Description from the owner
Enjoy this appealing air conditioned cottage nestled among the trees adjacent to Drummer Cove in Wellfleet, MA. The charm of the 1900's bare wood walls, including a vaulted ceiling and skylights, is merged with fully modern conveniences for a very comfortable and relaxed stay. The fouton in the living room opens into a full size bed which is in addition to the full size bed in the bedroom. There is a full size refrigerator and four burner stove in the kitchen area and all the utensils to prepare and serve a meal for four (should you choose). The picnic table in the front of the cottage is a great place to have your morning coffee and brea...Read more

The cottage rents Sunday to Sunday during the summer, July and August, to avoid the heavy Saturday traffic going to and leaving the Cape.

The pros: We again enjoyed this cozy cabin which is so completely equipped with all sorts of nice touches. Even a rainy day did not dampen our spirits since we could dry our clothes in front of the heater.
The Con: We could not get the cabin a week earlier and because of this, we could no longer get a ferry for a one day trip to Boston.
We are hoping for better luck next year. -

Our stay at Mr. Hopp's cottage was just fine. The cottage was cozy and rustically finished lending an aura of authenticity to our experience of Wellfleet. For the most part, it was very well appointed. A few additional amenities might include a larger pot for lobster, a larger grill, and possibly, a cheese grater. As for the structure, it could have used slightly larger windows during it's remodel as the cottage was pretty dark. It would also have been nice to have a raised deck over the existing patio making it a little more appealing as a place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The only other issue was the layout, which didn't allow us to close the bedroom door at any time while guests were visiting.
Though it's proximity to Rte 6 was rarely an issue, at times we wished for a bit less noise.
All that said, many thanks for a wonderful stay. Best, M French -

I was a little hesitant to send money to an off site owner vs a realty agency, but Frank was true to his word and sent confirmation and a key as promised.
Pros: The house was clean The kitchen well stocked with pots/pans and tools. The bedroom was comfortable. Convenient location to bike trail, on road bike loop by the ponds and out to ocean view. Close to great French patisserie, you can ride your bike there for croissants, etc. Close to town beaches and Marconi. Close to Wellfleet. The neighbors on either side were not present, so it was quiet from that point of view. We watched seals and several pods of whales from the beach one day. We love swimming in the fresh water ponds nearby.
Cons: The traffic and road noise from Route 6 were unacceptable. I'm not sure that we'll travel to the Cape again at that time of year. Almost impossible to make a left turn out of the side street. The futon couch was not comfortable. The wireless didn't work. We had one rainy day stuck in the house and were unable to watch any movies online or check weather, restaurants, etc.Response from FRANK HOPP - 05/13/2012

Thank you for calling the problem with the modem/WiFi to my attention. I have replaced the unit with a new modem/WiFi which is working very well. I am sorry that the traffic proved to be such a large concern for you but Juy and August are peak season for visitors and traffic can be very heavy. With the increased traffic there is some increase in the background traffic noise. However, the other folks who have written commjents did not seem to find that objectionable.

We've been renting this lovely Wellfleet cottage every summer or early fall since 2004, and it's one of the best finds we've ever had. The perfect spot for a couple or small family who wants a beach vacation at a nice place with a full kitchen, it's clean, comfortable, and well- maintained, with excellent amenities and upgrades over the years (nice flowers and garden outside, WiFi, cable TV, air conditioning, a small outdoor grill). It's also convenient (right off Route 6, minutes by car to beautiful local beaches and to the center of town), but still tucked away in the woods next to Drummers Cove enough that you don't hear noise from the main road. Frank Hopp, the owner, has been a pleasure to deal with, too. We love his Drummers Cove cottage and can't wait to go back.

I really enjoyed my stay in this cottage. The owner seems to have spent time considering the needs of his guests and besides being clean and comfortable he provided comforts that made me feel at home very quickly. It was very hot when I was there and the air conditioner was much appreciated. Wellfleet was really a good place to stay, it turns out. Exploring the area led to many pleasant discoveries like the wildlife sanctuary and the many miles of unspoiled beaches that are part of the National Seashore, and art galleries (for which apparently the town is famous). There were several really great restaurants and so it was good that I was close to the bike trails (renting a bike was really easy). All in all I had a great time and look forward to returning.
