    Additional Location Information

Hike right from the cabin into the National Park!

Ridgetop cabin with panoramic views of Wears Valley and the Smoky Mountains to the south and west, toward Gatlinburg, Smokies, and Pigeon Forge to the north and east. Close enough to everything, yet semi-secluded and peaceful. 20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge, 27 mins. to Dollywood. 5 mins. to GSMNP entrance. If you want to visit Cades Cove early in the morning -- this is a great starting point. Beautiful drive through the Park -- cabin is located half way between Cades Cove and Gatlinburg.

Explore Townsend - the Quiet Side of the Smokies. Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center has free areas & minimal admission -- very interesting! Caves, bike riding & good restaurants in and near Townsend also.

There are only 8 cabins on this dead end road -- this is not one of those cookie cutter resorts! 3 cabins are owned by our family -- great for a reunion - ask about renting multiple cabins!

Summertime - Private swimming pool is shared by only 8 cabins.

We recently rented this cabin and i must say it was definitely one of the good cabin out there. The view was breath taking. we enjoyed sunset and sunrise from the balcony. the owner is very nice and made sure every little detail. I would recommend this cabin for kids and elderly people. if i will have to come back to smoky mountains, i will definitely consider this one among other cabins.

      A Great Vacation

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Last week, our family of six, spanning four generations from ages 10 to 92, enjoyed a week's stay at "Above the Clouds." Our most fit of the group enjoyed hiking Cove Mountain to the fire tower along the logging road. The resulting views and the chance meeting with a "local" were well worth their efforts. The cousins and some of the adults enjoyed the pool and the hot tub, but we all enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the cabin with the ever-changing views. We had fun trying to see the bear that wanted to make way with the trash cans. Little did he/she know that we had the best garbage in the house! We enjoyed the adventures to nearby Cades Cove, Dollywood adventure Park, Bass Pro Shop, Smokey Mountain Knife Works, as well as the apple Barn Restaurant and shops. This is a great place for a family get-away! The house is very comfortable and has everything you need except for food and clothing. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

      This place was awesome!!!

Left on 07/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This place is awesome!!! The owners were very accommodating in both providing detailed information about accessibility and rearranging furniture to suit our needs. We were more than satisfied with everything – it really went beyond our expectations. The cabin is beautiful and extremely well equipped. The views were fabulous with different sunsets every evening. There are seven cabins on the ridge, but this one is on the end; so there are three private sides. Proximity to the park is great, and the cabin really is on the ‘Peaceful Side of the Smokies’ as some of the ads in the area indicate, but not far from the attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We had a terrific vacation and have already scheduled to go back next year.

My husband uses a manual wheel chair and the ramps were a little steep, but considering the location, we were pleasantly surprised at the level of accessibility. Sitting on a ridge with limited space for building, we were impressed that the owners tackled the job of creating an accessible cabin. Other property owners should follow their example! The first floor has a roll-in shower that is a bit small for a shower chair, but once again, it is doable, particularly with assistance. The downstairs roll-in shower is much larger and should work for most individuals. The features included to make the cabin accessible are beneficial for both able-bodied individuals and individuals with disabilities. This cabin is great for everyone!

      A home away from home

Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Normally we go to the Rocky Mtns, but this year we decided to go east to the Smokey Mtns. When I googled wheelchair accessible cabins, I found this cabin. When we arrived we were completely satisfied with the entire cabin. Not only was it a true wheelchair accessible cabin but it was clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable for the 7 of us. The view from the balcony was spectacular. In all of our years of traveling the check in process was by far the easiest. The only thing that I didnt like was not being able to explore away from the cabin as the road was so steep I didnt know if my wheelchair would make it back up.

      Wheelchair accessible Mountain Experience

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011

This wheelchair accessible cabin made it possible for our entire family to enjoy a beautiful vacation together. My husband is in a power wheelchair and 2 of the 3 levels of the cabin are accessible allowing him to be part of the family activities. The beds are on an open frame so we were able to easily use our hoyer lift and there are 2 roll-in showers which worked well for our needs.
The owners of the cabin were very helpful leading up to our trip. The cabin itself is well equipped with everything you would need in the kitchen, entertainment options, and even WiFi.
The location is fantastic for getting into Smoky Mountain National Park on a less traveled entrance. The only thing that surprised us was the very steep drive up to the cabin if you're not used to driving in the mountains.
We are already talking about planning our next vacation to the cabin!

We're so glad you had a great time! Would you believe the steep part of that paved road is only 1/2 mile? We know it seems longer, especially the first time, but those views are well worth it!

      Heaven

Left on 02/09/2011 for a stay in September 2009

We rented above the Clouds with another couple. Our friend is confined to a wheel chair. This was the only cabin we could find in this area. How lucky we were to find this awesome cabin. The views and sunsets are incredible. The only thing slightly negative was our friend needed help up both up the ramps as they were a little to steep for him to do it himself.
You will not regret renting this cabin.
