Brief Description: West of West Lodge is a great base camp for exploring the Yellowstone area. It’s just 8 miles to the park entrance, is surrounded by national forest trails for hiking, mountain biking,... and snow mobiling and it’s a short drive to a quiet cove on Hebgen Lake. With 2,400 square feet of living space, an open floor plan on the main level, and an additional family room upstairs, it’s a comfortable home for a large group.
Bedrooms and baths: The lodge has four bedrooms and three baths. The main level has one bedroom with a queen size bed. There is a full bath with a large walk-in shower adjacent to this bedroom and both are wheel chair accessible. The upper level has three bedrooms, one with a king size bed, one with a queen and the third with two twins. The king bedroom has an en suite full bath with tub/shower combination. The other two bedrooms share a full bath, also with a tub/shower combo. For a bit of extra sleeping space, the upstairs tv room has a fold out queen sofa bed. All bedrooms have iPod docks.
Kitchen: This is a great kitchen for a crowd as it opens to the bar, the dining area, and the living room. It’s equipped with all stainless appliances, a smooth top electric range, tons of serving and picnic ware, and lots of small appliance extras like a crock pot, electric mixer and blender.
Dining area: The large dining table seats ten comfortably and the bar accommodates another three. There’s also plenty of seating for enjoying outdoor meals out on the covered porch.
Living room: The cozy living room has a gas fireplace, a flat screen HD TV with satellite service, an iPod dock and comfy leather seating. Double French doors open to the covered porch with additional seating for cocktail hour!
Family room: The upper level has a family room where your crew can do puzzles, play games or watch TV and movies after a day of exploring.
Setting, acreage, and views: West of West Lodge is in a woodsy vacation home neighborhood about 8 miles from West Yellowstone, which is the West entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It sits on one half acre and enjoys incredible views of Lionhead Mountain and other peaks along the Continental Divide. You’re likely to see elk, moose and maybe even a bear in this beautiful wild area!
Outdoor Amenities: Decks on three sides of the house provide room for enjoying coffee in the morning sunshine and then sunset over the mountains. Once a little lawn area grows in, you can host a Rocky Mountain rough terrain bocci tournament off the South deck.
Activities nearby: In winter, you can snowmobile right from the house and get onto hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails. If you prefer Nordic skiing, West Yellowstone’s Rendezvous Trails are a short drive away and you can explore Yellowstone Park by snowcoach. In summer, there’s hiking and mountain biking right out the door, fishing on blue ribbon streams, boating on Hebgen Lake and of course – day trips into Yellowstone Park. For an especially memorable experience in the park, book a specialized private tour with our sister company, Greater Yellowstone Guides.
Closest town and airport: You are 8 miles from the town of West Yellowstone, 90 miles from Bozeman’s Gallatin Field Airport and 110 miles from Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Additional amenities include: games, coffee maker, 15 min to yellowstone park, on 1-5 acres, ice maker, less than 15 minutes to town, cookware, spotty cell service, close to town, washer & dryer, ironing board.Read more

We found this house through VRBO. The booking was very easy and straight forward. The house was exceptional! Well appointed, comfortable, easy access. The kitchen was to die for - if you like to cook, look no further. The linens were top quality. We truly felt like we had been given access to someone else's home for the week because everything was as nice, if not nicer, than home. While it wasn't my first trip, it was my family's and they loved it. Being able to come back to something other than a hotel room was so nice. I'll never stay at a park lodge again! It was so nice, that while we don't snowmobile, we may just have to come back out and rent some and learn so we can stay here again.

Our ninth annual XC ski weekend in West Yellowstone was the most comfortable yet with four couples staying at West of West. We all were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the entire house was, how nice the linens and bedding was, and how well out-fitted the kitchen was. Although we initially were concerned about being too far from town, it was a very easy short drive to the Rendezvous Trails, restaurants in West, and shops. The setting was attractive, peaceful, and I think every star in the sky was visible at night. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay.
The Perfect Place

We are from Nebraska and we stayed here for 4 nights for a family snowmobile trip, with my wife's parents and our two adult married children their spouses and our 9 month old grandson 9 of us total. This place surpassed our expectaions, we are a snowmobiling family and it was so nice to get right on the trails each morning less than a block away. It was the perfect amount of room and the house is beautilly decortated and comfortable. It is every bit as nice as the pictures online, thank you to the owners for letting us share your place it was the perfect place. We definatly will come back.
1st trip to Yellowstone

