Description from the owner
Nothing but the sound of wind and birds greets your senses in this 60's California-style, spacious home located on the crest of a dune on Lieutenant Island in Wellfleet. The views down the dune, across to Indian Neck and downtown Wellfleet, and out to Great Island from the house are breathtaking. There is a vacant lot on one side of the house, conservation land stretching far down the dune on the opposite side, and the dune and bay on another. Woods and water are your views everywhere!
Lieutenant Island is a tidal island totally accessible by vehicle except at high tide when the water sometimes surrounds the quaint little one car bridge...Read more

Toronto ONamazing house for two families to share
Left on 08/28/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This is a beautiful house, perfect for two families to share. I'm not sure I would have been as happy if I didn't know the family in the other half -- it's a bit too close for comfort. The remote location on lieutenant island is extraordinary -- although access is limited by tides; and bike access is difficult due to the terrain. We loved the beach at high tide, the gorgeous sunsets on the point, the views out of all the windows. We've been to the cape many times, this is a unique and wonderful location.

We had our family reunion there with 12 people. We loved the 2 living rooms. We used one for games and puzzles and the other for more social whole group activities. Loved being able to walk down to the ocean. The 2 decks are nice - we found the sunrise deck great for dinner because the other deck was sometimes still too hot before sundown. The sunset deck was our favorite spot for the whole group to hang out because of the large size and the ocean view. The sunsets were spectacular. We used and appreciated the gas grill daily. The tide issue was not much of a problem for us. We were never in much of hurry there since our purpose was to relax and visit. However we did have a friend come to dinner and left too late to get over the bridge. She stayed an extra couple of hours but not a big deal. So do take the tide charts seriously if getting on or off is important. Overall we very much enjoyed the place and even talked of going again.

7 adults, 7 kids, 7 amazing days! House fit us all comfortably, with great deck space and beautiful dune and harbor views. The beaches on the island were deserted. The national seashore beach was a short drive, for waves. Low tide was like a private aquarium reserve. Recommend: bug spray and lots of it; jump off the bridge at high tide.

Providence, RIIdyllic setting on a bluff with absolutely gorgeous sunsets.

Peaceful location on Lt. Island. Quiet, spot with the natural beauty of the bay. Love the low tide for long walks on the beach. House is comfortable and spacious with privacy for everyone in our extended family gatherings. A great place to share family reunions. For the past four years, we had our family join us from Texas, Michigan, Minn. Ny and RI. Enjoyed our "quiet area" with great breakfasts on the Sunrise side. Then ended with party games, spectacular sunsets and awesome dinners on the Sunsets side.
We have been vacationing with our family on the Cape for 20 years and by far this is our favorite location.
Even when we couldn't return to the island (bridge under water) one late afternoon because of the tide, we had a lovely, memorable experience waiting along with the residence from the other 10 cars waiting.
A great place to kayak and swim at the point.
If you're looking for a luxury resort this is not your place but if you're looking for beauty, relaxation, peace and tranquility...perfect for kids of all ages. I would highly recommend Sunrise/Sunset.
Owner is very attentive and accommodating.
