A comfortable pad with (almost) everything provided

Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011

Although more "semi" than cottage from the outside, inside, thanks to the old-style furniture and simple decor, Meadowbank did have a very cottagy feel. On arrival I found the two wall heaters had been left on a low setting and and with coffee and tea in the kitchen, this made things very welcoming.
As far as the facilities were concerned everything you are likely to need is there. The oven is fueled by gas, but throws out an enormous amount of heat into the kitchen. No problem in winter but could be uncomfortable in summer when heating the chicken tikka.
There is a hand-held shower attachment which is a bit of a drag..
The house had been cleaned to a high standard. The garden to the rear is quite private.
Tv etc worked without a problem. Sainsbury's is literally 5minutes away.
I felt the owner is trying her best to cater for her guests.

      A cottage with everything

Left on 12/04/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Nothing was missing with this cottage. It was very clean and presentable. It felt like home immediately. Heating available as necessary therefore most comfortable. The cottage also very close to a most useful shop and takeaway. The only criticism I would make is nothing to do with the Cottage but about the atrocious standard of driving in the area. It is the worst I have ever experienced.

Useful location but property needs updating

Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in August 2011

It was a very useful base to explore a wealth of visitor attractions. Think you should make the most of that fact in your brochure details. The property is rather tired looking though. It looks like a cheapo update to an inherited house and people do expect a bit more for their money. I would make the ground floor open plan (I like open plan holiday accomodation, you can all chat and cook). I would also suggest a bathroom update (all white please) and shower - I advised the owners their bills are going to be massive if 4 people take baths every day). I think calling the property a cottage is a bit cheeky. It's in the middle of a modernish housing estate which, not knowing the area, we found quite scary at first.
On a positive, we had everything we needed and the garden was lovely - a real feature and we did enjoy our stay. We had some brilliant days out, including a first ever trip to Bristol, which was amazing. I just think they will get so much more repeat trade if they refurb the kitchen and bathroom. I do not intend to upset with this feedback, I just want to be honest and helpful.
