May 2012 - I had a great stay in #928 at Westport Beach Escapes. So awesome to be walking distance to the beach. The rooms, kitchen, and living room area were sooo comfortable and inviting. Our family will be making more trips out to Westport during the summer. Thanks for having the condos available, looking forward to more visits.
(Mike's Note - Patrick won the Stand Up division at the Cleanwater Classic Surf Competition this year while staying in 928!)
February 2010 - What a pleasant surprise - torrential rains broke for a wonderful walk on the beach our first night here and the sun was out all day sunday (not what the weatherman predicted). Found the motherload of all sanddollars. Ate at Bennetts in Grayland for Valentines and walked the beach again. Your condo is wonderful, very cozy. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

August 2009 - We enjoyed wonderful weather for our stay. Went to the beach every day, boogie boarding and relaxing. The paved path along the shore to the jetty is a great walk. The view from your deck was wonderful... really enjoyed reading and playing cards there. We would love to return to #928. Thank You

I Highly Recommend You Avoid Rental 928WBS

Avoid Westport by the Sea vacation rental #928. It starts when making the reservation that puts this place in a negative state. When making the reservation, there is not a single place in any of the policy and terms agreement that says only 1 dog allowed and that dog must be under 30 lbs. It's not until after you make the final payment that they include the weight limit for dogs. They don't say anywhere in the agreement that only one dog is allowed. I have provided photos with this review to prove that is also a fact. We didn't find the >30 pound limit until after we made our final, non-refundable payment for the rental. The limit was never included on any of the agreements and or emails sent from the owners.
A few days after we returned from our Westport by the Sea vacation, we noticed there were additional charges on the credit card we used for the booking. When we emailed the owners asking what those charges were for, we received no response and so we emailed a few more times, again with no response. Finally when we received a response a week later, the owner had some things to say and I address those concerns below.
They claim that the two towels that are for the hot tub use were soiled to the point that they had to throw them out. That's not true, because the only thing they were used for was to dry off after using the hot tub (which was almost freezing temperatures when we tried to use the hot tub, seems the thermostat was broken). Those towels were left in brand new condition as they were when we used them. Second thing was the beds being full of dog hair. That is also not true, because our dogs are of breeds that do not shed almost ever. Plus, we brought the dogs beds, and they happily slept on those beds both nights we were there. Besides, the bed is way to high off the ground for even a big dog to be able to jump up onto, let alone our little dogs that could never clear the high jump to get on the bed. Now about the rags being thrown away due to being so soiled, that's another lie. The rags were used solely for the bathtub washes for us humans only. One rag was used to clean the dirt left from prior visitors in the bathroom. The towels were all used, but again, the towels were only used by us humans and never once did we use any of the towels on the dogs. We brought 10 of our own towels to use for the dogs, as we have been to the ocean many times with our dogs, and so we are very aware of the mess that can be made from dogs at the beach, we are respectful enough to use our own towels to clean our wet and sandy dogs with.
The last thing I would add is the rules posted all over the rental upon entering the rental #928 Westport by the Sea. There are rules on everything including the laundry soap, which says to only use one scoop of soap per load, if excess is used, extra charges will apply. There is also a rule that says we are to wash our own bed sheets before checking out of the rental. Who requires such chores for the occupants paying for the rental? If this is the case, why is there a cleaning fee charged to the people renting the unit, if they expect the place to be in the same if not better shape then when you arrived?
My final word of advice is to check into a different rental other than #928WBS. The area itself is amazing and the beach access is also one in a million, but the rental we booked was just not worth the trouble that the owners caused us after the stay. Read more
I’m appalled by your review. You made your reservation online and our terms and conditions are very clear and specific about bringing only ONE dog under 30 lb limitation. Prior to your arrival you received a call from our office to confirm your stay and to check if you had any questions about the property or the area and by that time we also asked about what kind of dog you’d be bringing and you were not honest with us and mentioned only one dog. We do not approve three dogs in any of our rentals.
You stayed in a very clean, very well managed unit and by the time you left we had to spend three times the usual housekeeping time to clean up all dog hair off furniture and linens and not to mention the dog smells left from your three non approved dogs. On your departure day you ended up leaving the unit one hour late causing a big back up problem with our cleaning schedule specially considering the extra time we had to spend to have the unit as clean as it was before your stay for the next guests coming. We have clear language about non approved late departures but you were not charged for one despite that. Our check out times and procedures are posted on the back on the entry door as well as in the guest binder provided in the unit and are standard to the vacation rental industry. We ask guests to strip used beds and start a load in the washer, place used dishes in dishwasher and remove all garbage with them to one of the many dumpsters located on site. I also like to point out that our cleaning fee is half of the other local agencies.
There are no notes about charges on using excess soaps. We label some soaps we provide to your guests because they are high efficiency concentrated BIOKLEEN products and some people are not used them. You were provided with brand new, freshly bagged pool towels and they were left in terrible condition, completely discolored and stained and had to be tossed. Those were the “extra charges” on your card and by the way they were refunded to you because we failed to inform you before they were done, not because you were not responsible for them. We also had to toss all wash rags provided and a couple of hand towels because they were completely stained and beyond cleaning.
As your ‘advice” says we too try to stay away from guests that have no respect to our rentals. All our properties are individually owned and we are entrusted to take good care of them and provide a very clean, well stocked with excellent quality supplies and well maintained home and a great service to all our guests. You Sir, will not be one of them in the future, you were dishonest and very disrespectful not only to our property but to our staff as well and we certainly don’t appreciate that. You are not welcome back.
Too bad it's not ours!

We were only there 1 night but were impressed with everything about the condo. It was decorated beautifully and the views were great. The beach was close and we enjoyed the paved walkway. The agent, Mike and his wife were very nice and efficient.
It was ok...

While the price was reasonable, the view was good. My issue was the up-keep of the place. I have stayed in other units and never had this proble. Cobwebs covered the bedroom lamp, the fire alarm was dangling by wires, food was in the divets of the couch, the inflatable bed never stayed inflated, the tv in the bedroom didnt work and the stocking of kitchen cooking utensils were minimal. i contacted Mike when i got home and the responce was as if it were my fault for not saying anything sooner. When I've saved up for a vacation I do not want to spend that precious few days trying to hagle over things that shouold be taken care of before hand. I was not offered any compensation, very poor management. Read more
Hello, I am sorry you felt this way. I wish you have mentioned your problems when I knocked at your door during your stay to remove the lock box and asked if everything was ok and you said it was all fine. I thought we have addressed your complaints during our email exchange after your stay. I have copied parts my response to you. It is as it follows:
"I wish you had called me during your stay, after the fact there's nothing I can do about any of those issues but to apologize for the inconvenience. I had just replaced that blow up mattress this past weekend and is a brand new one, sorry to hear is already damaged. I am purchasing new pillows for that unit this coming week as well as some extra ones. I had replaced the battery on that smoke alarm about a month ago, not sure why is dangling now. perhaps it was beeping again and the previous guest disconnected.I appreciate your feedback and take seriously the conditions of our rentals and I like to offer a third night free on a 3 night stay or a 50% discount on the second night for a 2 night stay in that condo, I hope this compensates for all the troubles. "
We are constantly working to improve our services and making sure all guests feel welcome and comfortable in our rentals. Thanks.
