Marine Park.

Indulge yourself in our warm highly personal service offering versatile accommodation to suit the individual requirements of families, couples and independent travellers alike.

This is the ideal location for those not wanting the restrictions imposed by larger hotels.

Our aim is to provide an African experience for all of our guests to enjoy!

Bed Rooms

We have four double bedrooms and two family rooms all en suite with showers, built in the traditional white Coastal style these airy rooms remain pleasantly cool even in the heat of the sub Saharan day.

All of our rooms feature King size hand carved four poster beds with mosquito nets, fitted wardrobes and ceiling fans.

Our downstairs rooms have large furnished verandas leading to spacious tropical gardens and terraces. Wheelchair access can be provided to downstairs rooms on request.

Upstairs rooms, two double and two family rooms have large balconies facing either the Indian Ocean or our beautiful gardens

Apartment

Set in its own gardens the apartment has one large bedroom, shower room /WC, dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The dining room easily converts into a second bedroom for larger parties or families. Both rooms lead onto a large furnished veranda ideal for al fresco eating or simply relaxing.

All rooms are cleaned daily with fresh bed linen and towels alternate days.

Laundry Service

Washing lines are provided for drying of beach towels and swimwear or for a small tip your Room Steward will be willing to wash and iron larger items for you.

Terraces

Terraces and gardens surround this property leading to our large grill / BBQ and shared; kitchen fully equipped with fridge, freezer, gas/ electric hob, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine, blender, toaster, kettle, saucepans, serving dishes, and much more.... We are only a stone’s throw from the beach and first stop for local fishermen who bring their catches straight from the Indian Ocean so why not try your hand at Swahili cuisine or we will BBQ for you using produce straight from local farms.

Eat you meals under the stars and relax with a drink from the licensed bar on our garden TV lounge veranda with a large selection of DVD's, CD's, Books, Games etc. the perfect place to chill out and catch the breeze drifting in from the Indian Ocean.

  Bellissimo! L'ideale per chi come noi voleva visitare il kenya e watamu in modo un po' meno "finto" rispetto ai villaggi...
  Le camere sono spaziosissime, pulite, confortevoli e funzionali. Sia le finestre che i letti hanno le zanzariere.
  Vengono forniti gli asciugamani con cambio ogni due giorni e la pulizia delle camere viene effettuata giornalmente.
  Noi, io mia sorella e i nostri fidanzati abbiamo usufruito della cucina in comune, anche essa pulita e comoda per chi come noi non voleva mangiare sempre fuori (o mangiare a orari prestabliti come nei villaggi)... Inoltre mangiare lì e condividere la cucina è stata un'ottima occasione per conoscere altre persone, sia altri viaggiatori che i ragazzi che lavorano nel residence.
  Il personale è cordiale e disponibile.
  La posizione in cui si trova il Giriama è ottima: a meno di 5minuti dal mare e dal centro di watamu (e dal supermarket più fornito Mama Lucy).
  La terrazza è un altro punto a favore di questo residence, i grandi divani ci hanno regalato momenti di vero relax!
  Consigliato a chiunque voglia viversi il kenya senza spendere troppo per l'affitto di una casa privata (a volte troppo lontane dal centro) e per chi come noi non vuole andare in villaggio.

  A beautiful home..away from home :)

  My husband and I stayed for a couple of days at Giriama residence and we simply loved it!! The rooms are spacious with a very nice sit-out area, where we enjoyed the cool breeze and had our dinner under the stars. It is just a 2 mins walk to the Watamu beach and 15 mins ride to Gedi ruins. The staff took very good care of us and we were given the option to either cook or order for food. We chose the 1st option and felt absolutely safe when we went out in the dark to the beach or grocery shopping to Mama Lucy's supermarket. While you stay here, there are many activities to choose from...snorkelling at Watamu marine national park, canoeing at Mida creek, visit the turtle rehabilitation centre, shop for handicrafts or paintings. For pet-lovers, there are some really friendly dogs and a cat here.
  We would highly recommend a stay at Giriama residence for a cozy stay and we plan to visit them for atleast a week next time!

  I recommend Watamu and Giriama Residence to all travellers!
  I spent a hole week here but it isn't enough for such beautiful place as Watamu. There are very good beaches with white sand and light blue water. It is the best place for relax!
  Giriama Residence is small and quiet guest house with cosy rooms. The staff is helpful and accommodating. After my holiday here, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

  We had a wonderful time and we will definetely go back!!
  The rooms are very big, bright, clean, airy, with super view from the balcony. The walk to the beach/village is short. The staff is very lovable. The fish we had was very nice, the only thing missing was vegetables.

  For a very good price you get really good quality. The atmosphere is very quiet and the staff is nice.You really feel on vacations. There is kitchen to cook on your own and cold drinks. 3 minutes from the beach.Perfect for a weekend.

  Giriama Residence is a very special place. The property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious with huge canopy beds. A gorgeous beach is just a three minute walk away. The staff and Giriama Residence will take wonderful care of you. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

  Conveniently located guesthouse with a very helpful host/owner - a great value alternative to hotels in the area, whilst still benefitting from its close proximity to the beach and other amenities - restuarants, snake farm etc!
