The Lake Retreat is an absolutely gorgeous cottage, I went with my family, my brother, sister and their families (18 of us) for a week and enjoyed every moment. Waterville is a beautiful little town, with many places to visit in less than an hours drive away. The cottage is very well maintained, cost was very reasonable, including fuel for heating. the view from the lounge is amazing, the garden huge and the anglers among us were a five minute walk from the lake. All the bedrooms are of ample size and I can't recommend it too highly. We are all seriously looking at going again next year we enjoyed it so much and hopefully can book this amazing cottage again.
The biggest house and the biggest garden we have ever rented.

The house is well appointed, and well furnished. Eleven of us had masses of space, with enough bathrooms for even our teenage members to dawdle and not cause problems. It is very light and airy with stunning views. The beds are comfortable and plenty of linen and towels were provided.
The garden has a stone circle and a small harbour at the bottom, which was brilliant as we took two kayaks with us and could launch from our own harbour.
It is a 15 to 20 minute walk into Waterville which has two supermarkets and a number of cafes. We cooked for ourselves and there was plenty of equipment and an enormous table for us all to sit round.
I would recommend this house to any group but young children would need to be supervised near the water edge.
My only complaint would be the high cost of gas and electricity, which is not included in the rental. Read more
Thank you for your lovely review and it was so nice for the owner and ourselves to hear how much you enjoyed your holiday. The benefit of such a spacious house is that everyone can take full advantage of the facilities and split the costs therefore often working out more financially beneficial than booking several smaller properties!
It is standard practice in Ireland for utilities to be billed on a consumption basis. The owner charges oil and electricity by before and after meter readings at cost price, and the cost of gas is included in the rental.
The owners hope that they may look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
