Out of the way cabin in the woods...

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We wanted a cabin that was secluded and not in a "cabin development" like we had previously ended up in. This was perfect with a beautiful river running below it. Although the cabin could use a little TLC we would still highly reccomend it!

      an overpriced escape

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Owners came on property several minutes after my assigned check in time and continued to outfit the cabin...many of the services such as the hot tub were turned off...whereby I had to make a special telephone call to have it activated. The shower and bathroom tub controls would not work ...noway it could be used...an unacceptable rental and a complete waste of money !!!

      A place with the basics

Left on 09/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This is a place for folks that are looking to camp out but don't want to pitch a tent. The cabin is secluded for a quiet and private get away. It has a great view of the New River. Unfortunately the location makes the cabin humid. It has a well stocked working kitchen. It does not have a washer as advertised. The bathroom is small; combination of tub and shower with the toilet and sink squeezed in. Unfortunately for us, the shower did not work and did not get repaired during our stay. There is no air Conditioning; makes for very hot humid summer nights.

Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My husband, two dogs and I spent a long weekend at Rivertime, and it proved to be one of the most relaxing and rewarding trips in recent memory. We spent all day hiking in the region, then came "home" to cook and enjoy the river and peaceful surroundings. Our dogs were like puppies again! We will certainly return.

Perfect secluded cabin for a relaxing and romantic weekend away

Left on 02/08/2011 for a stay in December 2010

Rivertime was a dream come true. We stayed two nights in the cabin for a little time away from the grind of northern Va. It was the perfect blend of seclusion and privacy yet access to asheville. The river was gorgeous, as were the longer walks we took around the neighborhood. The wood stove, cozy hot tub, and gorgeous ladder/loft were definitely highlights. We often talk about how much we miss 'the cabin' and dream about when we can make it back. Perfect!

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in October 2009

My wife and I absolutely loved Rivertime. It was wonderful. The peace and
quiet were perfect. We were a little disapointed at the lack of cable or satellite
TV as far as we could tell but then again, you don't go there to watch TV. It
was very very secluded. The road is easy to miss and very steep but that's a
good thing. I want to return again soon.

Thank you for a great experience.

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in June 2009

It was very peaceful and I loved being able to walk to the river and do some fishing. Although the river and the shade seem to keep the house cooler than most in June, I would maybe suggest a window unit for the summer months.
This is a great place for people who love to fish and wander and relax.

      Rivertime is your time!

Left on 05/20/2009 for a stay in April 2009

My husband and I first visited Rivertime in the fall of 2006. We had such a wonderful time there the first visit that I planned a surprise trip 3 years later to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! Not only is it a special place but it is somewhere that you are going to want to return to again and again. We were able to bring our dog which is so nice as the property is like a little peace of heaven not only for humans but also our furry friends! The property owners think of everything you may need including an ipod docking station, massage table, board games etc. Really though what you will do is forget your worries and leave feeling rested.

Left on 12/08/2008 for a stay in November 2008

This vacation was actually a little getaway celebration to discover that me and my husband are expecting our first child. The location was great, nothing beats waking up to the sounds of the River. Me and my husbands issues were it was difficult to find the key, and the the water in the Jacuzzi was dirty. I understand that it is well water, but the owners should atleast try to get the dirt out. Some natural simple in-expensive bamboo blinds would not hurt. Also we got lost getting there called the owner on the contract, and she was slightly rude and agitated. Being a positive people we did other things to uplift the situation and did other things to have fun and peace during the stay.

      Carolina Mornings

      Manager

      Dear Victoria,

Thank you for your review and for corresponding with us after your stay so that we could remedy your concerns. We can certainly understand your frustration when you had difficulty finding the key that was misplaced when you arrived, and for odd items like this, we are always available, 24/7, to alleviate the issues as we did when we directed you to the hidden key. We have demanded the owners make sure they key is properly placed and easy to find for future guests.

We are sorry that you found the hot tub in that condition, and have communicated your concerns with the owners. Your comments and recommendations about the property are very helpful - we're always glad to be able to forward guest recommendations to our owners.

Upgrades are in the works - recently the bathtub was refinished, and the fridge is also due to be replaced. The outside table will be replaced in the spring, and we are encouraging the owners to pressure wash the exterior and continue to freshen up the interior. Your comments will only encourage these types of changes.

We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay despite the mishaps you encountered. Thank you for being so positive. We hope you will stay with Carolina Mornings again for a future visit!

      Won't be back

Left on 10/02/2008 for a stay in September 2008

When we first arrived we discovered that the cabin was not very clean or neat. As we proceeded to look around we found the hot tub to have slime residue on the seats and bottom. When we went to cook we found that the dishes had food residue and food particles on the plates. When we went to bed we found that the comforter had semen stains on the underneath side. We decided to grill and found the gas tank empty and looked per the directions for the additional tank, there was none. We called the owner and she brought us a tank from their personnel grill which while on your anniversary was unacceptable. We travel and have stayed at many cabins etc. but in the past in comparison for what we paid for this rental was highly unacceptable not including the fact that we had to wash the dishes before we left. We will never rent this cabin again nor advise anyone else to rent. You really have to see it to beleive it.

Rivertime was an amazing adventure into nature! We had the amenities of a hotel, but also the gift of being immersed in nature and renting from an individual with a unique touch. The hot tub was the only aspect of the vacation that concerned me. It was old, difficult to work, and had a distinct and funny smell. However, we loved and appreciated everything else the cabin had to offer.

This was exactly what we needed! After 14 years of marriage and 2 children you tend to forget about each other. We desperatly needed to escape reality as we knew it! Although we only had one weekend it was perfect. The cabin is secluded from any source of stress. The sound of the river below takes you on you own peaceful journey. We will return without a doubt to continue to focus on each other with no outside distractions. This may have been the best step we took in saving our marriage from disaster!

      Small and dirty

Left on 07/01/2008 for a stay in June 2008

This cabin was not properly cleaned and had a run-down appearance compared to cabins of a similar price range that I have stayed at.

The hot tub was cloudy and had a green film on one of the jets inside.

I think with its smallness - it's basically one big room - the cabin is overpriced, but at whatever price it should have been much better cleaned.

      Now this is privacy!

Left on 06/10/2008 for a stay in May 2008

I was relocated here as the result of a late night barking dog at
another cabin and what a blessing that move turned out to be.
Although I could hear some of the neighbors dogs barking from the
porch, they were not near enough to be offensive and they did not
bark at night. I loved this cabin so much that I did not want to leave.
Although I came to NC to hike and explore the mountains, there were
a couple of days that I just chose to stay here and wander around this
property and river. This place is so secluded that it's actually like
being in your own private little world. I can't wait to come back.

Great for a quiet, scenic getaway

Left on 05/19/2008 for a stay in May 2008

My husband and I stayed in this cabin for a short week to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. It was exactly what we were looking for! The cabin has a rustic appeal, but with some modern conveniences. We very much enjoyed the privacy and quiet... you could sit with the back door open and enjoy a good book with only the sound of the river in the background. Of course, the hot tub on the back deck was fabulous and the view amazing! Our puppy Sophie also had a lovely stay.

While the cabin itself provides a nice getaway from the daily hustle and bustle, it is still close enough to Asheville for those who would like to venture to Biltmore or have a night out in town.

      We hope to return soon!
