Stayed here with 4 of our grandchildren. Plenty of room, clean and close to town. Just a mile from the Methodist Camp Ground for swimming in the river, kids loved it. One minor complaint was this is a home that sleeps 6 and there were only 6 bath towels, 3 hand towels (for 3 bathrooms) and no bathmats. Due to humidity I spent a great deal of time trying to dry the towels. They were big and fluffly which I would usually appreciate but due to the limited number for our family and swimming, it was a lot of work. We flew from Wa for the week so there was no way to bring towels and I hated to purchase more for such a short visit.

Lived in/rented this house for a year. Population is relatively sparse and therefore usually quiet, but also rather distant from conveniences. Beautiful view from porch, living room, and master bedroom. No fireplace and no hot tub make this house a bummer in any season but summer. Lots of room on the property for kids to safely roam and pitch a tent if desired. Large gazebo for outdoor entertaining, but no grill. Public access to the New river is less than a mile. Wild apple trees and blackberries on property. Deer and turkey make almost daily appearances (except during hunting season). A nice, long, level road fronts the property and travels along the New river - makes for a most enjoyable place to jog (a rarity in the highlands).
West Jefferson is a 10 minute drive away with modern conveniences like a Super Walmart, Wendy's, and Lowe's hardware. A thousand times more charming, the main street of downtown West Jefferson is lined with all the wonderful things you're looking for on a vacation to a small town: an old fashioned ice cream store, a pizza place, family run two-theater movie house, old-timey hardware store, outdoor outfitting store, and a farmer's market. Dining choices from down-home country to fine.
