Lamu House is a lovely four bedroom home set over three floors in a walled garden with a large pool. It is only a few minutes walk from the main Turtle Bay Beach overlooking Watamu Marine Park, close to local amenities and hotels and yet secluded enough to be a peaceful retreat.

On the ground floor there is an open plan living area with dining table enough to seat 10 guests, a cosy seating corner and a doorway leading out to the lush garden. A covered terrace with outside dining and bar area look out over the swimming pool which has a small round child's pool attached, ideal for the family. The kitchen is off the main living space... and is modern in design and fully equipped.

Upstairs on the first floor, there are three main bedrooms - each with overhead fans, mosquito nets and air-conditioning. Two bedrooms have large double beds and an ensuite bathroom, whilst the the third houses a double and a single and has it's bathroom over the corridor. Hanging on the walls are evidence of the owners love of deep-sea fishing - one of Watamu's great sports.

A further set of stairs leads up to the top floor of the house, which contains a TV sitting area with a beautiful stained-glass baobab window above it. The TV room leads out onto a private balcony with cement seating area from where there are views up over the tree canopy.

Off the TV room and upper floor is the spectacular master bedroom suite - an enormous bright double bedroom stretching the width of the house, with a double bathroom off it, including a 'his and hers' sinks, a large corner bath as well as a large walk-in shower. The bedroom leads out onto a private balcony where a further bed sits. From here there are views out across the trees towards the Ocean.

Lamu House is fully staffed, including an excellent cook and housekeeper. It sleeps a maximum of 8 guests comfortably and has DSTV, good security and a backup generator in case of a power cut.Read more

Watamu is one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Located approximately 100km North of Mombasa, the waters are a protected Marine Park allowing spectacular opportunities for snorkelling and scuba-diving, with lovely corals and blizzards of colourful fish. The pristine white sands along Turtle Bay Beach are a haven for nesting Turtles, and every now and again you have the privilege to see the little rubbery turtle hatchlings make their first mad bid for the ocean. Watamu is a special place for all water sports, from Deep-Sea Fishing to Kite-Surfing and Kayaking. Close by is the protected Mida Creek and it's fabulous array of birdlife and mangrove forests - a trip to Watamu is not complete without a dhow trip to watch the spectacular sun-sets over Mida.