We loved this house. It has everything a family could ask for, especially if you have small children. There was a train set, lincoln logs, large leggo toys, every Disney movie plus more. It was very convenient to Yellowstone National Park, and West Yellowstone. The ladies at Mountain Home were very helpful and friendly. I feel like they went out of their way to make us comfortable. I highly recommend it.
The only negative was the acoustics in the house. It was pretty loud with 6 adults and 2 small children. The house itself was beautiful and was very well made. There was separate heating in all the rooms and even though it got pretty cold ouside the house was always warm and cosy.

We loved our stay! The house is well designed, well equipped and appointed, well kept and well stocked! We like to cook and loved the spacious kitchen and grill, with ample high quality cooking tools. The rooms are large and airy, and the kids were happy to find plenty of places to curl up in chairs and couches while the adults enjoyed sitting on the deck or around the big table. We loved to be slightly out of the center of W. Yellowstone town, and the house was just the right distance away for us - convenient to town and the park gate, but quiet and serene. Suzy was more than helpful, and also connected us to Greater Yellowstone Guides for a couple of days' expert guiding in the park. Read more

This property is just terrific!

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath home is beautifully appointed, there is nothing you need to bring besides your personal stuff. It is modern, large, exceptionally clean and comfortable, and easily holds 12 people. Our group has been there 3 times for a long snowmobiling weekend and the setting is perfect for that - you can get to miles and miles of sledding trails plus hundreds of acres of playing fields - all from the front door of this house. Our service there has always been perfect but there was one glitch this time. The walkway to the house was not cleared when we arrived and we had to shovel about 3 feet of snow off the walkway. The person responsible for this work had the wrong date of arrival for us, and he apologized profusely - really, this was just a small mistake. We plan to continue to go to this property because it is so nice.
Absolutly beautiful cabin for a winter Yellowstone vacation!

Our family loved this amazing home/ cabin! It is spacious and cozy and the kitchen had all the things we needed for cooking every night. The only thing missing is a hot tub for soakings in after a long day in the snow.

I had the opportunity to stay at the West of West location just outside of Yellowstone. I am so glad that I did!! We met family from 4 different states at West of West and the home was the perfect place for us all to meet. The secluded location is close to the park and the quaint downtown area. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms to ensure our comfort, but best of all the layout is perfect for spending time together! The porch offers a beautiful view, grill and plenty of seating. But...the inside dining/kitchen/living area is spectacular! Everyone can chit chat while cooking and hanging out in the living room due to the open floor plan. The dining room seats 10- so there was no need for a "kids table". If you are looking to spend your family vacation, as a family - together - I highly suggest this. And, the leasing team is knowledgeable and friendly. When we return to the area - you can bet we will be staying at West of West!

We had a wonderful experience at West of West. The house was spacious and clean. The kitchen was well stocked. The surrounding area is remote and quiet except for the coyotes howling at night, which was a great addition to staying near Yellowstone Park. If I had any complaint it would be that the yard was quite overgrown. We had two small dogs and they had a difficult time getting through all the weeds around the house, not to mention all the mosquitos that were also hanging out in the weeds. However, this is an easy fix for the owners and all and all the house was far more than we expected and we would certainly stay there again. Read more

We're glad you had a good time at West of West, and thank you for your helpful comments. You'll be happy to hear that we are now mowing around the house - so your pups can roam in comfort! As you know, the home is new and we have been reseeding with wildflowers and native grasses to get as much "nature" back onto the property as possible. Now that the native plants have established themselves, we've started mowing a lawn area off the south deck. Thanks again for your comments and we hope you come back to visit again!

