A very friendly dive operator, Ocean Encounters is just a 2 minute drive away. Each year another delicious restaurant opens. Ranchero el Sobreno restaurant is right next door. We love the fried funchie there along with the Belgium beers. Jaanchies is just a short drive away as is a new cozy French spot, Landhuis Misje, presently voted #1 on Trip Advisor for West Punt dining. And if a 5 star meal is something you crave, the Kura Hulanda Resort nearby has an amazing open-air restaurant where the ostrich steak was incredible.
Some of Curacao's most famous beaches are just a short walk or drive away including Playa Forti with it's clifftop lunch spot and bar. Also nearby

We loved the beaches. The nicest beaches are very closed. Nice area that makes you feel your alone in this world! The place is very clean and very nice! I will keep good memories of my 5 days stay in Curacao. Also must see downtown ant it is 40 minutes away. Our favorite restaurant is Gouverneur Rouville. Excellent !

This place is beautiful, very clean and has everything you need. We stayed a week and did a lot of diving at close by sites. We are definetly going to go back and hopefully stay here again. Great location - away from all the "tourist" area. Loved sitting on the terrace, drinking wine and watching the sunset.

The owners provided helpful information before arriving. Everything was in order and ready when we arrived. Quiet, pretty setting with lovely ocean views esp. sunsets. Lower and upper balconies for sitting outside and viewing ocean. Sleeping accomodations were plentiful as well as the two bathrooms with showers.

If you are looking for a perfect, peaceful place to unwind in Curacao, with all the amenities of home, with gorgeous views and amazing sunsets---then unit 10-B at Marazul Dive Resort will fit the bill. The unit is well furnished, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Several great restaurants are nearby, as well as amazing snorkeling spots and pristine beaches. Stay here---you will not regret it.

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Very clean and comfortable "homey" feeling house, with great scuba and snorkelling out your front door. Easy drive to all the best beaches on the island. A great dive shop and a handful of good restaurants are just minutes away. If you want nightlife and action, stay in the big Hotel area, but if you like the Good Life - quiet, comfortable with plenty to see and do without the tourist crowds - this is the perfect place. The owners and resort managers are very helpful in making everything about your stay perfect.

Victoria, B.C.Relaxing, scenic and away from it all!
Left on 12/10/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We enjoyed a 7 night visit in Marazul 10B at the end of November 2011. For 2 of us, the unit was very spacious. We really appreciated how clean it was and that so many towels were provided. Also, the view was great -- especially from the upstairs deck (where there a couple of very friendly small birds which apparently like cookies). Tommi and Uli, the managers, were very accessible and helpful. As noted in one of the other reviews, a car is essential for Curacao generally, but especially if you're staying at Westpunt as it is about a 45 minute drive to Willemstad. As November is the rainy season in this region (we knew this when we made our plans), and it was quite wet during our stay, we didn't do much snorkelling, but if you come to Westpunt, there is a place about 5 minutes drive from Marazul (called OEW) that rents snorkelling gear right on the beach. Also, divers can get into the water almost directly behind the unit. We really appreciated the detailed information that Misti provided both before we left for our trip and at the unit as otherwise we wouldn't have known about some of the restaurants, etc.

buenos aires, ArgentinaPerfect place (relax, snorkelling and diving. It's all about)
Left on 10/22/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We got back from there and we are already missing the place.
We stayed in the unit 10a.- From outside the units look the same, but what there is inside is what count. Love! As I told Misti (the owner and one of the nicest people i've met) "love is the air". At first view you realize how much the owner loves the place. It's totally furnished (charming decorated and you find all you need and more).
Misti gave us maps, recommendations and very useful information (restaurants, markets, groceries, best beaches, diving points, everything).
As soon as you get to the unit, we found a folder with more information :)
The unit and the resort were excessively clean (which was great).
If you stay there you need a car. To be honest if you go to Curazao (it doesn't matter where you stay) renting a car is a need.
Best beaches and diving are close to Marazul (don't forget to bring a mask). Also best sunset ever.
Marazul was made for people looking for relax, romance, great snorkelling and diving (it's also perfect for families).
We didn't have too much time to meet Tommi and Uli (the managers) but they were extremelly nice to us and they are always there to help you (whatever you need).
Everything was perfect! And remember that not all the units are the same.
Thanks Misti and ardeis :) -

crownsville marylandParadise in Westpunt!

