      A Six Star Holiday Home

Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The property and the amenities were more comfortable and lovelier than described. It was comfortable, very clean, well-maintained and the manager did everything to make our stay perfect.

We would definitely recommend this property to others because it is a wonderful family home and also because of the easy proximity to a host of tourist sites.

From here we enjoyed visiting Ballintubber abbey and the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life as well as our excursion to Crough Patrick and the Foxford Woollen Mills.

      A Little Bit of Heaven

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Teach Mo Chroi is truly a little bit of heaven. The house is spacious with all the amenities of a U.S. home, including a dishwasher! The kitchen is a delight with a grand view of Croagh Patrick through the patio doors and a large table which made for many wonderful conversations with family and friends. The availability of 110 volt electricity made the job of keeping all of our gadgets fully charged much easier. The location is outstanding with just enough day trips for our 3 week stay. Well, there were some favorites that we had to see twice. We especially enjoyed Tom Henegan’s farm and the cruise on Lake Corrib. The short distance to both Westport and Castlebar was a great advantage. The peacefulness because of being off the main road was an added attraction. Karla is a great help with all the arrangements. Her local staff was also a bonus.

      Wonderful Vacation

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was our first visit to Ireland. We had a wonderful time. The home was lovely. It was very clean, had all the major appliances, and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space for our family of eight. The view of the mountains and Croagh Patrick from the back of the house is gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay and saw many of the attractions that the owners recommended. Wish we could have stayed longer. We would definitely go back again. Just be careful driving on the very narrow roads.

Truly a home away from home!

Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We stayed for 12 days in this wonderful house while visiting County Mayo from the USa. It was the perfect location for staying while exploring the west of Ireland. There were 7 of us and we had more than enough room in this spacious house and inviting house. It was very clean and well-maintained both indoors and out and had every amenity that was needed. It truly was like being in your own home in another country. Our host and housekeeper were more than helpful in showing/telling us how everything worked and were available if we needed to telephone with questions. The location of the house is situated between Ballinrobe and Castlebar, and it was very easy to drive to either town for grocery shopping, etc. We cooked most of our meals instead of going out to eat at restaurants and found the kitchen to be well-equipped. The home is child-friendly as well, which was a plus for us since we had one teenager and one child in our group. They enjoyed the basketball and soccer goals. There is also a swing set for younger children. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting Mayo. It really made our vacation more enjoyable, comfortable and memorable! Thank you again!

Sandy it is a pleasure to have had such respectful guests. You left the house in terrific condition.

While it is true we are situated in off the main N84 Castlebar/Ballinrobe Rd, we are also less than 15 mins from Westport town, an easily accessible road just behind the home leads you straight into town.

      Simply amazing!!!

Left on 04/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We traveled to Ireland to visit my son who was doing a semester abroad in Dublin. This was our first time to Ireland and my first time using homeaway.com. Our experience was wonderful! We stayed in "Teach Mo Chroi" for an entire week and the house was just amazing and very, very beautiful! Everything was at our disposal and there was nothing lacking at all! The Kitchen is huge and well-equipped with all of the amenities! We cooked wonderful meals each night utilizing the fresh local produce and meats from the local markets. The floor plan of the house is perfect for families who want to have all of the kids in one end of the house and keep the other end of the house "quiet" for adults who might want to go to bed alittle bit earlier. The outside space is very private with sheep and lambs surrounding the property. The landscape is beautiful and we really enjoyed taking walks down the driveway and along the dirt road.
We have rented houses before in the us for vacations but I must say, this has definately been one of our favorites! Thank you so much to Karla for letting us have such a wonderful vacation in her beautiful home!! I hope that we can make it back to Ireland again next year because there is still so much to see and do!!!

Fabulous Home in a Peaceful Beautiful Rural Setting

Left on 11/06/2011 for a stay in October 2011

My family had a fabulous stay at this lovely home. The home was clean, spacious and had everything our family of 5 needed for a relaxing vacation in Ireland. The views were gorgeous, the setting so peaceful. The bedrooms and kitchen were large and the bathrooms very up to date. We took several day-trips from here, including to gorgeous achill Island, Westport, Ashford Castle (where we fished and did horseback riding), and to visit family in Sligo. We enjoyed cooking in the cozy kitchen, and relaxing fireside in the evenings. Highly recommended!

      Beautiful, Warm & Welcoming

Left on 09/17/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We set out on a journey to discover our heritage and see if we had any living relatives in Co. Mayo Ireland. We arrived on an unseasonably cold and blustery day so when we opened the door to the house and were welcomed by the warmth of heat we were delighted. Teach Mo Chroi' was our home base but turned out to be so much more. It is truly a lovely home. The rooms were very spacious and the beds incredibly comfortable after a long day of touring. The kids enjoyed playing soccer and especially the tire swing, but the highlight was watching the fathers and sons play basketball together. It turned out to be one of the best family vacations we've ever taken. There were so many places to visit in the area; a boat ride from ashford Castle to the island was among our favorites. But don't miss Ballintubber abbey, Achill Island, Climbing Croagh Patrick and especially the nightlife in Westport town. Everything was so easily accessible and convenient. The home is furnished with everything you could possibly need or want for cooking, and with so many Satellite channels it was easy to keep the kids entertained. Maura our hostess was warm and friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed with how clean the home was when we arrived and how easily it handled our large group of 11 adults & children. I will recommend the home to others and hope we can find another excuse to visit again in the future. If there was any disappointment it was that we were unable to find any living relatives but our visit to Mayo and Teach Mo Chroi more than made up for that disappointment.