Exellent New Cabin-Style Home

My family, parents, brother and his two girls recently stayed at West of West. The house exceeded our expectations! The new house is tastefully decorated and comes well-equipped with a grill, many appliances, three full baths and more! The girls enjoyed the library of VHS Disney videos and den with toys, while the grown-ups relaxed in the spacious living room. The mosquitos were out in full force while we were there so we weren't able to use the deck very often. However, after spending the day in Yellowstone, we were happy to sit indoors.
The house is a quick 10-minute drive from the town of West Yellowstone where there are numerous restaurants, a movie theater, the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and an Imax theater.
We would highly recommend this house to a group with children of any age and would definitely stay there again!
Great house to stay and relax in while on your Yellowstone vacat

We loved the house for the week's stay we had there. The "home" was very comfortable and had a nice relaxing open floor plan for all eight of us to gather and chat. We were glad to find a very clean house when we arrived.
There was plenty of towels, dishes, glassware, utensils, etc. for our stay and the bedding was crisp and fresh.
The location on a wooded lot a few miles from West Yellowstone was ideal and added to the rustic vacation
we expected at Yellowstone.
One suggestion is to add a platform level with the rock walk before the first step. The height of the first step
was challenging for some and I fell when I skidded on
the rocks coming down that last step (just a couple of scrapes.)
We loved the stay and the ease of working with your office. We would rent from you again anytim. Read more

Thank you for your kind words about your summer stay at West of West. You (and other guests) will be happy to find that we have replaced the temporary boardwalk access from the driveway to the house, with a permanent, solid boardwalk with a good railing and no BIG first step to negotiate. Again, thanks for your feedback, and we hope that you will come stay with us again, either here or at another of the homes that we offer.

Our stay at the West of West Lodge was satisfactory in every maj

The West of West Lodge is in an accessible, quiet, and reasonably scenic location that is also reasonably close to Yellowstone Park and restaurants. The information provided in advance was complete, and inquiries were answered promptly, completely, and pleasantly. The completely open area for the living room, dining room and kitchen was conducive to permitting conversation among those doing different things. A large dining room table permitted other activities besides eating. A second family room on the second floor provided an opportunity for some to enjoy alternative activities. The rooms were well furnished. The outside stairs need a railing.

West of West was perfect for a family group consisting of two parents, two children and two grandchildren. The lodge was beautifully laid out and equipped --- everything was of the highest quality. The location was ideal for the amenities of West Yellowstone and for entrance to the park. We were "sad" to leave, and we would all gladly repeat the experience!

I don't write reviews, but I felt so strongly about this rental that I had to. This is a beautiful place, about a 5 minute trip from downtown.
Once we entered the house, we had so much fun going to each room to discover the beautiful decor and comfortable furniture and beds. The open floor plan was great and the house plan has several diffferent areas for folks to get a little privacy beyond there bedrooms. We used the bathroom in the downstairs and the shower reminded me of being in a spa.
The kitchen had fine pots and pans and the organic herbs were a plus. I love to cook and did there several times during our stay and had everything I needed. It was a pleasure to cook in this kitchen.
If we are ever in West Yellowstone again, I will stay here. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is because it did not have a high chair, but did have a pack n play.
Thank you Gilbert family for staying with us last year and for your kind words about West of West. Per your suggestions we now have not one, but two high chair/booster seat combos. Please come back and visit before your grandchildren are grown!

Fantastic house! New, very clean and comfortable. The furnishings are also new. The kitchen is better equipped than my own and there is a gas grill outside. Ample space to relax in, both inside and out. The house feels out in the country but is only 10 minutes away from west yellowstone restaurants and the entrance to the park. The owner even has bear spray in the mudroom cupboard to take while hiking. There is a full size washer and dryer, convenient after being out on muddy days. I would definitely rent this house again.

We had a wonderful stay at West of West. The house is in a good, quiet location, working with the rental agency was a pleasure, and the house is appointed with everything a family needs. I was especially impressed with the kitchen... it really has everything. We highly recommend West of West.

We were 3 couples who came for a 4 day trip to Yellowstone. When we arrived at the house we were all amazed. We knew we were going to get a nice place, but didn't know it was going to be this great. The house is gorgeous, tastefully designed, has everything you can imagine, and is very close the the Yellowstone national park entrance.

The West of the West property exceeded our expectations. Not only is it a truly beautiful property, but it is outfitted in a generous manner that supplies the occupant with more luxuries then most people have in their homes. From the large dining table to the ample seating areas, the house is designed for group gatherings. It really enhanced and improved the quality of our trip. It was always wonderful to come back to the house after a full day of exploring YNP. We felt comfortable and content.
