Lorna Doone Apartment is the ideal base for couples looking to stay near the coast and in the ancient harbour town of Watchet. The property is a ground floor studio apartment with level entry access in a newly constructed complex. There is a two-seater sofa in the living area and a small table and chairs for eating. Watchet is a charming town nestled on the West Somerset coastline with Exmoor to the East, the Brendon Hills to the South and the Quantocks to the West. Watchet is a small town but it packs a lot in - an active Marina, an Old Port, many quaint houses and narrow street, museums, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, tea rooms, post office, grocery shops, a bank and a range of individual shops too.
It's an ideal place to stay for a few days or even longer, with many walks in beautiful countryside, along the interesting coastline or just enjoy the Esplanade and the Marina. Bus routes run through the town on a regular basis towards Minehead and Taunton.
Watchet has so much history, you will have plenty to explore if you chose to visit. Watchet was first recorded during the dark ages, when St Decuman arrived from South Wales and acted as a physician, arbitrator and pastor to the local community. In the Iron ages, Daws Fort was built above Watchet to protect the port and area. Watchet's then natural harbour, made it an early trading centre and in the 10th century coins were minted here for Ethelred II and five more Saxon Kings.
The 'centre' of Watchet is just a short walk from Lorna Doone Apartment. Willtion is the next nearest town, approximately 2 miles from Lorna Doone Apartment, Minehead is approximately 7 miles away.

  We spent the weekend staying at this well-situated modern apartment. It was absolutely perfect for what we needed - clean, well-equipped and with a comfortable bed in a cornered off sleeping area. The apartment is also in a great location - we were able to walk to the harbour and reach the shops in Watchet in a matter of minutes. Great location also for the beach, which is just down the hill from the apartment. During our stay we also visited Dunster Castle and Exmoor - which are both easily accessible by car.