My wife and I decided to go to Curacao for our 30th wedding anniversary and were glad we did. Having a timeshare in aruba we had visited Curacao once in 2007 and decided we wanted somewhere that was laid back and quiet. The town of Westpunt is on the western end of the island and you really should get a car if you want the freedom to explore the Island.
When we arrived in Curacao we picked up our car and went to the supermarket Centrum to pick up our supplies for breakfast and snacks and drinks! When we arrived at the Marazul resort we were met by Tommy who helped us with getting settled. The condo was very clean and organized, it has most of the things you need to be comfortable. The pool area and grounds were well taken care of and everybody was real friendly. The unit is a good size for 2 people, if you have more you may want to rent both sections. All the appliances worked well and I loved the water, cold and refreshing. Also the skeeters are very annoying so make sure you bring some off for nightime.
Staying on the western end of the island has its advantages, very quiet and its very beautiful out there. The beaches are all within a short drive or walk, depending on which ones you go to. Actually the ones you have to pay a small fee are nicer and have more amenities. But there are plenty of places to snorkel, and in front of the resort.
The restaurant's out on the western end are very unique, our favorite was Landhis Misje and make sure you make a reservation. Also just as high on our list but different cuisine was Sol Food, David and Sunshine have a awesome place, only open FRI,sat and Sunday. We also visited Daniel's about 20 minutes east on the main road and was excellent. We ate a couple times at Kura Hulanda, it was good but predictable.
Overall it was a great trip and we will be returning, only next time it will be longer.

This rental is wonderful. Simple and comfortable -- lovely! You are on the water -- with wonderful sunsets from the roof top terrace. A pool that is delightful or take a swim in the ocean. Go to this end of the island - so many wonderful areas for sea exploration. This rental was wonderful. Great small kitchen. Very comfortable king size bed with a view!
It is a wonderful place for those of us who

Pocono Mountains, PAMarazul - An excellent choice Stay in unit 10!
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Out first stop at Marazul was 1B and the owner of that unit doesn't keep it up to standards. Twin bed with no connectors or mattress cover! Not the way I wanted to spend our anniversary! Don't stay in building 1.
After speaking with the management they were very eager to please and made arrangements with another owner.
We were moved to 10a where we were very happy with the accommodations. The folks who own this unit were very kind to accommodate us and really saved our vacation. The location is great if you want to stay outside the busy Willemstad area which we did. Its quiet on the West End with good restaurants and great beaches. If you like to snorkel definitely go to Lagun Beach. That was our favorite. You can also snorkel/dive right out front of Maraul, go down the steps to a ladder leading into the turquoise sea and right out to the reef. Just be aware of the tides direction and how far you go out!
All in all it was a great relaxing vacation once we got past the first issue at unit 1. Eat at Sol Foods! Excellent seafood and very reasonable and very personable and the atmosphere eating on a deck overlooking the sea cant be beat.
Stay at unit 10 if you can! Great people and a really nice unit! Sit on the deck overlooking the sea from your bedroom! Awesome! Wish I was there now :( Thank you!!! Joe and Karen

Location, location, location - beautiful sunsets, near the best diving and snorkeling spots in that area of the Caribbean. If you like peace and quiet, a rustic not overdeveloped island, kind and helpful people, you'll like Marazul and Westpunt. Take the Vegas out of aruba, and you have Curacao.
My family and I stayed only for a week at Christmas. We came mainly for one reason - dolphins; but there was so much to explore that we wished we had another week... We didn't try diving, but we did a lot of snorkeling, cliff diving, and tanning at a different beach every day. Our favorite one was Knip, but nothing beats alice in Wonderland for snorkeling. You may want to give the Dolphin academy a try. It's pricey, especially the pictures, but the dolphin interaction times in the swim/snorkel programs are more than that in Florida.
We cooked most of our food trying local ingredients, the meat tastes differently, really. Try some of the dried pork sausages too. The pika (the local hot sauce) is not that hot and it's a bit too vinegary for me; but do give it a try, it's different to everything else I tried before. Restaurants? You won't find Jaanchie's experience anywhere! We ordered four different dishes, all great, plus the iguana on the side; it's a bit bony and no, it does not taste like chicken! Don't tell them, but we thought that next-door Rancho El Sobrino cooked the best funchi and their conch dish was unmatched! We didn't try Sunshine's place (next time).
All the fun is within a short distance. And after a busy day, there is nothing like having the original Curacao liquor on the balcony, watch the sunsets and feel the time fly. (Just make sure you have a good mosquito repellent!) No phone coverage, no wireless Internet to bother you...
And if you need anything, the hosts annemiek and Piet, wonderful people, are there to help. -

If you are looking for a quiet place with spectacular view in a part of the Caribbean that rarely has bad weather, this part of Curacao Island if for you. The owners have made every effort toward giving you all the comforts of home, yet here you are looking at the fabulous Caribbean. Just a few steps from your door, you can take a dip in the limitless clear and warm waters of the ocean; or slip into the pool on your way back to the apartment. I love the upstairs patio where the steady breezes accent your view.
You kind of have to make your own party here, because it is so quiet and private... And for scuba diving, its hard to beat this location... one of the best areas of Curacao.
